IL Nostro Posto / Funghi e tartufo reviews
68Went for a solo meal while visiting from overseas and had an amazing time! Incredible vegan food and drinks, great atmosphere, wonderful service. It felt very indulgent, in all the best ways. Particularly with the epic cannoli that perfectly topped off a delicious pasta dish.
After I wrote the bad review, the restaurant called me to “apologize. ” Thanks to the employee who wanted to take extra time to apologize, but a little tip for next time: Instead of trying to find the fault with me, you should just apologize and be fine. Accusing me of not mentioning that it was a reservation for my birthday is complete nonsense, I know full well that I said it was for my birthday! It's not my fault that the person who made my reservation didn't write down that it was my birthday. In addition, yes, we did not have to pay for the dishes that accidentally ended up on our bill. But I never wrote that in my other review! I just wanted to share my experience there that the waitress made a mistake. You should check the bill before bringing it to the guest. It doesn't make sense if there are 8 main courses on the bill for a table for 5 people when she only brought us 5 main courses. Everyone makes mistakes and the waitress was also very nice, I don't hold it against her at all. Nevertheless, you should pay attention to this in the future. But the way this man just spoke to me on the phone is unacceptable! Instead of apologizing he just accused me of things! Never come back, thank you for this friendly experience. I was so angry after the conversation that I had to write another review. The angry man really deserves it! Thanks:)
Loved it, loved everything about it. Service, food, atmosphere, they are so on to it and I enjoyed it all and I'd go again.
The atmosphere was great, the service was great and the staff was friendly and understanding. However, the carbonara is amongst the worst I've ever had; I wouldn't even call it carbonara. Parmesan cheese? Seriously?
It's a great concept and in theory Funghi e tarufo is a valuable addition to Melbourne's restaurant community, and to the vegan food scene. I can't say, however, that the reality pleased me a great deal. The food I was served on an empty Saturday for lunch was bland and served cold. The price hefty. The service was lackadaisical. And there was no atmosphere. This is all a shame and perhaps I had an unlucky experience, but at over $300 for two I won't be back.
Delicious vegan food and wonderful staff.
Love the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant.
I've had my eyes on this place for quite a few months now and finally got to try it.
It is a place that serves a lot of excitement alongside great food. They go to great lengths to mimic animal-based dishes, but in a totally vegan manner. That being said, be prepared to fork out a decent chunk of change when all is said and done.
Wife and I tried their meatball entree, swordfish, and carbonara and they were all impeccable. There was a great attention to detail across all dishes and as a vegetarian myself, this is probably the closest I'll get to a meat-eating experience. For instance, the swordfish was some form of plant-based protein with a thin strip of seaweed/nori around it, to give it an ocean-esque smell.
I do not know what real meat tastes like, but I can say that these dishes tasted really good in their own right.
The only gripe I had was with their virgin mojito. The drink was just fine, but at a hefty price of 18 dollars, it simply wasn't worth it.
Definitely a place I'd visit again, provided my wallet recovers from a mini beat-down
Highly recommend the truffle pasta. Best in Australia.
Vegan friendly and suitable for date night.
My only constructive criticism is to offer takeaway.
Best vegan italian food I've ever had with the most lovely ambience and great service!
We ordered the meatballs, the carbonara, and the swordfish, and they were all absolutely incredible. The meatballs and swordfish were absolute standouts - my omni boyfriend said they both tasted just like the real thing.
The flavors are super authentic, and remind me of food I had growing up, which has never happened at another vegan italian place.
All the prices are very reasonable for serving size and quality.
Such a perfect place for a romantic date or cozy and delicious night out! Could not recommend enough.
Amazing fully vegan Italian restaurant with solid flavors! Service is great too. Tasty desserts as well to finish the meal on a high note!
Had an amazing dinner here and experience here. Can recommend to all vegans and non vegans. Thank you!
So glad to have found this vegan Italian restaurant in the middle of the city. Lovely ambiance and absolutely delicious meals! Our favourite was the parpadelle fungi e tartufo. Will definitely return for more
Very good place, we tried the chef selection and we ate a lot! Not sure about the quality of food, I think some ingredients like mushrooms were not fresh. They could present the dishes in a better way but in general our experience was very nice, great staff and atmosphere. Price was high but in part I can justify it, these dishes require a lot of techniques
Very delicious food, good portions too! Highly recommend the pappardelle funghi E tartufo and gnocchi forest
Avoid. The calamari was just from a box. Add flavour to it. Do something to justify the price.
Our table was in a terribly awkward spot. Remove it from your restaurant entirely. Your staff bumped into me.
The food feels overpriced for what it is. The negroni I ordered was not like any negroni I’d ever had, in a bad way. I didn’t think I needed to read the ingredients of a classic cocktail. The 15% surcharge on a Saturday could have been stated MUCH more obviously. Below average meal and hit that at that register. Can’t recommend.
Amazing food. Amazing cocktail. Amazing service.
I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more!
Incredible, great service and the food was incredible! I highly recommend the truffle pasta, will be back
Amazing service and really good food!
The wait staff were very friendly and really quick with their service. Very impressive considering it was NYE.
Glad to have fully plant based fine dining option in the city! Definitely a must visit and definitely waiting for my second visit
Amazing restaurant! We were given a seat in the lower half! The waiter was superb, knew what he was talking about!
They prepared a spaghetti with pomodorro sauce for our little man, not on their menu - and $10 for that is a good deal!
The arancini and the truffle and mushroom pasta was finger lickin!
Will definitely be back when we visit Melb again!
Really wanted to provide an excellent review as I fully support what this place is doing regarding their entirely plant based menu. The service, atmosphere and food is lovely. Unfortunately the short cuts being taken to serve food have exposing cracks that make the experience unpleasant. The top half of my lasagne was delicious, but the bottom half was frozen solid. Last time, the food was again 90% delicious, but the outer edges were raw. Attention to details such as these would make the overall experience so much more enjoyable. Nobody asked how the food was at any point. Happy to give it maybe one final go before giving up completely.
