HiFi Restorations

After seeing such good reviews, was genuinely surprised by my own bad experience.
Called to ask about getting some vintage high end hifi equipment serviced/repaired. Was met with flippant disregard from Andrew who rudely told me to get new speakers.
I understand he may not have the competence to manage all equipment but at least be upfront about it. When asked, wouldn't offer any possible alternatives for the job.
Searched further on Stereonet and found someone else in Thomastown who both understood and had immense respect for the specific gear I had. Did a great job.
A very pleasant contrast to the needlessly abrasive and unprofessional attitude from Andrew.

Excellent service had a turntable long overdue for a look in.fixed all problems working like a dream now very fast response friendly and very knowledgeable well priced highly recommend.

Brought in my old Audio Reflex Turntable which was not sounding great and had a few other minor issues, I thought given its 42 year age it was done. Andrew has breathed new life into it, recommending and retrofitting a new cartridge. The sound quality is unbelievable, very happy. Great all round service, will definitely return in the future.

I made an email enquiry regarding some pre-loved parts to upgrade my Sondek and was nicely surprised to receive a personal call from Andrew in which he provided some very helpful advice. On this occasion I didn't proceed to buy anything, but I will certainly be going back to HiFi restorations in the future.

Andrew fixed up my Pa's Linear Design Ld-500 turntable to perfection. After bringing it out of our attic, and trying to get it working, we took it to HiFi Restorations. Andrew replaced the belt, the bearings, recommended some further accessories to keep the records playing well, and tuned all settings. Simply took it home and plugged it in and the now 50 year old player is running to perfection. Highly recommend him to anyone.

Had some issues with my TD 160 that were beyond my pay grade. Needed help and found it nearby in the form of Andrew. Left it with him on a Friday and said there was no hurry. Had it back Monday in perfect working order! Excellent service, thanks Andrew.

Andrew replaced the set of Springs on my Linn turntable, and completely adjusted and calibrated everything Inc.cartridge overhang and tracking.
He was very prompt, great with communication and price was very reasonable.
And my turntable has been transformed, couldn't be happier with every aspect.

Andrew did a fantastic job fixing our Cairn Fog 3 CD player. This is an old and unusual machine so for someone to repair it so effectively and quickly (2 day turnaround) is far beyond what I had hoped. Highly recommend!

Andrew recently recapped my Naim 135 amps and my Hi Cap power supply for my Naim 32-5 pre amp. I am blow away by the improvement after reinstalling the system. My Linn Isobariks have never sounded so detailed, dynamic and controlled. I can thoroughly recommend Hi Fi restorations for anyone who wants to rejuvenate their LInn and Naim equipment.

I had my Kenwood Basic C1 Preamplifier repaired and Basic M1 Amplifier checked by Andrew at HiFi Restorations and returned in within 10 days.

Getting advice is easy! Getting good advice is not so easy!
With lost sound to one speaker suspected as being a loose cartridge wire on my turntable, I took the unit to Hi Fi Restorations.
The fault was found to be some where in the amplifier circuit and therefore time consuming to trace.
Andrew's suggestion was to put in a Rega Mini pre-amp to by-pass phono input as that would probably work out to be a) less expensive than chasing the fault and b) should give a better sound.
Pre-amp installed and tested with a well remembered LP. Sound had noticeable greater clarity and depth.
Andrew's advice was right on the money and it was done with no sign of haste or impatience.
Just the sort of service not always experienced in our hurried world

Thanks Andrew, my goodness our Technics SL23 turntable sounds so sweet - we've done nothing but play records this afternoon!

Andrew was really helpful in getting our turntable, amp and speakers back in working order and took time to explain how to use it all properly. Would gladly recommend.

I recently aquired a Koetsu cartridge which I found impossibly hard to align! After a few quick email exchanges with Andrew, I brought in my turntable. The next day, it was ready, with a perfectly aligned cart, and the table makes beautiful music.

He was very professional, and was very knowledgable in what he does.

By the way, sorry about the weight of the turntable!
