Hector's Deli reviews
59Wow Wow Pow Bam! A mouth watering, smack on your taste buds. Super tasty gourmet sandwiches, single choice in Beef, Ham, Chicken, Veggie options but each one is worth it. They make great quality coffee also. On weekends there is 30 minutes wait but is totally worth it. Great quality ingredients, made with love and the staff and service is exceptional.
Hector’s Deli?
- Beef and Pickles $16?
- Cheese $1
- Hectic Sauce $2
- Latte $4 ️
Worth the hype? I think so! Pricey? Very! Best sandwich in Melbourne? Haven’t tried all of them but so far the BEST!
Their hectic sauce is the SOUL of the sandwich! The tanginess and heat complimented so well with the beef and pickles. Their bread was perfectly carmalised. It was such an indulgence! $19 for a sandwich is very expensive but defs worthy getting the sauce. Cheese is optional but of cox the more the merrier. Besides, I am no coffee expert but really enjoyed their coffee.
Remember to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds
Came here because we craved for something small for a quick bite. But boy we were wrong! Don’t underestimate their sammie, not only are they great portion in size, they are also so delicious and very satisfying!
Tuna melt had a really nice bite to it and the filling was so packed and full of flavour! The crispy battered chicken has a great crunch, and it was sandwiched between pillowy textured buns. We will be back! X
A crisp Saturday morning, fresh out of lockdown, my friend suggests we tee up some warm deli sangas. We've driven past a few times, seen the occasional queue, but we'd never really checked it out.
The regret we had for not coming to Hectors Deli sooner. I can categorically say this sandwich has completely changed my perception of the humble toasted sandwich.
The bread. Buttery, crispy, the perfect crunch with every bite yet somehow pillowy soft. The cheese stringy, gooey, the perfect squeak when you chew. But the star of the show, the tomato chutney. It was sweet, it was tangy, it was tart, it even has a nice bit of heat to it.
For something so simple, this sandwich was so elegant in its construction. I have no idea what you guys did, but it is hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. I'd pay $15 just to WATCH this sandwich get made.
Best beef toasted sandwich ever! Took some home for takeaway and devoured it:) nothing special about how it looks but heres a photo of the coffee:) :)
Great coffee. Good ham and cheese but was not sold on the hyped chicken sanga. The bun was very heavy and just not a fan of thigh pieces in general. If you r not weird like me you might love this.
Never expected to find a gem on a random lunch day.
Tried chicken sandwich, and it was so good don't have exact words to express. Be cautious of limited space they have and be ready to wait, I went for a Monday lunch:)
Really enjoyed the sandwiches here! I'd recommend both the chicken and beef + pickle sandwich as they were both great! Has some out door seating but most people were there to takeaway.
DEEEELICIOUS! I have just devoured by first chicken sanga and i loved it. It was messy, heavy, tasty, crispy - amazing. Looking forward to trying the beef and pickles next.
I walk to this shop a lost man - my whole life wandering aimlessly it seems.
I walk away from this shop a man with purpose - my life now given meaning.
Never have I had such a delicious sandwich as this
Overrated. 30 min wait on food and the beef/pickles is consistently unavailable on weekends. Probably better on a weekday
My goodness! The only thing I can say is the wait is worth it, the calories are worth it, and making a mess of myself is definitely worth it! Photos and words are insufficient to give this place a fair review, just come and try it out yourself. 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
Oh boy if you’re looking for a chicken schnitzel sandwich that will knock your socks off, look no further.
Small bun. Big chicken. Great taste
Saturday mornings are my favourite time of the week. No alarms, no dress code and no socks needed.
This is always the perfect opportunity to venture outside our usual comfort Saturday morning picks to try out new places recommended by my brunch brethren (you guys).
This weeks pick was this small corner deli- Hector’s deli.
The reviews were raving so of course my curious mind and tongue had to go try.
Upon arrival, the long line was indeed a good indication.
Menu- simple and refined.
Having read the reviews, we went with pastrami and pickle sandwich with their hectic sauce and cheese as well as the classic chicken burger.
Pastrami and pickle sandwich was perfect, fatty meat cut through by the pickles and sauerkraut. Would definitely recommend the hectic sauce as well for that extra saucy tang.
Chicken burger was lightly fried with panko and complimented well with pickled mayo sauce.
Having said this, my craving for fatty deliciousness was only satisfied by the pastrami and pickle sandwich.
Coffee was as per the normal high quality Melbourne coffee standard.
Deli itself was small but provided outdoor bench and table seating.
Most people seemed to order takeaway.
Overall this was a lovely find and I thank you all for recommending this place.
Keep up the good work and we will definitely be coming back to try other delicious sandwiches (don’t you go anywhere tuna sandwich!)
I’d been meaning to visit Hector’s for a long time and I’m so glad I finally did it. I ordered the Beef + Pickles with added Cheese and Hectic Sauce and it was UNREAL. Super fresh, loaded with flavour and fantastic size for the price. If you’re wondering whether or not it’s worth it, I can assure you it is! There’s usually a wait so be prepared for that. I can’t wait to come back and try the infamous Chicken Schnitzel sandwich!
You need to come early to pick your sandwich of your choice. We came at around 12pm, and all was sold out except the tuna melt. I didnt really eat tuna, but the tuna melt was worth the 20mins queue and 30mins wait.
Would have appreciated if the staff had come out and told the 20+ people in the queue that there were only tuna sandwiches left (or displayed sold out on the menu board). Only found out after we reached the counter and were told. Coffee was lovely though, and staff seemed really friendly.
Easily my favourite sandwich deli in Melbourne. Brilliant service, love the outdoor seating area and the sandwiches are sublime. The chicken sandwich is out of sight- crunchy, juicy and well seasoned chicken, the tarragon butter is brilliant, and especially when you add the hectic sauce and cheese- easy 10/10 rating.do yourself a favour and order two- one for lunch and one for dinner
My favourite go-to place when I’m craving for a crumbed chicken sandwich. They serve a generous portion of chicken and it goes really well with their melted cheese and potato bun which is really soft.
