Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

Take a chicken, flatten it to an inch of its life, crumb it, deep fry it, season it and serve it within 8 minutes. That's what Taiwanese Fried Chicken joint Hot Star does for $9. Surprisingly delicious, and very juicy. Definitely worth having a go.

The large fried chicken is amazing. I like to get it with chicken salt but I should start trying the other flavours. Definitely worth the 8 minute wait.

The waiting time is super super long for both ordering and waiting for the food. The staff are moving around very slowly too. They should hire more staff or train the current staff to work more efficiently.

Chicken and sides not as good as used to be. Also the staff there dont even speak chinese which is really annoying! When I finished ordering in Chinese they came up with I don speak Chinese! Then I have to repeat my order once again! You should probably make a sign say that the staff don speak or understand Chinese so less confusion in ordering! Also the price has gone up by more than 10% however the service has not improved at all! Also chicken and side are not even close to when it was 8.5! Very disappointing at this stage!

Honestly the best fried chicken I have had in Melbourne, especially with chilli on it! Worth the 8 minute wait as they cook it on the spot (makes it very hot!)

Check out for the delicious fried oyster mushrooms. Bit more oily, once a while junk food is good!

The large chicken was okay no flavor really but was cooked well. The breading is like tempura which becomes soggy if you do not eat right away. The main reason I don't like it is because of bones. The entire rib cage was left with the back bone. It was very strange to eat which I wouldn't have minded if it had flavor. I won't come back.

Been to the one next to chinatown.on 13/9 we brought one around 7pm, which is great tasty, crispy and juicy.on 16/9 we brought some at the same time, still tasty but the crumb is too thick.anyway, its good.

Another hot star? Same crud food, same stupid store design. They dont even reply to your emails. Store should be designed so people can walk in and their lines arent on the walkway also too slow with their service this place is bad

Food isn't bad but Saturday night only hiring one staff is seriously exploitation. Wouldn't want to support such business
