Fantastic customer service, cosy vibes and delicious, authentic Sicilian cuisine! The owner, Renato was very attentive to us all evening and you could tell how passionate he is about his food.
We tried the tasting course and for the amount of food you get, it's such a good deal! The entrees are a selection of various Sicilian classics, my favourite would be the eggplant caponato and the panelle (chickpeas) but everything was really yum. You can select your own main as part of the course. The pasta was so flavoursome with the ragu, and my favourite was the swordfish casarecce (seafood flavour was so good in the sauce!). You can also never go wrong with the dessert here!

My partner and I had lunch here today and the staff were amazing. The owner Renato (sorry if I spelt that wrong) went out of his way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. My partner was curious about a special that was no longer available and he went out of his way to make it possible even though we were happy to order other food.

He gave us a heads up that there might be a delay with making the dish of about 10-20 minutes, never the less both my pasta and the special were delivered at the same time and were both hot, showing the kitchen was well prepared.

The food itself was amazing and I cannot speak more highly of this place. 10/10 the best Italian restaurant I have been to ever.

Would recommend this place to anyone looking for fantastic, authentic Italian food.

Average food and slow service. Prices like in every restaurant breakfast in Melbourne. You can find better places for the same money.

Awful customer service. It was last night where My husband and I visited here.a guy came to us and said that are you going to have food? Because kitchen is very very busy so he can’t take our order. I said I just stopped by for some drink and he asked me back right away what I’d like to drink. He didn’t even get me the drink menu at the time.

A lady took my order and then 10 mins went by. When I started to think why a glass of cocktail takes so long, the guy came and said they are out of blue lagoon cocktail ingredients. Why did they take so long to check it out?

Here’s the last thing that made me furious. When I asked the other lady what time it’s closed, she said they have other customers inside so it’s okay to be relaxed and enjoy it. Right after the lady’s back inside, the guy came with my cocktail and asked us if it’s okay they cleaned the dining area outside and close in 10mins.wth.

While the food is very good, the serving size of the main serve of Pasta was extremely small, like an Entree size. Very disappointing.
Also, the two staff serving the outdoor section kept talking to each other in their own language. Very off putting, as you did not know if they were talking about you or not. Rather rude.
However, the taste of the food was very good but will not be going back in a hurry.

Great real Italian (Sicilian, to be precise) food, in a cosy place with a lovely and friendly atmosphere. Absolutely recommend. We wish we would live in Melbourne to make it our favourite place!

Great flavours with good service. Enjoyed the olives and antipasto platter to share. Very tasty. For main I ordered the Ravioli. As a vegetarian option the flavours were stunning. Good selection of wine by glass and bottle.

The only time i've ever walked out of a restaurant.

Made a booking with a friend to come here for dinner Saturday night. One of the worst "dining" experiences i've ever experienced. Terribly rude staff.
Booked to sit inside, and were told that the boss was disregarding all bookings and taking in everyone. We got seated outside, exposed to the elements and even questioned this.
After 20mins we ordered drinks with one waiter, then another 15mins later another waiter came by to take our drinks order and we said we had already ordered them and wanted to order food. After this within 5mins another waiter came up and asked us what drinks we ordered again as they missed them.
It was about this time that the rain started pouring down and we asked to move again seeing many empty tables inside and were rudely declined. Our drinks, the table and ourselves got absolutely drenched and we made the decision to leave.
The icing on top? They actually charged us for our rain filled drinks.

There are so MANY GOOD CHOICES IN MELBOURNE. Do yourself a favour and go anywhere else.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had!
When I booked, I made it for indoor not outdoor as I knew there was rain forecast.
When we arrived we were seated outdoors and told that the owner was disregarding all booking requests.
After being there 20 mins a waiter finally came and took our drink orders.
After another 15 mins a different waiter came for out drink order, we said we had already ordered drinks so we ready to order food, which we did. The waiter then comes back a few mins later and asks us what our drinks were again as they had been missed.
The the rain started coming down and our table and ourselves were getting saturated. We asked once again to be moved as we were becoming soaked and were told no!
The service was really appalling and there are so many great restaurants in Melbourne that I highly recommended going to any other restaurant than Il Nostro Posto!
Will never be back!

Appetizer/starter was really good.the arancini balls were just perfect and absolutely delish. The main course, fish of the day, pan-fried salmon with prawns and mussels was good but could have been better for the price of the dish ($35), more prawn pieces or a bigger piece of fish perhaps. Being a Friday evening, it was quite busy and noisy but a lively atmosphere. The people serving seemed a bit busy and one seemed a tad inexperienced, at one point we had to ask several times for the glass of wine we ordered to materialise. The food my mates ordered were also good overall but again could have done with that extra bit more oomph in terms of the taste pallette and quantity served for the price! All in all it was still an enjoyable dining experience and I would probably try them again another time.

Stumbled across this place last night in Hardware Lane, the food was truly divine! Pino and the rest of the staff took such great care of us. We had such a wonderful time we came back tonight! Safe to say it's an incredible place with unreal food, we are from WA only here for 4 nights and have eaten here our first two nights! Highly recommended the ravioli - it's an absolute dream! Thank you to all the staff for being so incredible.you are all truly wonderful at what you do!

The Italian food was not that good. The cold meats on the antipasta were of a Safeway deli standard. Disappointed of the quality for what we paid.

Came here on our first night visiting Melbourne. Was about 8pm (10pm NZ time) and we were quite hungry. The food was delicious, such soul food, like something grandma would make. Simple, but tasty and flavorful.

I recommend sitting outside if you can. The location and atmosphere felt like a little slice of Italy and we almost forgot we were in Australia.

100% will be going back next time we're in Melbourne and look forward to sampling more of the menu.

If only I could find panna cotta in Brisbane half as amazing as the panna cotta from IL Nostro Posto! It's been years since I had home made panna cotta this delicious! Thank you to all the staff who looked after my partner & I, we massively enjoyed our visit, the food was exquisite!

Fast service pre-show. Friendly staff that work their butts off. Gr8 food. In my opinion slightly pricey but worth every cent with delicious food that's not way oversalted like other places in Hardware Lane.

A lovely restaurant located in the iconic Hardware Lane in the heart of Melbourne. Ravioli della Nonna is absolutely delicious even my 8 yr old loved it!
Would definitely go back again.
