Il Carretto Pizza Restaurant

Would have liked a score of 3.5. Only because I would have loved a photo of its Sicilian (IL carretto) without having chairs stacked unused chairs in front of it, for Photo. Food price is what you expect, some dishes portions were good e.g. Fish, and clamps pasta. Porter house steak for $32.00 more Vegies would have been nice. Otherwise waiters were good.

Beautiful authentic Italian food. All of the staff are warm and very welcoming, you can feel the family love within the business and it’s awesome! Since I started to work across the road this place has become my absolute go to for pizzas and pasta. The gnocchi is always fresh and delicious. I am on a mission to try all of the different sauces!
The interior is like a time warp but in a graceful way, so rustic and gorgeous and not gentrified like a lot of places are nowadays!

Really enjoyed a family meal, everybody enjoyed it. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because they had run out of the arancini balls and meatballs for entree.

My favourite newly acquainted family Italian restaurant! This restaurant has the most amazing decor and photos of famous people, and family everywhere! The meals are amazing, and very generous sizes! If you love spaghetti marinara like me, you will be very satisfied! Absolutely delicious and melt in your mouth! Meals Assisi come with a free serve of nice Italian bread. If you can fit in, in a range of lovely desserts are available too, and the freshly made tiramasu is mouth watering! Coffee and teas are great too! See you again soon Il Caretto! The waiter that served us was so friendly, polite and actuality very funny, he was great to deal with. The food however wasn't so exciting, it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to rave about either. A small and when I say small, I mean really small pizza was $16.00, it was nice but totally over priced. The pasta was the biggest disappointment, they took al-dente to another level, it was cold and very hard and the bolognese had hardly any meat in it. Overall we had a fun night but would I go there again to eat, probably not.

Luuuv this place, excellent pasta/pizza at reasonable price, great old style character and ambiance and warm wonderful staff, BYO wine and fully licensed.

Up there with one if the best pizza restaurants in Melbourne, if your after quality real traditional Italian cuisine this is the place to go.

Some good traditional Italian!

Food: always delicious traditional Italian food. Never disappoints. Have had many dishes here, the pasta never disappoints.

Venue: very Italian! All the pictures on the walls are a great feature, so many people have visited this spot.
A change in the seats would be nice, as they can get a little uncomfortable over time, otherwise a cute restaurant.

Service: attentive, though at times a bit abrupt. Overall okay.

Overall, recommend if you’re after a traditional Italian experience

Brilliant experience, great history behind the restaurant and a great menu. Ordered the Pizza Margherita and the Spaghetti Marinara, finally some good f****** food. All food seasoned perfectly, textures.wow.

I highly discourage people from visiting this restaurant. I have been a couple times, both of which i had to sit through my meal while the owner was screaming at the poor staff the entirety of the time. He comes across narcissistic and misogynistic. And for these reasons i will not be back!
Oh, and the food tastes like its straight out the microwave.

I've been coming here with my family for 10+ years, food is consistently great, lovely staff and we'll priced. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because it can get quite loud in there on a busy night.

Have been going here for a couple of years, and introduced to us by a dear old friend whom we eat there with when we go. Even my young kids love it there. The staff make them feel welcome, well all of us and the ability to choose whatever pasta with what sauce and etc is so great. For my personal taste the main tomato sauce, in say.bolognaise is quite salty for me, but others found ok. You can have your favourite of make something new to try so to speak. Always leave with a full tummy, happy and alittle left in the wallet too. Only draw back is the low ceiling which when its a full house the customer chatter is very loud. The sound has nowhere to go. Happily recommend and have returned many times.
