Hobba reviews
74Food/coffee were good but staff are inexperienced, kept serving food and hot drinks OVER baby's head even after telling them to please serve things away from the baby
Incredible food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere! With $6 mimosas it's a must for a brunch!
This place is amazing! The vibe is fabulous and the staff are so accomodating. Wonderful place to set up shop for work if you are looking to get out of the office or home.
My Saturday was not going well and fate lead me here, Fortune took over.
The service was first class, the number of staff that worked together as a team should never be underrated. It looked busy and they made me welcome.
Coffee was premium, and the food was marvellous with their own twist and flavour.
Thank you
There’s no denying it, Hobba sure knows how to draw the crowds in Prahran. This former mechanics garage was turned into a café last decade, and since then has expanded into an events space with many tying the knot at this Malvern Road site.
The venue offers an abundance of space, with equal measures of natural sunlight. Father and son, John and Con manage a strong team servicing the plethora of tables, booths, and bar seats both inside and street-side. The vibe here is electric, and I always feel doubly energised after my failsafe espresso.
In the kitchen, their chefs have pulled together an invitingly menu that welcomes us into autumn with a warm embrace. Everything from the sweet Ricotta Hotcakes filled with citrus &
vanilla mascarpone, to the savoury Lamb Kofta Salad with Israeli couscous. They even have alcohol shakes and traditional cocktails, and the Salted Caramel & Bourbon Shake is certainly one for those that love an American barrel-aged whiskey.
A wonderful experience at Hobba. Good food and the coffee was fantastic. A variety of plant based milks choices and GF options. The service can be slower on weekends but the staff are fantastic and very friendly.

Not really ‘hot cakes’ though…. More like dry flat muffin cakes. Couldn’t tell there was ricotta in them at all.
Always a solid local hangout for all day brekkie and brunch. Great food and drinks menu and usually daily specially. Available for functions and private gatherings at night. Industrial decor is bang on for a converted mechanic's garage.
Great atmosphere but sadly disappointing! Been coming back every couple of years and each time I'm disappointed.
This time I got the chilli eggs and (see photo) it was hardly enough eggs to fit on a piece of toast, no sides or garnish and for $22 I expected more.
Also I ordered a $9 juice but it was obviously made much earlier in the day with ice and was totally watered down when it arrived on the table. However this was corrected and a fresh one was made for us which was good. And we weren't charged for the juices which was very kind.
Will try again soon.
Just popped in for a takeaway. Was really nice, fast and affordable. Will have to stay for brunch one day
The atmosphere is lovely with great vibes. The food was pretty good too. Was bit annoyed by the waiters who kept coming and asking if you're done when I still had food in my bowl. When they came 2nd time I gave my bowl away which still had food in it. Just felt like they wanted us to get out rather than sitting and enjoying the food slowly. I only gave the bowl away because I felt shy to tell someone 2nd time Im still eating.
Great atmosphere and service, however the food and coffee were average at best if not subpar.
We had the fried chicken and waffles (3/5) which was all right and the wolfpack burger (2/5) which honestly tasted like mcdonalds.
You need mega patience if you want Saturday brunch. Not sure if they are short on staff, but we had to stand for several minutes to be seated at one of the empty tables. Our order was taken in a reasonable time, but there was a long wait for food, and our drinks came well after our food. Southern fried chicken burger was okay, but the chips were nasty.
Cool place with a great vibe. The space is great, light & airy, with booths or tables, some along the wall with charging stations - nice touch!
We wanted a breakfast/brunch place but somewhere we could also get items to take away for our day out to Werribee Open Range Zoo, well Hobba ticked the boxes on all counts and then some!
My husband was on a mission to have the Hot Cakes after seeing the photos on various reviews. WOW! These are on another level of yummy decadence. My daughter & I immediately had food envy so we all had to have a bit!
Straight away our daughter said, ‘Can we come again tomorrow? ! I want to have Kids Hotcakes! ’ Errrr - that was a firm YES! We ended up coming back twice more, one of which was our last stop on the way to the airport to catch our flight back to Sydney!
It was soooooo worth it and a real highlight of our trip to Melbourne.
Coffee is fantastic too, as is the service, attentive without being overbearing.
Thanks Hobba! Can’t wait to come back again!
Cool urban warehouse with fun and unpretentious vibe. Highly rate the special board (Kitchen team are always creating new dishes) and the Coffee is the best in neighbourhood. 5 stars ️
It's an absolute delight to go and eat here. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is really cool and vibrant. We went as a small group on a Sunday morning and I would highly recommend going with friends you have lots to catch up on with because it was very busy and we had to wait a bit for our food and drinks. On our end, that wasn't a problem because we had so much to talk about that I was secretly grateful it took so long so we could catch up on everything and then just settle into happy eating when our food arrived. It wasn't our first visit and certainly won't be our last. Looking forward to eating here again!: D
They have removed the most amazing savoury french toast from the menu - it isn't the same unfortunately
Delicious, well priced food and lively, happy atmosphere. Waiters sometimes seem undertrained so they had some difficulty taking our orders but perfect otherwise.
No doubt really interesting food menu and delicious meals. As for coffee wise IT IS HORRIBLE. Ordered a soy cappuccino; it was lukewarm, overly bitter and had no foam as to how a cappuccino is meant to and hardly any chocolate powder on the top. Also ordered a normal latte; it had double layer foam and was just horrible.
Beautiful and spacious place with nice juices and food. The coffee is also pretty good. Staff was kind and with good customer service. Highly recommended it.
