Home To Roost reviews
57Seriously love this place! Been coming here for many years. This is our weekly treat. Burger and chips. Burgers are consistently fresh, tasty and never soggy. Chips are nice and crispy but not too crunchy and nicely salted. The owner is a fantastic bloke, knows his regulars.
Always the best service and the food is even better! Also not robbing us of out money either! Very affordable
After asking if the toast chook was todays’s (later in the day) I heard an unconvincing yes.
The small roast chook was overly salted and extremely DRY.
For $18.50 you can do better at
Coles or Woolies for considerably less cost.
Over inflated price.
Once was enough…!
This place makes the BEST charcoal chicken and chips I’ve ever had. The chicken is very tasty and moist and the chips are delicious. I always call ahead and order now as they are so popular they often sell out.
We travel 40 minutes for these tasty burgers. If that doesn't tell you how good they are. I don't know what will.
A great option for a lunch take out at central park. I highly recommend any of the classic or gourmet burgers served with generous chips and salad. Additionally, there well marinated chicken are roasted to perfection (We often add it to our soup for the extra flavour!)
Great local chicken shop, the roast chicken and selection of burgers are tasty and very reasonably priced. Probably the best chicken and chips in the Malvern/ Glen Iris area.
Best charcoal chicken around. Perfectly seasoned and tender with always fresh chips that are some of the best we’ve had. Staff always friendly and we go at least couple of times a week.
This place is bloody delicious from their burgers, chicken, chips, salads and gravy. Home to roost nails it!
They are one of the best chicken shops who put so much effort into the way their food tastes.
Always will be back as their customer
I waited over 20 minutes for a simple order of a burger, small fries and a salad. People who came in to order after me were getting the orders before me. Worst service ever from you guys. Never again will I come to this place.
Best chips around they are perfectly seasoned and cooked. The chicken burgers are incredible. Friendly staff will definitely be coming back here again
Excellent whole roast chickens.
The take away menu looks good but I was just after chicken
Home to Roost is apart of the weekly routine these day! Can’t go past their quinoa salad, and their chips and gravy is my next favourite thing on the menu! So delish!
Cannot recommend this place enough. The salads are fresh and delicious, burgers are juicy and chickens are exceptional. The staff also went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary requirements as well as putting up with other customers who failed to treat the employees with any respect. Keep the great work up guys. Will definitely will be returning soon.
Only thing saltier than there chicken is the owner or managers attitude. Complete contempt towards ppl lining up.
Slow, rude service. Called to order and told 35 minutes. Waited for another 20 minutes, finally got the food from a grumpy guy.
Chips were soggy, chicken was under cooked, still pink. Sorry, won’t ever go back
Wow - what a rude owner. I am not judging the lack of wearing a mask properly, more the arguing and telling the customer in front of me "This is the way we fuçken do it" when they question there phone order management.
Very short with me and my mum. Not a fan.
The best chicken in Melbourne. Go to chicken shop for years. Delicious, juicy and flavoursome. Burgers are just as good and lovely front of house service too. Ange is your man for your next chicken fix
The good reviews and the fact the chicken and chips are gluten free were the main reasons for going slightly out of my way to get our dinner. The chips weren't too crunchy and were way over salted. The marinade on the roast chicken wasn't balanced and not that pleasant to eat. The chicken was dry (even the brown meat) which is pretty hard to do. The green bean salad was quite nice.
Overall we won't be coming back and disappointed with our meals.
Ordered from here the first time during lockdown this year. Very expensive, chips were soggy and lukewarm, service very average. Chicken just ok - not very flavoursome and a bit dry. Needed a quick takeaway meal before Xmas and decided to give it another go. Unfortunately nothing has improved. The guy serving me seemed rushed and didn't answer when I asked about sizes of salad. The chips were the best of the order, hot this time but lots of small overcooked ones. The chicken was really dry and tasteless. Surprisingly the drumsticks were way too pink close to the bone and we choose not to eat that portion. The coleslaw had the weirdest taste and was virtually inedible. Sadly most ended up in the bin. A waste of money and food. I always support local business, but do expect quality for my $$.
