Great Eastern Hakka Restaurant reviews
74 The food was top notch. We ordered Indian Chinese and it was excellent.
The staff got my order wrong for drinks, but did not matter much.
Was impressed with our experience at great eastern Hakka. The food was tasty and fresh. I was also impressed with the sheer size of the menu.pizza, Asian, potato chips.almost anything you could want
Awesome food specifically the Swedish pizza, drool worthy food but the owner has to be a bit polite which he is not even though knowing that I am a regular at his place
Visiting for the 2nd time and the food always amazed us. The rate is very much pocket friendly. Taste is good and for the people who loves spicy food, this is the right place. The fried was too good and simple, even for kids.
Some of the best indo Chinese food in Australia.these guys have maintained their standards, offer excellent service and great value.
Hidden suburban gem! Steve, owner and chef, brilliant pizza, very tasty Chinese dishes and quite a reasonable wine list. Highly recommend it for a meal that is varied, great taste and really well priced. Staff are friendly and efficient.
We love this place! Have been their customer for over 7 years and they never disappoint. Our standard order is chicken hakka noodles, chicken fried rice and Manchurian gravy. Their chicken kyckling pizza is a must try
Went here with friends and from the front it does look like Chinese restaurant (Hakka) but once I explore the menu there seems to be more than Chinese food which is very interesting. The chef himself has a diverse background hence explains the mixed variety of the food offered.
Plenty of parking behind the restaurant so no need to fight for spot in front of the restaurant.
Food wise I found it more on the salty side and it just ok. We ordered the Chinese dishes like chow mein, slice duck, fried rice etc. Reading from the review however seems I should have tried the pizza instead.
Service wise, well this could be a mixed bag. The waitress that took our order seems to be on the nice side but then comes another mid aged lady which seems to have a bad day or tired or both.
Would I go again? At the moment I'm more on the no side as I don't think the flavour is for me and I'm not keen on the mixed bag service here. Definately a place I won't bring parents to (at least for now).
A low key place serving delicious comfort food. I would characterise it more as indo-chinese food than authentic Chinese. The vegetarian Manchurian pizza is Delicious and a must try. There is a $20pp minimum spend on the weekend which can be annoying since most food is sharable. But the pizza makes everything worth it. The rest of the dishes are nothing great- so go mainly for the pizza
We shared four pizzas.
Calzone, Capriciosa, Luleå (kebab) and Gorgonzola.
Great pizzas, (maybe even a notch better than the Swedish pizzas I remember from back in the day.)
The pizzas came with the traditional pizza sallad too.
Thanks to Steve and his family for including the pizzas on the menue.
Excellent service and great atmosphere.
Will be back.
Best regards Patrick, Mari and Janeen
We moved away from the area 10 years ago. This has been the first time back. Still love it here. The Gorgonzola Pizza is up there as one of my favourite. The buffalo wings taste as I remembered them. Certainly was worth the drive back.
Friendly staff, great service & unique flavours. Lots of vegetarian options!
Manchurian Pizza is a must try if you’re wanting to try something new.
Not quite impressed as they said they don’t have carry bags. Quite bizarre and it shows their attitude. If you wanted to provide good service pay attention to minor details.
This is, without question, my favourite restaurant in Melbourne. When I lived in the city, I'd come here regularly. Now, living elsewhere, I make sure to come here every time I visit.
The Tom Yum soup is to die for, an my favourite dish here. The vegetable manchurian is another favourite, and the original hakka chow mein is fantastic.
The service here is always great, even when the restaurant is crowded. And the ambience is always pleasant. I highly recommend the restaurant to any and all.
Quite an eclectic menu with pizzas, Swedish, Chinese and Indian options. And it makes sense when you read the upbringing of the head chef. Good tasting food and quick service.
Simply wonderful. Loved all the dishes. Food was served quick too. My favourite was garlic fish
The best place to get takeaway or dine in!
Great, fresh food! Friendly service and THE best chicken fried rice in town!
Plenty of great dishes on the menu, the Manchurian chichen is to die for!
Walked past and had a quick look at the menu. Saw some very interesting items and decided to give it a try. Definitely was not disappointed. Will be back again!
Have been visiting this place since a year and absolutely love the food. I always try something new and not once I’ve been disappointed with the food. The service is impeccable and the staff is very friendly.
Highly recommended.
Amazing food, mostly the piazza and noodles. The food had lot's of flavour in it, mostly what we liked was the egg inside the noodles and riac. It was the best food ever and it was our first time ever and they gave us amazing food and service. Good job and keep it up
