Great Ocean Road Resort

Great Ocean Road Resort is certainly the Gateway to the Great Ocean Road, we found this Venue outstanding, great reception by both Andrew and Sarah, magnificent accommodation together with the use of tennis court, Gym, Heated indoor pool, the rooms were very well presented, staff well attired and respectful …. Yes the list goes on… very well maintained units and landscape …. Spotlessly Clean venue and so centrally located…. The eatery was superb, great ambience …. Will definitely make a return

I think this hotel/resort represents incredible value. Our room was very clean, spacious and well appointed. We had all that we needed. The outdoor area at the rear of the property, teamed with the tennis court and trampolines was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here and would absolutely return. Location is perfect, with supermarket (IGA), cafes and restaurants within walking distance. And do yourself a favour and get up early and go watch the sunrise over the ocean at the lookout just 10-15 min walk away. You will not be disappointed. We loved our time in Anglesea and at The GORR.

Wow! We had 3 rooms across two families and were so impressed with the quality, location, staff and facilities.

Great value for money and the kids were entertained for the whole stay from the indoor heated pool to hours on the jumping area to twilight games of tennis.

There was so much for the kids to do they didn't even spend time on their devices as they were active the whole time.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant was brilliant. It even had well priced kids meal options.

The town centre is only a short walk away for great coffee and bakeries and takeaway options for meals.

Short walk to beautiful beach and fun hire boats and canoes for the river just across the road.

We will be back. A great holiday for the gown ups and the kids.

Very good accommodation and rates. Good food at higher prices. Great amenities.
Minor complaints were a noisy air conditioner that came on at 6 am, and slippery tiled shower floor.

5 star all the way! Staff, facilities, customer service and location everything is outstanding. I stayed here overnight and rode to Lorne on my bicycle to attend Amy’s Gran Fondo on Sunday. I highly recommend it. Coming back next here. Thank you

Service was great, kind staff and very welcoming upon arrival. Facilities were unexpectedly impressive too, decent gym, tennis court and trampoline area for kids and adults. In-room furniture had me wanting to extend my stay. Only qualm I had was the on site self serve laundry and dryer. Having to time and race other visitors to use the single laundry and dryer machine to do your washing load was a bit of a nail biter. But an easy fix going off site if you want to.

The most friendly and accommodating staff. My friend and I rocked up feeling unwell and the staff were compassionate and went above and beyond. Great rooms. Quiet at night.

We had a fabulous stay at the resort. The suite was stylish, comfortable and clean. The staff were very polite, welcoming and friendly and it was great value for money. My son loved the trampoline and we all had a swim in the pool. We will definitely be back.
It would be a good place to stay whilst checking out the the local area, (Lorne, Apollo Bay and Anglesea)

Recently we stayed at the Great Ocean Road Resort. During booking our stay it was made clear that we were celebrating and that the group would consist of two couples. Once arriving at the room, we were shocked that the room was unlike the photo's on the website where you should not be fooled, it looked nothing like the website. The room was cold and unwelcoming, it was poorly furnished and well used. There was one split system to service 3 closed rooms and the room with windows were freezing cold over night due to the lack of Isolation or double glazing. As earlier it was made clear that our party would have two Couples, however the rooms were a double bed and 2 singles. Including Adult and Child like towels. There was no resort like gifts waiting our arrival.

One of the reasons we chose to stay at the resort was that there was a indoor heated pool, upon arrival we were informed that there was an issue with the pool heating and while a being a few degrees cooler, it was "still warmer then the sea", we were told. We were not advised while making our booking, the resort was informing visitors via email after booking of the pool status which we'd hadn't received. After reviewing other reviews they had stated the same, so it appears to be a regular if not standard issue with the pool heating.

The bathroom was a small standard toilet and bathroom, nothing special of note and again failed to live up to expectations. It was well supplied with Toiletries and your standard hotel soap supplies. However when water was used in the Bathroom or the Kitchenette, there was loud whining noises and rattling, through the room if not other rooms in the same block.

While the room felt unresort like, the outside appearance and garden was well kept, including many amenities like Tennis Courts and a Gym. The biggest highlight of our stay was the onsite Restaurant where the food and service was amazing, we were lucky enough to have had this included in our stay package and didn't have to pay for it on top. The Included Breakfast was a do it yourself Toast with Butter and Jam, or muesli with Milk each at $50 which we were glad we didn't have to pay.

Possibly it would have been a different experience in the warmer months. Don't be fooled by the Resort naming, it can be a cheap stay so work for those inclusions and there is a lot to be enjoyed in the local area.

