HOYTS reviews
46 Staff are usually lovely, and I don't have any complaints about this specific Hoyts–but it's all very pricey at the moment (even for student tickets, which are sometimes not available?). There is probably good reason for it, but it's still a big chunk out of my wallet.
I'd much rather go to a small cinema any day. But this Hoyts is very conveniently located in the CBD. It's close to everything. That's the main reason it gets my custom from time to time.
The screens are big, the seats are comfy. But I also feel this is/should be standard at most cinemas. Most people only comment on cinema seats if they're bad.
Was recently due to see a movie here on Sunday night following the attack on Bourke street due to work circumstances and my partner having to be at work related to this incident I co reacted hoyts about changing our session time to Sunday. I was told this was fine and someone would ring me from this cinema. That person rang me and it was arranged to change our tickets to the Sunday. She told me she would ring me back with the session time and confirmations no one ever rang me back and no one has replied to contacting hoyts since. Very disappointing as movies do not come cheap these days. Poor customer service.
Good location and good movie selection. We went to Lux for a birthday treat which is expensive. Meant to have a complimentary drink and popcorn. We had the popcorn but no drink in sight. There aren't that many people in the cinema for staff to do a quick count to make sure everyone has a drink. The starters and mains were also disappointing. I wonder if the chefs actually taste what they serve? All courses and choices we made were laden with salt. I wasnt expecting gourmet but even McDonalds wouldnt use that much salt. Could easily have been halved so we could taste the flavours. I dont think i will bother with Lux again.
For a cinema in the city- it is what it is.
Visited on Sunday for 710pm session
However
Sound wasnt that great. Can hear people from back rows.
Ladies Toilets were disgusting- every cubicle had overflowing sanitary bins, toilet paper in flooor or even no toilet paper. I told the staff member before going into the 710pm session to inform them of the toilets politely and she said she will pass that on. After finishing movie and going to the toilet- it wasnt cleaned - it was worse. On the way out noticed the floor area next to candy bar had rubbish everywhere. Told different staff member about toilet situation.
Its not hard to send one person to do checks every 20- 30mins.
Understand if it was busy or understaff but common. Have some urgency and attention to detail. Especially when 4 staff members behind the counter had time to chat.
Spacious movie theatre, surround sound. Great for family entertainment and shopping. Gets busy around 5pm when everyone (it seems like) from school or work flock to this site.
