Great Eastern Hakka Restaurant

Always a treat to go to Eastern Hakka. The food is always on point and flavours are amazing. Enjoy their vegetarian dishes a lot as they have many options.

My friend and I went to Great Eastern Hakka in Mount waverley as we’d read a fabulous review in the good food guide. It didn’t disappoint! Beautiful prawns to start, a Yummo Hakka fish dish and steamed rice next, and divine Hakka noodles! The whole meal was lovely! We will be back to try some other dishes!

This place is actually unbelievable. Being Swedish and missing home so much, I can tell you I felt like home when I was greeted by the two beautiful owners and eating their Swedish pizzas & their amazing Tom yum soup is WOW!

You feel like home truly - we asked for top ups on our pizza salad which also tasted like back home, and they were more than happy to offer. If you’re up for great chats, amazing food and if you’re Swedish like myself, wanting to have a taste of back home - this is the place for you!

I drove a whole hour to get here and let me tell you - IT WAS WORTH IT & I WILL BE BACK AGAIN VERY SOON!

We went here for the first time. It was a an bad experience. This restaurant has rule of minimum spent of $20 per person on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
We have enquired and was told that if we are unable to spend right there we can do takeway for the rest of the amount. We felt forced and left the place.

A place where our craving for food is always met with a perfect blend of flavours! Our family favourite for years along.

If you want the best Indo-Chinese food then this is the place to be. I grew up in Kolkata where there is a vibrant Chinese community and also a China Town. That is where you get the best indo-Chinese restaurants in Kolkata. Great Eastern Hakka is very close to what you kolkata, especially their chilli chicken and chicken manchurian dishes.
Their Chicken Manchurian pizza is unique and also my favourite.

Used to go to this place for many years. Was surprised at how the service has deteriorated when we visited with a group of eight a few months ago. Staff had deadpan expressions whilst taking our orders even though we were trying hard to be friendly. They were reluctant to explain the types of dishes to some of the new guests and were quite dismissive. Food was pricey and the quality and standard has dropped markedly.
So disappointing not to receive a single positive comment from any of the six friends that we took out to dinner.
Won't be visiting again in a hurry.

Disappointed with yesterday experience right from placing order and then food itself - Burnt chilli chicken and onions, smelly chicken satay and tasteless noodles and rice.

If you are looking for Indian hakka place, this place is for you but they can surely improve their customer service!

Fantastic food with a fascinating mix of Chinese/Indian/Swedish influences. Quick and friendly service. Would highly recommend for anyone in the Mount Waverley area!

Bland food, lacking flavor! Had to ask for soy sauce to make it taste less bland.friendlier attitude from the lady at the counter would not hurt.

We have been here at least 20 times and never been disappointed we travel 2 hours to come and dine here had a wonderful dinner today, thanks for maintaining the quality and taste

I returned to this restaurant nearly after 4 years and the taste of the food was amazing even still. The Manchurian pizza is a must have if you enjoy spicy food. Was quite impressed with the level of hygiene maintained in the restaurant specially with following rules around masks in these COVID times. Will definitely be coming here more!

A great hidden pizza gem in Melbourne. Offers up Swedish pizza and delivers spot on. Flavour combinations may seem weird at first, but trust us Swedes we have been eating this a long time. Luleå is always a safe/great choice for everyone. Made me feel like I was back home in Sweden.

An absolute gem. The couple that owns it was so hospitable and friendly, and the Swedish Pizza was absolutely spot on. If you haven’t tried Swedish pizza, you’re in for a treat. And if you have, you’re more than likely Swedish and my friend’s comment will sum it up perfectly ”It tastes like home”. Spend a day at Chadstone and drive over, it’s more than worth it, and we’ll be coming back soon!

Excellent service, staff were pleasant and helpful, but that where it ends. The food was tasteless, overpriced & extremely basic. One of the most disappointing meals we've experienced.

I haven’t been home to Sweden for almost two years but now I believe I can get over not going home for another two. My pizza cravings have been satisfied. Lovely, welcoming vibe, great service and amazing pizzas. I had high expectations and they we’re all exceeded. Do yourself a favour and go get some Swedish pizza. Strongly recommend the bananarama with pineapple, banana, ham and curry. Trust me on this one!
