Irish Murphys reviews
66We always arrange to go to Irish Murphy's when we visit Ballarat. For lunch or dinner, It is a great place to go. Try them you won't be disappointed.
Upon my recent visit to this remarkable establishment in Ballarat, I had the pleasure of partaking in their perfectly prepared porterhouse, served medium rare. The culinary skill exhibited in the preparation of the steak was highly commendable, with the dish reaching a level of perfection that was truly memorable.
Complementing the steak was an exquisite creamy white wine and garlic sauce, which displayed a harmonious balance of flavors. The gastronomic experience rendered by this combination was fabulous and noteworthy.
Given the quality of the steak and the overall dining experience, I am inclined to position this establishment as potentially the premier choice for steak enthusiasts within Ballarat. Its superior offerings have certainly earned it a top spot on my list of preferred dining venues.
While I initially opted for a takeaway order, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance that permeated the restaurant upon entering to collect my food. This impression has further piqued my interest, and I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to enjoy a dine-in experience during my next visit.
Staff were really approachable and friendly.
Having the eating area away from the rest of the pub is great. The food was good, with good-sized portions, especially the calamari.
Toilets clean.
Very traditional Irish pub, very cosy and excellent selection of beers and spirits, both Irish and other
Several issues however their charging extra for sides that are included everywhere else is fekkn ridiculous.
Unfortunately, we waited for our meals for over 30 minutes which what seemed like a quiet lunch service. When we finally received 2/3 meals, the waiter came over and explained that he forgot to add a meal to the order. Therefore, waited another 10 minutes. However, he was very apologetic and kindly offered us a round of drinks to which we declined. The food tasted very average, one Parma was burnt underneath, all the chips were over cooked and the ‘focaccia’ was a piece of bread piled with the fillings. Pretty disappointing.
We arrived around 8.30pm and they had live singer and acoustic music!
Great vibes.
I ordered a parma and that was HUGE! The mixed meat dish was a bit light on, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful!
Great venue, delicious food but a bit slow coming out. Friendly staff. Would recommend this place
The steak here is cooked to perfection - medium rare means medium rare. Friendly barstaff and a cool atmosphere.
Pros:
Food was great! Basic hearty meals for reasonable prices.
Cons:
The bistro is dark and tacky. The tables were sticky. No one welcomed us, seated us or gave us menus, but the staff were nice when we spoke with them.
The food was immaculate! The staff made me laugh and held a great conversation. Definitely recommend here!
Function room is okay, small and intimate. The upstairs toilet is tiny 1 unisex toilet for 50 people is not a vibe. Man pee all over the floor.
The hostess was extremely friendly and super helpful inspite of being short staffed. The food n the service was excellent too.
The beer fizzing was the cherry on the cake. Thank you for helping clean up the mess!
Waste of time eating out an stop using covid as a poor excuse to spend money on good quality products
Had a lovely dinner at this warm, rustic pub, first time visiting for me, but with family who have been before. From the friendly, attentive staff, to the generous servings of good food, and the best sticky date pudding ever! OMG! Quite enjoyable evening, thank you.
We made our way to Irish Murphy's after a local recommended the pub as a great watering hole. I am not joking, the food and service were fantastic. I want to especially mention Jordan and Kimmie who were so kind and thoughtful toward us after what can only be described as a very difficult day.
It's people like these two who are the real face of hospitality. Kind, kind people. ️️Thank you all so much.
We went for a nice fire on a freezing cold Ballarat day. The fire was broken and so was the men's toilet.
First visit the closed the kitchen early. Second visit, success. Guinness was great but expensive. Meals are good but very expensive. They are a plus plus restaurant. Order and you will find out. Service was good though. Tall brunette was a little abrupt. I would avoid her at the bar. Place was a bit cold, they seemed to be saving money on electricity.
Beautiful and authentic Irish pub with friendly staff and excellent service.
Super generous portions with the parmas being 375gm+! Great flavours too.
The restaurant is filled with unique Irish memorabilia - maps, signs and more. Olden days design with wooden beams, flooring and arches throughout.
Our new go-to while in Ballarat.
Food can be really scrumptious on a good day and the staff are friendly and it has a great atmosphere.love the vintage items rhat are everywhere to be seen.
