Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya reviews
81This team went out of their way with service. I appreciate the extra care taken to make a special someone’s day extra special.
Had takeaway and found it very good! Amazing packaging and portion size. So flavoursome and unique in some ways. Ordered Yasai Bento (loved this!) and Yasai roll.
Gi-normous quantity of food for small banquet. Service top notch. Planner made the booking and menu selection process very straightforward.
Delicious food! The small dishes were surprisingly filling and the produce used was high quality, all dishes were packed with flavour. & designated drivers - fear not! The mocktails are super refreshing and delicious. The atmosphere was packed in a cosy cool vibe with a lovely interior design that made it seem like you have some landed in Japan (or at least what you think it might be like.)
My favourite restaurant of all time!
Will always continue to come back and reccomend people to come here! Food is a 10/10, Venue is great, and staff are friendly.
You need to try the Prawns (pictured) and also the Chocolate spring rolls YUM!

Some dishes were excellent others not so great. I thought for the prices that they charge they could at least have proper chop sticks instead of disposable wooden ones
I'm coming back for that fried chicken!
Wasn't the busiest at the time we arrived (midweek), so service was quick. We went for the banquet menu and food was delicious! Everything came out in a timely fashion and wait staff were friendly. Would highly recommend to take a small group and enjoy
Delicious food. Great service. So much to choose from. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend
Staff were absolutely lovely, personable and very accommodating, definitely was the best part. Food was good. By far the worst part though was the bouncer outside (yeah, the restaurant has a bouncer. I get that he’s probably mostly there for the bars that are in the same building, but most people were going in for the restaurant). Didn’t really appreciate on a weeknight evening being interrogated like I was going into a nightclub. Beyond what is maybe in his job description, he was just odd and rude. One of the most bizarre interactions I’ve had in a while. I’m sure he was just trying to do his job, but he really could do with someone sitting him down and telling him to cool it a little bit, as it’s a pretty off-putting first impression. We left at the same time as another couple and they were remarking how they got similar treatment.
Cool venue but the service is slow and overpriced. One portobello mushroom is $10 - menu really needs to be cleaned up its really a mess and hard to read
Australian-Japanese fusion inspired menu, it seemed. If you're looking for an authentic izakaya, this isn't it. This is more upmarket, hipster, overly-expensive "Japanese" dining. Perfect for Fitzroy, but not anything like you'd find anywhere in Tokyo/Osaka.
First up, it’s extremely overpriced but more importantly, there are health and safety issues. One of our guests didn’t get their main until the end of the meal, gyoza were also late and stone cold in places (frozen?), the sashimi and fish definitely wasn’t fresh, tasted very strong and stank. Spent the entire day after with an upset stomach. Incredibly disappointed considering everything I’ve heard about this place. Avoid it like the plague and go to any number of other fantastic Japanese restaurants in Melbourne.
Good atmosphere. Service was good. Food was good but a bit overpriced especially the sashimi platter. Not worth the money. More cabbage than sashimi
Food was great, but the doorman was incredibly rude and very unprofessional. It’s a Tuesday night, we have a table reservation, there’s really no need to be so rude. We heard 2 other tables complaining about the same thing. Lighten up man!
Surprisingly decent. Definitely recommend the chilli ginger cocktail - subtle spicy kick to start the meal off. Scallops were fresh but the toppings overwhelmed the natural sweetness of the scallops. Karaage was really spot on - crunchy and juicy. The sushi portions were ginormous and swamped wjth roe and sauces. Not quite delicate but nothing too shoddy. Similar to the sashimi selection. Eggplant was definitely to die for.
Fabulous find! Although we were there on a Monday at lunch time there was still a great vibe to the place. Service was great and the food very tasty. Highlight was the crispy pork belly bao buns. Lotus chips were different yet yummy. Only negative for me was the price of the salmon sashimi. On the high side for the small serving, albeit very tasty so perhaps higher quality than the average place. Will be returning for sure!
Don't let the hardwood furniture (or the hard-nosed security dude patrolling the front door of the 3-level venue) fool you.there's subtlety and modern flavour in this Japanese joint. The cocktail list immediately makes you wish you'd left the car at home.or consider leaving it there. Sake infused and inspired drinks are delicious and set you up to wax lyrical about the food.especially if you go the banquet option! The dishes keep on coming. 1-2-3. GO!
The food was delicious! Really enjoyed the atmosphere at the restaurant. It wasn‘t very busy, which was nice. Once we‘ce ordered the food it was served quiet fast. They came always by our table to refill the glass with water.
We also tried the Sake (japanese wine). I personally don‘t like it. But its definitely worth a try if you‘ve never tasted it before.
Amazing Japanese food and drinks, we had the Lamb Saikyo, Pork Gyoza, Soft Shell Crab, Confit Duck Puff, Tori Teriyako and Agedashi Tofu all were very tasty!
If you are looking for a trendy Japanese restaurant with authentic drinks menu check this place out!
