HSBC Bank Australia reviews
41Gave them a go with a credit card but 6 months later I've closed it. I don't like the HSBC app, their complex processes and frequent delays. Staff are nice but not very knowledgeable about their own products or processes.
After having a problem communicating with my UK branch and telephone banking went to this branch to try and get a phone call to the UK
Initially poor service whilst most of the staff were either chit chatting to customers and cashiers not occupied and just seeming to be unconcerned I prepared to 'kick off'
This proved to be not needed as I was attended to by the customer service 'greeter'
Who kindly provide me with a phone link to the UK which solved the problem
Thus after a poor reception an excellent service
Therefore 4 out of five
Thanks HSBC Collins Street
Awful. Have somehow bought the inefficiency rampant in many Chinese banks here. 30min wait while staff idle about having a chat when it's not even busy.
It’s not easy these days to find the time to go to a bank branch and ask questions or to be on the phone.
I had a question regarding my upcoming overseas trip so I thought I use the HSBC chat function. It was instant and precise help with me achieving what I wanted in 2 minutes.
People strongly recommend to use this function.
Very good!
Customer service here is a joke, even you have a Premier Account. It almost feels uncomfortably comforting, that after you have the worst possible CS experience in your life, you searched the net, and you found hey actually it is not that bad, that some other people faced even worse things than you.
This bank is a joke, I asked for a current statement of my own account and they told me I need to pay $25. Withdrew my money and closed the account, every major Australian bank gives you one for free
Terrible customer service and experience - total lack of respect and professionalism. Would not recommend joining this poorly run bank.
Do customers really need to go to the bank to verify who they are? You should not given a license to operate in Australia.
This HSBC bank on Collins Street has very helpful customer service. Furthermore, a gentleman named Sam was great when attending to my banking issues. I would recommend this bank.
Only came in to open a savings account as online didnt work. Made to queue for 10 mins whilst one teller was on at rush hr lunch time. Then told to sit and wait. After a further 20 mins i left. What a waste of time!
HSBC has limited presence in Australia and typically their service is poor and their pricing high relative to local banks. Be careful of the hidden fees.
Worst customer service i have ever had.i went in to open an account and was asked to provide a proof of my home country address, not only in Australia. Passport, Australian driver license and proof of visa are not enough? The reason of this is because they call themselves global. Come on! To be a global, u need to provide a good customer service.
Nonsense! Most stupid bank ever! They ask customer to provide original copy of your home country address to open an account!
I went in to open an account
I was asked ‘do i have an account with another bank? ’ to which i said yes as i had an account.
The next question he asks is why do you want to switch. I mean come on is this really a question you want to ask to a potential customer. It was 20 minutes to closing time and he was not in a mood to open an account.
He stared to find excuses not to open an account. Finally he refuses to open my account on the grounds that the proof of address (other bank account’s details with out my financial info) is not sufficient He required account statements. Also he gave me an advice “It would be better if you come back tomorrow as we will be closing in 15 mins and the account opening takes time”
I would suggest Kindly visit some other branch.
This is a very badly managed branch even though I am a HSBC Premier customer. This place makes excuse not to certify documents for you, I ended up having mine certified at Melbourne Bank that I only have one small account with them. Last time I asked them to update something but I ended up doing this online myself. AVOID THIS BRANCH!
Never have I faced such dishonest and incompetent behaviour in my life. You should stay far away unless you like being swindled.in which case they be happy to help try make your life worse. SHAME on you
Unhelpful with my credit card enquiry. Referred me to use their computer to login to only tell me their system is out of date and couldn't guide me to complete my request.
Extremely poor service! Approved my card over the phone at JB Hifi but asked me to go to a branch when I wanted to close the card as my information gathered over the phone was not right. This is not customer service, its making your customer suffer.
STUPID security. You need 2 passwords + access code (must have capital letters, numbers, symbols, 7 digits blah blah.) And if you forget 1 of them, you must reset both, then, have to call a number to activate your new passwords by telling an India guy your access code + DOB + drivers licence number.
Other banks you can just login with a 4 digit PIN and reset with 1 text.
Really slow service. Poor communication and served mostly by trainees. Last time I'll be coming to this branch
