Been there a few times. Noticed decrease in portion and food not as described on menu. We ordered a mushroom dish, but got plenty of carrot, diced cucumber, peas, nuts and very little mushroom (as little as 4 tiny pieces). I stopped going.

BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT!

Exceptional food and service! We ordered wonton noodle soup, fried rice, a stir fry noodle dish and a sauté “chicken” dish, everything was 11/10! Highly recommend this adorable restaurant!

Just happened to meet a racist waitress. I’ve been to this place many times since 2016. The food and service was always on great standards, until today. I wanted to introduce this vegetarian restaurant to my friend, we went in, an Asian girl greets us, and I politely asked (in Chinese) if we could sit next to the windows. She said we cannot because apparently that seat is booked. We sat down somewhere else and ordered. Afterwards I saw another waitress (also Asian) moving two white guys (who were already sitted somewhere else) to that empty table next to the window. Weird. Since the first waitress told me that table is reserved. So I talked to my friend in Chinese asking why did she moved those guys there? We soon chatted other subjects. After 30 seconds of our conversation. The Asian girl suddenly stood in front of us and told us in ENGLISH that because the guys ordered too much food so they can use the table next to the window. Her voice was bit loud (probably wanted other customer to hear it?) and rude. What the heck? If you can understand Chinese and what I was saying, why don’t you just tell me in Chinese? And why the hell would you eavesdrop on other people’s conversation? The way she handled the situation was super unprofessional and stupid. I later confronted her asking why she would eavesdrop our conversation IN CHINESE and talk to us in english (i know that she is able to speak Chinese fluently) it felt very offensive. She only responded that she didn’t listen to our conversation and she thought we didn’t speak Chinese. Then why the hell would you jump to our table and suddenly speak about that window seat? We ordered three dishes and two drinks. The table was also bit small for us but you didn’t say anything about moving tables for us. Honestly I think she only helped those guys to the “reserved” table because they were white. I feel offended and saddened cause I really did like this restaurant. I’m never coming back again.

Excellent food, all vegetarian. It is wheelchair accessible via lift, but the bathroom is not as it is too small to fit a wheelchair in.

I adore this place. A special, hidden away type of vegan resturant, Gong De Lin presents vegetarian, vegans and meat eaters a like a plethora of variety and access to common and delicious Chinese Cuisine. The small restaurant lacks space, but makes up for it in atmosphere and detail. The interior decoration is simple and charming, bringing a small town local vibe. It suits solo eating, 2 people eating and group eating enthusiasts alike.

A big unfortunate part of this store is how busy it can get, so highly recommend reserving in advance beforehand. Waiting time for meals can also be on the long side, and the prices of the meals are relatively high, especially if you want to try more than one thing. Whilst that should take points away, I myself love this place and really appreciate a store where the menu is big and I actually have a desire to try more than just my favourites.

Recommend:
- Reserving in advance during peak hours
- Lychee Iced Tea
- Mapo Tofu Main/Lemon Chicken

Some of the best Asian vegan food I've ever had! Wish I was staying in Melbourne for longer so I could come back

One of our favourites. A little tricky to find, not a great venue, but the food is always spot on. Totally vegan. Omnis love it too

The food was okay, not overly impressed, my boyfriends food was bland so he tried to return it but struggled in changing his dish. Won't be returning here as there are a lot better vegan options in the area

I came here with a couple friends when it wasn't busy (Public Holiday), fantastic food (Noodles, Share plates, Dumplings) and with a great price too, I had trouble finishing a full plate of fried spiced noodles! Everything is Vegetarian, despite some of the meals tasting very similar to meat! There are a number of tables that overlook Swanston st and plenty further inside. The only way to enter from what I could see is from an elevator tucked away next to the entrance of another restaurant, which could be a little tricky to find. But aside that, I'll definitely be coming again!

Got veg fried rice and dumpling soup.
Very disappointed, I came in starving and hardly ate anything! The only thing that tasted nice was the dumplings. The soup broth tasted like water, had no flavour and the rice was very bland. I ate a few mouthfuls as I was so hungry but I wasted 30 dollars. Wouldn't go back there again. I asked for the bill and the waitress could clearly see most of my food on the plates and didn't care to ask why. I also got a headache within 10mins of eating what I had so I would bet they do use MSG even though they claim they don't.

Digging the good green vibes of this establishment
To be perfectly honest the food was ok
Like it's one of those places that could be quite variable in quality and would be on average quite average. Had a decent time nevertheless:)

One I'd the good vegetarian restaurants in Melbourne. It's my first visit and liked it very much. Their mock meats are quite good too try. Especially Lemon Chicken and Sezwan Beef. Spring rolls where oily so was quite disappointed with that but over all the food and dining experience was good. Tried their fried ice cream as well which was good but could have been better if with Hazelnuts or maple syrup than chocolate. Def. A place for vegetarians on Melbourne to go for.

Tasty friendly and clean. Head up to L3 (by lift) and you enter a clean and tastefully appointed vegetarian chinese style restaurant.

Food is tasty and well priced.

The manager (ess) is a truly lovely friendly person.

Very poor service. I waited for my food for an hour and still didn't get it even after checking so many times. I know the food is good here but service is so lousy

The food is great. The service not so much. It took our waitress about 10 minutes to bring us a menu, and then about 20 to take our order. They didn't appear particularly busy either.

Lovely restaurant. It feels like a secret mission to get to it on the 3rd floor, and it needs a bit of a re-fresh, but the food is good. It's also not cheap. There is a $20 cash only threshold, and they will ask if you can't pay cash anyway.

The menu is huge, so it's best to ask what the favourites are. Mine is the sweet and sour 'pork' and pan friend dumplings.
