Grand Hotel Mornington reviews
64 Had a great time. Got a $96 parking ticket for overstaying the 2 hr parking limit.
Won't be back.
Great pub.
Staff are pleasant and helpful. Food was good (perfectly cooked lemon pepper calamari). Warm, lots of tables and space, Clean bathroom, sports bar and gaming room. I will return.
Nice pub grub type food, on a rainy day in a warm space. Male server seemed to have a lot of trouble taking my order, even though he seemed senior/possibly even manager. Pleasant female took over and made it a lot less arduous, so thank you! Halloumi burger was a bit cold but nonetheless tasty. Family enjoyed cheese burger, steak (tender) sandwich, soup of the day, all delicious. Reasonably priced too.
Dinner with a group last night (22/6). Managed to snag the last of the pork ribs for my wife, $37 or thereabouts. We've come to expect mostly fabulous ribs elsewhere but these were VERY disappointing and way overpriced considering the absolute sparsity of meat, not to mention lack of tenderness which is normally a reasonable expectation. My bangers & mash on the other hand was quite acceptable.
My recommendation is definitely give the ribs a wide berth.
Went in for a drink, such a shame, such a lovely historical old building and inside its dire! No atmosphere, hardly anyone in there and you can see why.: (. Just pokies and sports bar seem to do well
it has so much potential
The food was ok. Everything was overpriced. Non-existent customer service. The place looked dirty. The steak was 1cm thick, beaten to death at $42, never again. Mornington has so many nice restaurants go somewhere else.
Food was alright, service bit slow, we waited 55mins for our order
Went there again for lunch, taste was alot better!
Only one star since the kids meals were presentable. Unfortunately customer's skills were not up to standards. Moreover, I have ordered a dish and they replaced one of the ingredient without consulting me, I had to returned the dish because I have food intolerance to some of the ingredients. Then they replaced it for an overcooked version with another ingredient that I did not asked for it. Staff member did not apologise, neither listened for feedback. We asked for our money back that likely they returned. With this awful experience I will never go back neither recommend this place. They should really trained cooks and staff regarding food safety. I cannot imagine someone ordering a dish that might contain a food allergen and get very sick. I didn't feel that they care that I can get very sick if I eat that extra ingredient. Please check your food if you eat there and do not order the risotto it is not well done and who knows what's in there.
The vegetables were not cooked and were cold
It was a senior's meal and it was awful. Very disappointed
Lovely old hotel. Food very good. Plenty of choice. Service very good. Historic photos of interest on the walls. Clean and great atmosphere. Packed out for dinner. Family friendly.
Grumpy old dude behind the bar needs to work on his people skills before getting in to bar tending:) maybe a career in prison guarding is more suited to you? Either way, average drink but not very nice service.
Beautiful food and service. Lovely atmosphere. Staff very helpful and warm. Thank you soo much. Will be back
Food great, even brought colouring sheets over for the kids
Also loved that we walked in at 1730 with no booking and were accommodated
Amazing old style pub. Staff were so friendly and just real good old fashioned atmosphere. Plenty of craft beers too!
Used to be good quality and large quantity. But now waited for three times to get back to the line to order food due to sold out. And had to wait for another 45min to get food.
After being in the USA for the last 3 years we were so excited to come back to The Grand. We had 6 people at our table and spent good money for average food except for the Southern Fried Chicken.
The Southern Fried Chicken was terrible, they ran out of the relish and told us as they were delivering it to our table. Plastic cheese on untoasted Turkish bun with burnt schnitzel and dry coleslaw! Do not recommend.
What happened to The Grand?
Slow to bring out meals. After an hour, turns out they had lost our order. Lunch turned into dinner
Great lunch and tasty food. Shnitzel and Parma were very nice. Veggies were good and so was the service.
I have been going to the grand for over 50 years. Had a nice meal in the sports bar. Food was very good. Reasonable price too. I had the Bream which was fresh. Very tasty. Would recommend the grand for a meal with friends anytime.
A lovely old pub we have been to many, many times during the years since the 60's. Went for lunch today with my Mum, lovely meals and staff were friendly. The only downside trying to get in and out by the heavy front entrance with a wheelchair is a struggle and especially when female staff member ignore or not notice anyone having difficulty opening the doors. I think it time for an automatic door, don't you.
