Grand Hotel Mornington reviews
64For a country pub is fantastic. Menu was great, service was excellent. Well go again if I'm ever out that way
Went for lunch, my husband and I had fish and chips, was the worst fish and chips we’d ever had, the fish had a funny taste to it and the grilled fish was cooked like it was poached, and was crumbly, the battered fish was all batter. We don’t usually write reviews but we won’t go back there, have been there a long time ago and the meals used to be quite nice.
Started nicely, a mid year work gathering, boss put on drinks and dinner, lovely meal, bar staff and managers were first class, security staff are pathetic, I was ejected for laughing.a joke was told, I reacted with 3 years worth of laughing.yeh, nah.nice grub though.
Pricing and variety was good, so was the atmosphere. My partners roast was good but my quesadilla chicken was very salty.
Sorry one of the worst hotel meals we, my family have had! My wife had the salmon and veg! Dry over cooked fish with raw veggies, I had a 400g ribeye with veggies again raw veggies, I’ve had thicker pancakes than the steak witch was so dry and overcooked, my kids hardly touched their pasta and chicken dishes. Sorry grand hotel we have come down to the peninsula from the country for a a few days to chill and were very disappointed ps the waitress’s were friendly and nice!
Place has gone down hill. Been twice this year won't be going back. Service was good, food left a lot to be desired.
It was ok, wouldn't say great, or no wow factor.
Sunday lunch around 1230, was fairly packed but we got seated (appreciated).
Was fairly close to other diners and I felt there covid density quotas were prob exceeded on the dining floor, but push on.
Food:
Satay chicken entree- good size, average taste.
Chicken schnitzel- again ok, veg a bit dry and no offering of any sauces.
Side of mashed potato was good.
Special board is up on the south wall, no mention of that to I noticed it after we ordered.
20 min wait time to receive food.
Overall, average.good serving size, but food quality a little average, again with no wow factor.
After 1pm the line to order was constantly long.
If you go there, check the hallway to the back door and toilets for some great historic pics of the area.
Great tasty and traditional meals, food absolutely delicious and very friendly and helpful team, may need to book for dinner, but staff are very accomodating
I have been coming to the Grand for many years and always enjoyed my visit, tonight my family and I went to the Grand for dinner and the meals came in good time but the unfriendly staff who made you feel like it was a bother to assist you put a damper on the evening. Not sure if I will be back anytime soon.
Great service, friendly staff in sportsbar who went out of their way to make our evening special.sportsbar also had footy on so great atmosphere.meals at our table of 8, were all amazing.especially my garlic prawns! Absolutely beautiful.will definitely be back
I think the hotel changed hands over Christmas. The food use to be great, now it's terrible. We won't be going back.
Been coming here for years, have the new owners shrunk the portions of the food? Sure seems that way.
Excellent pub food, lovely atmosphere & great staff. The Grand is now my go to place to meet friends over a bite to eat.
After a long drive, I was kinda hungry. Unfortunately I was hungry longer than expected as the food never arrived. One star as the beer I got at the bar was cold.
The Grand has for years been our go-to place for a reasonably-priced meal, glass of wine and a flutter in the gaming room afterwards. The dining room always felt a little more up-market than the average pub due to the friendly table service, complementary dinner rolls and good wine list. Unfortunately this has all changed - and not for the better - with the new management. We were disappointed last night that the table service and rolls had disappeared, but our steaks were still fine. However it was a shock to be told at the bar that there was now no wine list, only what was listed on the back of the menu. That was a selection of wines from one Peninsula winery. No Cab Sav however. There were a couple of cab blends in the very limited house wine offering, and I was invited to taste them. Back at the table I immediately regretted not doing so as they were both barely drinkable. So later in the gaming room we went for the local winery. Unfortunately the Shiraz tasted oxidised as though the bottle had been open for a week. So overall a real downer.like losing a close friend.
Disappointed! The old friendly atmosphere, gone. The waitress taking your order at the table, gone. The bread rolls, gone. When the queue built up at the main bar we were told to go into the sports bar to get our drinks, really! They couldn’t move someone from the sorts bar to serve us, instead tried to herd us into the sports bar. We felt like a number standing at the counter to order food, where the sign said that we were there on a public holiday so everything carried a 10% surcharge. It was Saturday! Only good Friday and Easter Monday are gazetted public holidays. Been going there for 7 years, We normally go in a group of 4 or 6. We won’t be back.
Did not tell us where to order. Sometimes it's table service sometimes it's not? Sat for 15 minutes before we realised what to do. Took away the lovely menu they had when they first started outdoor dining. Such a shame.
What an amazing place! Food was on point and the service was quick and friendly. It's worth checking out.
If your after a bad night out, this is the venue for you. Security was embarrassingly hostile and made the environment very uncomfortable.
Little slack use to be better but hey nice food just slack services atm maybe covid is to blaim
