Golden Dragon Museum reviews
57The Golden Dragon Museum has great exhibits about the Chinese culture and their history of migration to the gold mines in Victoria around Bendigo. You can see the biggest dragon, jade chariot and learn other things about Chinese culture and heritage as well. Check out the Yi gardens (garden of joy) next to the museum as well. Worth a visit if you are in Bendigo.
Inspiring look into the hardships faced by the Chinese and the contributions made during and since their arrival. Beautiful museum where you can lose yourself for hours.
Eclectic collection of artifacts: interesting from a cultural perspective but hardly any narrative about the history of the Chinese in the local community - good or bad.
It was good experience as a family to know about Chinese heritage and culture. Loved the displays- kids were fascinated. Chinese garden is a must go - lovely vibe altogether.
Interesting, a lot of artefacts, they need a lot more space, couldn't see some of the exhibits as they were behind others, worthy of a visit takes about 1-1 1/2 hours there is also a Chinese garden to see
Good museum explaining chinese settlement in Bendigo. Nice lotus and garden. Just a small stroll around and close to city center as well.
Beautiful gardens and museum with such rich and important history. Incredible lions, dragons and artefacts a MUST if you are visiting Bendigo or the area.
This museum has wonderfully preserved the history of Chinese migration in Victoria. It showcases the struggles and perseverance of the Chinese community in Bendigo. Loved the collection of artefacts and used for parade. I think they have the world's longest ceremonial dragon. It has to be seen.
It was a bit dark inside the building (might have been deliberate for sake of preservation). Adding a few more lights might enhance the appeal of the beautiful collection.
We had a lovely tour guide called Julie who was fantastic. This museum is great - and very reasonably priced. The dragons are incredible but there is also a lot more to read about inside. A great place to spend 1 - 2 hours. Gardens are also beautiful. A must see in Bendigo!
A very colourful, interesting museum showing the Chinese history of Bendigo. Dragons, lions. Lovely gift, souvenir shop with friendly staff.
This was very interesting and the garden to the side of it was beautiful. The park out front the kids loved especially with an ice cream from the Museum shop.
Unbelievable place wow so much history and exhibits. Really worth a look and the other attractions attached are just as good.
Not a large collection.
The jade chariot is impressive. As a Chinese who’s born in Taiwan, I’ve never seen such a magnificent piece.
There are some introduction to Chinese culture and history.
Entry is $12. I thought it’s reasonable so we can help the museum to maintain and keep operating.
When in Bendigo, call in you won't be disappointed. The craftsmanship and intrinsic designs and patience to make the clothing, cabinetry, very colourful dragons.
2 small but nice gardens. Cafe and museum were shut by 1pm on a Friday which was disappointing as there is only a small amount of items next to the gift shop.
This place is so fascinating! Great for all ages too. We walked around the beautiful gardens, then went into the museum where a wonderful gentleman walked around with us (my 7 yo daughter and husband) and gave a tour! He was so knowledgeable in all the artifacts. Highly recommended stopping by if visiting Bendigo
Lots of artefacts, and provides a wealth of historical information about the Chinese in the local area.
The dim lighting though, apparently to preserve the artefacts, may make viewing difficult for some.
They got flooded so part of it was closed. I guess you cant fight nature. $7 tickets half price, cant complain:)
Fascinating history of the Chinese community in Bendigo. Tall, obnoxious lady talking to visitors inside the museum where displays are located spoilt the visit. Very full on & appearance looked unprofessional.
