Isshin Japanese House Lilydale

Delicious all you can eat Japanese dishes. Service also fast and friendly. Dishes are smaller, tapas style so you can sample their entire menu. Make sure you're proper hungry, yummm.

Ok so usually I don't write reviews or anything, and it pains me to write this one. I've been going to Isshin for something like 5 years now and it was a very good experience, until recently. Over the past couple of months the service has been going down hill. More and more have they been under staffed during incredibly busy times, food has taken more than an hour to get out to us and even then it's been subpar compared to the Isshin in Forest Hill. The reason I went here over other places originally was simply because of the atmosphere. I felt welcome and taken care of. Now it's like I'm another weight added onto the shoulders of the already stressed out wait staff. And the wait time, my goodness, from 10 minutes for 8 pieces of sushi to an 30 minutes for 4 pieces. Now that's only the sushi anything from out the kitchen out back and by George are you gonna have to wait a good 50 minutes to get a serving of tofu and some fried chicken. All in all so much wasted potential.

My favourite restaurant by far.the service is great and their menu fabulous. The best Eel and Dory I have ever had.going back again soon)

Great all you can eat menu. Very good service and very nice food. Bookings are a must on weekends as it can get quite busy.

Great food here and very prompt service! This is the second time I've been here and first time we ordered a la carte and the second we did the all you can eat. Both were great options with a huge variety. My personal favorite was the enoki mushrooms with beef wrapped around them. I would definitely come back again. Thanks for a awesome night out!

OK food - what we had anyway - generally small serves of different things - a good idea, but a bit on the expensive side. (just a bit, as some of the ingredients are relatively expensive) We had a large table of 20 and I think it was a bit much for the staff to cope with - maybe it would be better with just a few people.
Long waits to get an order in, most of the food was good, but small portions meant we were always waiting for the next course.staff tried hard, but think there were too many people.
Anyway - don't think I'd bother going back, but if I did it would be in a smaller group.
Pretty noisy too, so hard to hear anyone except the people right next to you.
Sorry to say "Average. " - when everyone else seems to think it is so good? Not really sure why.

Great service and food. Smaller restaurant so would recommend making reservations if going over a weekend.

This place was a run down steak, lamb, pork, seafood and veggie place. Now Japanese restaurant, fabulous place to enjoy quality food. Best with 3 fairly big eaters or 4 or more. Why, do the set price sample dishes, this allows you to try many servings. But, once ordered and placed on the table, the people at the table must eat the truly delicious Japanese fair.

Just a super Japanese experience.

Delicious food, a little confusion for us rookies at the start with a couple of incorrect dishes. But all still good quality items.
Great value for kids-fast meals at the 5.30pm sitting. Byo wine corkage is $2.50pp.

Beautiful, fresh food. Tried some new dishes (mashed scallop with quail egg and mushroom) and absolutely loved it. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Delicious Japanese food. All you can eat order straight off the menu and order as you go along. The food cames out as mini dishes or taste testers. Japanese wine and beer and a variety of drinks even cocktails. The desserts are very sumptuous. Good value for money. The restaurant has a mysterious and unique atmosphere. Great hospitality and service.

Food is always terrific here. Been many times. Service friendly and quite prompt this time. Sometimes it can be a little slow when busy. BYO wine is a great option.

Delicious Japanese in a variation of all-you-can-eat. We went as a small group and easily ate our monies worth before we knew it. Speedy service even on a busy Friday night.

Seriously good value for money and food is awesome for price point and above. Good service too. So pleased here!
