Hanoi Hannah Express Lane reviews
58The food here is mostly good but I find it quite overpriced. $14 for 5 little spring rolls that seem like they came from the frozen aisle at the supermarket. If they had consistently excellent quality food I could understand and be willing to pay and be a return customer.
Friendly service and tasty food, maybe just a tad pricey compared to other Viet places, but also better quality ingredients:)
Good food! The woman at the counter was very nice. Only downside is they don’t put any detail about dishes on the menu, therefore you end up with chilli & peanuts etc in your dish when you didn’t even know about that.
Rude girl with blonde shaved head at the counter wouldn’t accept cash for a lunch order, despite it being legal tender and an offense NOT to accept it. Order was nearly $80 and had the cashier wince when I attempted to hand 2 x $50 notes over, only to be told that Hanoi Hannah “do not have the facilities to accept cash”. It might be your preferred method, but it is not legal to turn away Australian Currency.
The restaurant was empty, the chefs standing around and it was 12pm on a Monday when the restaurant would usually be packed and rather than serve me you turned away a paying customer. What you are doing is illegal, discriminatory and despicable and a complaint will be filed with the relevant authorities as this kind of behavior won’t be tolerated.
I was a long standing patron at Hanoi Hannah and it’s sister restaurants but instead will give my business to other locally owned businesses like Nguyen’s Hot Bread on Chapel Street around the corner from Hanoi Hannah (plus their spring rolls, Pho and Bahn Mi are MUCH fresher).
I sincerely hope that covid shuts arrogant operators like this down, because there’s good businesses out there worth supporting that don’t discriminate against patrons or turn patrons away for paying with cash.
Had Sticky Pork Banh Mi last week and it was so good! Full of juicy pork and crackling Decided to have it again but this time it was mostly devoid of pork and cracking. A tasteless stingy offering that disappointed massively. Does HH have a standard? Will try it one more time but not hopeful
The XO pho was super tasty, absolutely loved it. The broth has a great depth of flavour without being heavy handed. Enjoyed the rice paper rolls but wish the tuna was either cut thicker OR had more tuna as it does get lost a little. Still yum though and I’d be keen to try some of the other versions. Ordered through door dash for takeaway and everything was packed really well and arrived quickly. Super happy tummy this evening!
Having always loved Hanoi Hannah, we were so excited for our delivery. Honestly, every time we used to.visit their small but could dinning area in Elsternwick we have had their rice rolls and salad bowls. And honestly love it.
This time we tried their chicken curry together with the usual salad bowl, and they were very unimpressive.
Chicken curry was runny and flavorless. Chicken was hard to.find (not literally but they charge decent for us to be happy with mere three or 4 pieces of it)
They are definitely expensive for otherwise value for money meals.
Hopeful that this was our bad luck, and maybe next time it will be better (if we at all order a delivery from here) for us to change our opinion here.
My fave Vietnamese in the area. Best pho and the banh mi is yum as too. The staff are always so lovely and accommodating for any changes asked for food preference or intolerance to the best they can, no hassles. I can always count on Hanoi Hannah as my fave healthy comfort food on any night of the week go to.
Such a great dinner!
Popped into their express store and our food was ready 7 mins later.
Vermicelli noodles with sticky pork was delish and wife's chicken slaw was packed with yummy chicken!
Happy campers!
Really disappointed with my meals tonight. Ordered 3 dishes, all tasteless and not worth the price point. I have previously been very impressed with Hanoi Hannah but tonight I have been left super disappointed.
Great tofu Bahn Mi, super tasty. They don't do coffee but have good choice of teas. I had the Jasmine, $5 a pot!
(Dine in) Tasty, fresh and quick. Tofu Bahn Mi & Chicken Bahn Mi. Friendly wait staff that considerate of food allergies/preferences. Food going out to other tables looks great.
Somewhat disappointed with the cost to portion.
Severely over priced
I decided to try this place out because it’s near by, but oh my goodness.
Basic dishes for a ridiculous price.
Flavour is ok.
20$ for a bowl of egg noodles.
Mental.
We ordered the lemongrass beef & northern style chicken curry for delivery and were disappointed. Upon opening the beef we found a long hair in the food (gross) ; the noodles in this dish had nice flavour but the beef was too salty and tough. The chicken in the curry was really bad cuts of meat & a very small amount of chicken, the curry itself was really lacking flavour, almost like an unseasoned broth
Nice spot to pick up some viet food. It could be better for takeaway since the place is pretty small and weekends is super busy.
Came here with 4 friends, the place is very small so make sure you book for bigger groups. Seems like they mostly cater to ubereats orders. I had the soup with xo sauce, slightly on the expensive side but definitely worth it. The soup was full of flavour and the serving was a good size.
The vegetable stir-fry was amazing and the peanut sauce that came with the rice paper rolls was one of the best sauces I've ever eaten. No bathrooms in the restaurant but otherwise it was perfect.
My husband and my self ordered bowls of noodles with vegetables and tofu.
We got bowl filled with soggy noodle (with soya sauce) few tofu’s and we needed to search for the vegetable.
When I explain to the waitress she said there is new chef.
We will never go back! Highly not recommended.
Very bad, meat was raw. How can i eat raw beef pho? Not recommend at all. Duck roll have bad smell too. First and last to order deliveroo with this vietnamese restaurant.
Friendly, quick service after nearby hospital visit to celebrate stitches out.
Delicious crispy AND tasty Spring Rolls, Yummy Pho - with all the fresh herby goodies & noodles in a real broth) and hearty pork belly Bahn Mi on crusty baguette.
All eaten so cannot post a pic.
Just do it!
