Burgers are huge! Delicious and fresh. My kids can only eat half. Great value for money. Family size chicken salt chips is fantastic generous portion. The place is so reasonably priced, perfect week night take away after work. Pleas Never change!

Love the food but far out the tall guy with black hair has an attitude problem and hasn't got a clue what customer service is, havnt been served by someone with such a disregard of any sort of politness in a while, needs to go.you've lost a loyal customer.

I am a local and had been going to Home to Roost for years. In the past 18 months, especially during lockdown, I have been very conscious to support my local restaurants and shops, particularly small family businesses.
Leading up to my last visit, I had called up in advance for my order and each time, they only started cooking it upon my arrival. And no, they were not busy on those three occasions.
During my last visit, I asked for extra chicken salt when ordering (as I always do). Upon tasting them, I realised there wasn't much chicken salt so I went back and politely asked for more. The owner then proceeded to lecture me that "chicken salt was 4 times the cost of regular salt and how expensive it is for me to have extra! ". He added my salt and said, "There! That's plenty. " Who says that? If it was so costly, charge me for it. I was too shocked to say anything and left but then realised how rudely I'd been treated. I went back in to complain and offered to pay for my expensive chicken salt. Mind you, he only added the smallest amount. He apologised claiming he didn't mean to be rude - not sure how his comments were meant to be taken! I now drive the extra distance to Chicken Central in Ashburton and Glenferrie Rd and have been for the past 18 months.
In these times when many small businesses are struggling, you'd think he would be happy for customers.

Very average chips. Soggy and not crunchy at all - chicken salt the only thing that makes them edible but this is no credit at all to the chips. Many green chips in my "medium" chips for $7 (serves 1). The chicken is very plain and average, no flavor. Salad is a waste too. Extremely overpriced for the tiny takeaway shop that it is. Avoid this place if you want quality and to not be ripped off

Great chicken burgers! Would be great to get menus you can view while outside so you don't block the que while deciding

The food is super good. But if you want to order some after 3pm on a weekday you're going to have to wait for ages in a long line because all the kids go there to eat after school.

Terrible service. The staff are incompetent and the owner does not acknowledge or honour his mistakes.
After initially having to phone twice to get my order through, and picking up a $90 repeat order to feed my family, I came home and all drinks and salad were missing. We phoned and were promised a “comp” meal for our troubles.
When it came tome to claim this, the owner offered $1.00 off for each drink ($3) of an entire order of the same amount. When I challenged this, he hung up on me.
I would not waste my time, your order will be incorrect and you will be disappointed.

This family operated chook shop is around the corner from my parents. It's delish! Chicken is brilliant and salads are next level. Service is always great.

My friends, if you like to pay $4.50 for small mixed hot and warm chips and pay a transaction credit card fee on top by all means be my guest not to mention $ 17.00 for a chook. Otherwise atmosphere waiting on footpath is great and service is fast.

They have a great range of salads to go with their gluten free roast chicken. A great easy combo for dinner. A winner from me.

One of my favourite chicken joints in Melbourne. The chicken is free-range and all roast chicken & chips dishes are gluten free. I love getting a whole chicken with chips and a salad and sharing this between two. It's super delicious and super good value. Their burgers are also delicious and grilled to perfection every time, I love the HTR with pineapple.

Very good food and service. Staff is amazing, always welcomed and prepare food on time. Owner Angelo, he is very kind of person he likes to communicate with customers.
