Hophaus Euro Bar Bistro

Give this place a miss in Southbank. It was a hot sticky night in Melbourne, and this place's air-conditioning was not working well! Apparently, management (who are abroad) doesn't allow the employees to control the A/C! (bloody tight arses!)
The staff were hot and tired, the food tasted lovely. BUT the pricing for what you got was way too high! Everything was an add-on with extra expense. $12 for added fries (one serve!) (OMG) with a snitzel that already cost $27 and only came with a spoonful of coleslaw and some gravy!
DEFINITELY won't go back, way overpriced, not a pleasant atmosphere when it's hot, and the poor staff are exhausted!

It use to be good but it’s now very very average.
Poor selection of German beers and almost no German food except a flavourless pretzel with runny butter.
Seriously that’s the only German food! Ordered arancini (hardly German I know) and they came out hot but just mush inside. Taste was ok but wow how do you get that staple so wrong.
Lovely staff but that’s it.

It’s been 5 years since I last reviewed this place. This time I ordered the smoked brisket burger. It came with a side of chips that was crispy and delicious. However, the brisket was too dry but well seasoned. I would prefer some bbq sauce instead of tomato sauce that came with the burger. The highlight of the afternoon was most definitely the Lindemans Kriek Lambic Ale. Next time I will have more beer and have a few small plates of food instead!

Loved this place! Great beers on tap. The brewery is below the restaurant, so all their bers are brewed in house. We had Georgia serving us and she was amazing. In fact all the staff were excellent, incredible service! The food was very good as well.

This place was incredible. Such an amazing fit out, incredible staff and wonderful food! Highly recommend we had the best lunch for my dads birthday super kid friendly too offering colouring packs and high chairs

We had our staff christmas party at HopHaus this year and it was a great experince. We arrive to a nice table setting with bonbons for all of the staff. Food was good, and large servings. The staff were great, and patient with our staff. Thank you team!

Great beers, pork knuckle is again being made well. For a while there they were a lot smaller and served without sauerkraut

Due to a bad experience at a close by bar I ran over and frantically asked for a table for 12 people and if food could still be served
To my surprise the gentleman immediately went "absolutely bring them over"
It was super late and super unplanned but they got us all some food and saved our night

We hosted our work Christmas party at Hophaus on 16/12/2022 and had the most amazing night. The staff were so helpful and patient with us, going above and beyond to ensure we had the best event possible. Thank you all so much, it was definitely a successful night. I would recommend having any event here, to anyone! Our staff gave great feedback and we really are so grateful.

The staff were great and humorous and the vibes were going off at this place. However the chicken burger I got wasn't really for me. It was just really messy and super saucy and I couldn't handle it.

The roast pork loin was overcooked - the cracking was so tough you couldn't bite through it, the sweet potato was two skinny slithers. Also, there was half a charred, raw middle onion on the side. Strangely small portions for a Sunday lunch. And for $30. The staff also seemed quite miserable there. I wish I had ordered the parpadelle because at least that looked entirely edible. Good selection of beers, though!

Nice place. Have been dropping in here for a number of years. Staff are friendly and the service is pretty good. Seems to be in a bit of a hidden location. So look it up and give it a go.

A nice venue with river views overlooking the city and plenty of tables out on the balcony and inside, the ambience was such you could hold a conversation without shouting. Very friendly staff. German food & drink and both was well enjoyed.

Amazing EUROPEAN bar and restaurant. Not at all German like before.great euro experience all around.
They have moved on with the times.
Good to see.

But be warned.don’t complain if you want authentic German. Go somewhere else

The range of beer is amazing and all taste as they should, impressive compared to other venues I’m used to in Australia.

Tennents tastes as thought it’s just come from Glasgow.

Bloody brilliant joint, food was amazing and so many European beers on tap you can't go wrong. Staff are super helpful and can crack rippa jokes. A big hats off to the red headed bloke, I didn't get the mans name unfortunately but he could lift anyones mood up. I dont usually leave reviews but this place joint is something else! Keep up the good work!

Went here on the weekend with family and friends and really enjoyed it! The pork knuckle was out of this world! It’s a gorgeous looking place, with a great view and tasty food! Kid friendly too! We will definitely be back!

Average as many have mentioned food is not your main German fare or is it cheap. A cheese kransky looked more like a hotdog. And typical potato's in German are not French fries. Lots of better German eateries out they
