Wonderful food and service! We ate here tonight with 2 small children. Such a fabulous meal, and what made our experience even better was the outstanding, authentic service by the staff. They brought some pencils and our daughter did some colouring on the kids menu. Our baby son did his usual throw all the pencils/food/etc overboard and the waiter noticed I was picking everything up, and told me to leave it.
The service really made our night.
The food was really delicious (we had the arancini balls and 3 x pizzas). Thanks Il Gambero, our new favourite Italian in Melbourne. We'll be back!

Absolutely shocking! Do not EVER consider attending this restaurant. Waited 2 hours for our food to arrive as they forgot our order. No compensation. Was even charged a surcharge when paying our bill. If I could close down any restaurant it would be this one. The owners and managers are a disgrace.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. With delicious and unique options and fantastic flavours, my family and I loved the food we ate here, pizza and pasta alike! There was a great ambience, and the decor is very nice. Overall a great experience, I can't wait to eat here again!

I've been here so many times and ordered the same thing each time the spinach and ricotta cannelloni but this time it was strange instead of getting 4 small ones I received two big ones where the pasta was uncooked and the food was microwaved there was also some weird cheese sauce and it was cold in the middle. Staff always great and Dessert was amazing.

Absolutely fantastic dinner, the meal was mouth watering, and the beers were cold and flowing.great service!

Inauthentic Italian that is cheap and well below average and service that is interruptive and rushed. Disappointing on Lygon St.

Our pizza dough was tasteless and dry, our rissoto undercooked, and dessert and wine lack excitement.

The best Italian restaurant experience. Top class service and meals are delish! Tiramisu is hands down the best!

We were in a big group for dinner, friendly service. Unfortunately had to sit outside due to size of group. Food had good portion, reasonably price, I had the Marks special pizza, flavour could be abit heavy for some including myself. Overall good atmosphere abit of duf duf music from bar next door.

The food was generally nice but the service was lacking. It took us 10 minutes to get anyone's attention and another 10 minutes to get a bottle of Coke brought to us (we were sitting inside). It seemed like they could use a few more members of staff.

Lasagne just had a heap of meat on top, but the layers were totally dry. The meat sauce was unpleasant and salty. It was a struggle to finish.

Fantastic Italian food. Felt like home. Honestly this is one of the only Italian restaurants I've been to that beats out my nonna. I'm glad she'll never read this.

Also I was pressed for time and were kind enough to push my order to the front of the queue, really glad I chose this place. Serving size was great, highly recommend the cannelloni.

We went to Il Gambero as a group of 4 and we all enjoyed the delicious food. The service was good and the waiting time was reasonable. We will definitely return.

Opens fairly early for the Lygon area which is perfect for parents with kids. Food was very good too, big servings and easily share mains. Very happy.

Casual dining definitely worth the money. Very reasonably priced for the food taste and quality. Also quite decent food on the kids menu as normally you find very poor quality food at some restaurants. Long variety of items on the menu to choose from. I had the spaghetti marinara that came with a fair amount of fish. Good and friendly service although they missed a couple of things like making sure we had spoons with our pasta, or extra parmesan that we had to ask for. Minor stuff that really comes with more experienced waiters.
Would definitely love to dine the again.

Came here for a private function. I didn't realise that the restaurant had an upstairs area for functions. The area was really nice, modern and tastefully decorated. The finger food that was being served was tasty too.

Probably the best Italian I've ever eaten. The staff were friendly and there is very much a caring family vibe. If I lived closer I would be eating there all the time!
