Golden Dragon Museum reviews
57Excellent place to visit. Lovely addition to bendigo. Lit an incense and said a prayer for safe travels
I’m pretty sure one of the senior staff was about to head home. She decided to stay and give myself and a few others a personal tour of the museum. Unreal history everywhere in this place, and 3 amazing ceremonial dragons, one of which is over 100 years old. $12 entry. Worth every penny twice over. Highlight: the jade chariot.
A wealth of Chinese history, culture and stories. Have always loved seeing the dragons and enjoyed meeting the new Dragon and showing them all to our kids.
Went for a tour to this amazing place. There is a nice collection of old heritage items, especially the Sun Loong dragon which is about 100 metres long, head is more than 2 metres high and the head itself weighs around 30 kgs.
Lot of other nice collection to view as well.
Admission price reasonable. This Mueseum offers; beautiful historical items on display, a relaxing chinese garden and a temple to visit. Very insightful. A lot of information to take in. If your a history buff and enjoy learning about Australian history and how the Chinese culture played it's part in Australian history then you will thoroughly enjoy this museum.
A historical gem, well worth a visit to see bendigo s rich history. Note the dragon come s out on Easter Sunday if you want to see it for free in the parade.
I didn't go inside a museum. Just visiting the shop. Shop assistants are very nice people. A nice place to stop by if you visit the botanic garden
Pretty much the only place open on new year. The staff was friendly and was able to explain the history relatively good. The garden was nice and relaxing during hot days. Not the best museum but wasn’t bad. Overall I thought it was worth the time and value.
Kind staff who were happy to hold conversation and they told us useful and interesting information. The displays were beautiful, well planed, and very informative, with stuff preserved from ages long past. It was a very interesting place, full of amazing facts.
The garden and temple were also amazing. The garden had a beautiful fountain, and a like full of fish. The temple was to the Chinese goddess of mercy, and they provided incense for you to burn so you could pray.
Definitely worth it
Much better than I would expect. A Chinese garden and a museum with a 125m long dragon finished in Feb 2019, so still pretty young)
What an enchanting and interesting museum. I learned so much about the Chinese community who arrived first during the gold rush in the 1850s. What conditions there must have been at the time in the mine fields. How difficult they must also have found at times since. Such wonderful dragons on display. Adjacent to the museum is an attractive Chinese garden. Being taken round by my local Chinese relative Loretta added to the excellent experience
Great bunch of eager volunteers and the grounds of the museum are a quiet break from the bustle of the CBD! 6ft plus people like myself need to duck going through the gardens but the view from the back of the garden looking over everything is a sight to behold!
Icon of Bendigo and an extensive collection of Chinese cultural pieces. See the Imperial Dragons and relax in the tranquil garden.
A lovely place to visit and learn about the Chinese involvement in Bendigo. There is a relaxing garden and structures and paints to see.
We had excellent service to the extent that they left is an umbrella to get the car, the exhibition was interesting and inexpensive
Bendigo's Chinese heritage is fascinating and well worth looking into. Although I went primarily to see the dragons, I stayed for the history and culture that has had such a tremendous impact on the city and its people. Definitely worth seeing if visiting Bendigo.

We visit the Dragon Museum every few years as the kids grow older. My grandson loves coming here much more often tho to feed the huge golden orange fish in the ponds in the Chinese Gardens. For 50 cents you can purchase fish food so all the kids can be awed & intrigued at the size of these beautiful fish. He at 3 loves being the leader to show Grandma or his Aunty & mum & dad how to get to the bridge to have best view of watching him feed another of.
Mother Natures little treasured. Lots of fun for less than you spend on a cuppa anywhere else. Kids smiles well worth the regular visit. A must do for All ages.