Some issues with maintenance with room. It would do for the weekend. My advice is don’t go for the breakfast option. We had the avocado fritters, burnt, greasy and well over spiced.

Great Resort for a quick getaway 115 mins from Melbourne. Overlooking Anglesea river and 5 min walk to the beach.great sized rooms with amazing facilities. Pool, Gym, Tennis Court, Trampolines, Wellness Centre. Will be back A+

Wonderful boutique hotel on the Great Ocean Road. Restaurant food is delicious, breakfast is simple but nice, tennis courts are very popular, and live music on the weekend was a great way to relax.

There were a few issues. The mattress sank towards the middle. No instructions on how to use the induction cook top, initially it did not turn on had to reset all the fuses to get it working.
Regret getting the spa room as we did not use the spa in the room but used the spa in the pool instead, which could have been a bit warmer. Was surprised when we went to have a shower in the pool room as it turned out to be only cold water.
Also, the spa in the room was very slippery, nearly had an accident getting into the spa for a shower, it was nice and big, but it made the bathroom very cramped. Even though we did not use it again no instruction to turn on a switch in the kitchen for it to function, found it by accident while trying to get the induction cooktop working.
A few minor issues, the frying pan was too big for the induction cooktop, so it did not work efficiently, the only kitchen knife as dull as a butter knife. Access to the units very tight hard to get a car in and out, especially as i have an MG which has a very poor turning circle.
The biggest highlight off the stay was the indoor heated pool and spa, only let down by the cold shower.
The location was good, we could walk to shops and food from 100 to 600 m.
The ocean was close by.
A let down was the quality of the food, most was expensive as you expect from a small tourist town, but the taste was not good. The Japanese restaurant was the worth we have tried, way too salty, we had 3 different dishes all way to salty and my son likes his salt.
The Thai food we got was one of the better meals which is not saying a lot just that at least it was not too salty, but at the same time the pad thai, was lacking all the normal pad thai flavors.
One highlight was a berry tart from the bakery, turned out to be the best value item for the whole trip.

Great Ocean Road provide such a fantastic experience, we had the girls day of bliss and add a 30 min massage and Wow! I’m a new mum with a super sore back and she fixed my back! Both my friends said it was the best massage they had ever received so the spa is a must do! Thank you for having us can’t wait to come back!

Stayed here for a weekend.
Car park is absolutely horrendous way too many cars for the amount of guest staying.
Paper thin walls and can hear your neighbours very easily.
Wasn’t the cleanest of stays as well.
Rooms during the season of daylight savings are very bright and unable to get much sleep
Room was located right next to laundry and could hear washings machine ect none stop
Lots of banging

I stayed at the resort yo relax and it was great. The packaged accomodation, breakfast and dinner was just perfect for a getaway.
The spa was available and the staff is very attentive.

We had a very enjoyable stay, everything you need right on the property. Breakfast straight to your door. Atmosphere and food at dinner was very nice! Spa treatments were very relaxing.

Lovely resort. Rooms are very basic. Shower pressure good. Bathrooms need some attention- there was mould in the toilet brush- should probably be changed more often. Not the end of the world.

Not the fault or control of the resort- but unfortunately the neighbours were quite inconsiderate in the early hours of the morning (4am) awoken by Loud chatter and then followed by housekeeping around 8: 30ish and their conversation, by then I couldn’t get back to sleep. Unfortunately you can hear everything where we were staying. Perhaps need to ask for a quieter room- next time!

Great facilities. Pool- trampoline and great outdoor setup with bar.

The day spa is excellent. Highly recommend.

Overall it was a good experience- small inconveniences didn’t destroy my time there. Overall it was great, wonderful vibes and excellent customer service from start to finish and I would definitely be back and highly recommend to others:)

We had a weekend stay with our 1.5 year old in the one bedroom apartment and it was a great, relaxing stay. Upon arrival, the room was ready with the portacot that we requested. The room was spacious and clean and comfortable, modern, decorated with minimal but beautiful and functional items (which is wonderful for a stay with a toddler). The only downside for us was the fact that being a ground floor apartment, the stomping from the unit above was quite audible when there are guests staying upstairs, but not enough to ruin the experience.

The resort had plenty of amenities though we only got to use the pool while we were there, as we were mostly doing roadtrips during the day. The pool was a good size and the warm water was perfect in winter.

The location is so handy, being just off the Great Ocean Rd, across the road from a kid-firendly park and easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in both directions. It's a great location as it's practically midway between Lorne and Torquay.

Fantastic Service, very friendly and accommodating staff, made us fell very welcome. The Resort was clean, well maintained and has great facilities. A great location which is close to everything, I would love to stay again with my family. Thanks for having us.
