Hophaus Euro Bar Bistro

We searched out a venue a month before Christmas just for my wife & I and went into Hophaus and were greeted with open arms, shown around the venue and where lunch was to be set up, our only requirement was to be seated outside. Sat down at 11.30 today inside only no seats available outside. What was also disappointing not a Christmas decoration in sight. Food was excellent service was ok, would not recommend Christmas Lunch and won't be returning next year.

Service was terrible ordered meals and after waiting 20 mins was told we had to move there was a group coming in who had booked tables. There then was no where else to sit in restaurant, would have been hard to eat a steak standing up. They finally offered us a table that was booked but told us we only had 30 mins to finish and didn’t even have our meals by that stage. I would highly recommend that no one eats at this restaurant but if your looking for a beer it was ok.

Great selection of German beers and accompanying snacks, though on the pricey side. Nice view of the river and city as well.

Location great, drinks good but the food was average at best. Menu said sweet potato crisps but got cold shoestring fries instead.

It’s 08: 11pm on Christmas Eve and I’m walking out of the restaurant because they were sold out of their two main dishes. After waiting almost 20 minutes for a bottle of wine and a beer, we decided to order our dinner because we knew it was gonna take some time to come, but when we ordered our food (Pork Knuckle) we were told that they were sold out. The lack of planning and organisation was very disappointing and appearently they were short staffed as well, which makes things worse. The waitress that was looking after us was lovely but unfortunately because of all these matters our experience was terrible and our christmas eve, ruined. Thank you

Great selection of German beer for decent prices, live bands were great and staff were very friendly.

Hophaus was among our favorites for last few years.
Yesterday we went for a dinner with my family after busy day at school, work, etc.
I was so disappointed.
Grilled salmon "salad" was something, but not a salad.
Huge, dry chanks of vegetables. No dressing at all.
When I expressed my disappointment, staff did not react at all. I took my plate to chef station myself and asked to fix it. All they did- gave me a small amount of mayonnaise. No apologies or offers to fix or replace with something different.
Salmon was OK.
Pretzels looked and tasted like they were reheated few times before they came to our table. Dry with wrinkled and flaking skin. Not glossy as they supposed to be.
Will not recommended Hophaus to anyone and will never bring my family or friends to this place.

Nice location overlooking the Yarra! Food is pretty good! Nothing on Omas but still good! Drinks are pricey but to be expected for Imported beers!

Good range of beers, wine and spirits although local sparkling wine is well over priced. Food was good. Friendly staff.

Exceedingly slow service (after ordering drinks), food was very ordinary, colleague didn't eat his, so overcooked and full of gristle. Overpriced. Nice interior but don't eat here. Good selection of German beers the only redeeming feature. Disappointed.

Edit: we shared our issue with the meals and the waitress said she'd told the kitchen and thanked us for our feedback but that was it!

Amazing cocktails. The only downfall was the pork roll. No flavour to it so only able to eat a bit of it which was a waste of money.
Apart from that everyone else enjoyed there food.

Waited 25 minutes for beers to arrive, chicken schnitzel was deep fried overcooked and forgot the lemon, fries were raw and had to be sent back, incompetent and amateurish, no apology, could no longer recommend this place.

Great food, even better beer! Make sure your appetites are high, you'll definitely not complain of being underfed.

These guys are pretty reliable for a good feed and a drink. We have met other people there a few times in the last 12-18 months and the service has been very consistent. This time around it was just the wife, kids and me. Kids meals were half price on a Sunday which was a good deal. Can't go without the Pork knuckle.just do it!

The food is just OK and the beer selection is alright but only 1 gluten free beer available. The lamb in Haus Platte menu was nice I like it.

Good German beer and a good atmosphere. The bittenballs are quite good and so are the sandwiches. Nice place to sit and people watch.

Bloody ripper food! Combination of Aussie and German food done very well. The prices are pretty high but are expected when in Southbank:/ Staff are kind and food is served extremely quickly, even with the high poppularity! Would recommend on a night out:)

Decent quality food, but serving sizes too small for the price. The best part of this place is the view across the Yarra towards the city.

Had celebrated my wife's birthday @hophaus. Amazing food, nice ambience and super friendly staff. The yarra river view at night is just amazing. Me and family just enjoenjoeed d food!

Over looking the Yarra, Hophaus is beautifully located but sadly the "Loaded Bratwurst" that I ordered was a disappointment. It's was far from "loaded" and the bread was dry and crumbly. The saving grace of the day was the beer.as expected!
