Geonbae Korean BBQ Restaurant reviews
64 Manager was so unprofessional. He took our reservation but didn't know how to hold a reservation (Seinfield alert). As we confronted him, he didn't even try to apologise, but insisted on convincing us that the inside table's better. So we said it didn't matter what you think, but what we want. We ended up leaving without ordering anything.
However, we did look at the menu and it was so "western-ised" and not so Korean.
I recently tried Korean cuisine for the first time here, especially on our wedding anniversary. The food was incredibly delicious with generous portions; we even had to pack some fried chicken to go. The prices for drinks were reasonable, and I believe this might be the best service I've experienced at a restaurant. All staff members wore warm smiles, and a lovely lady consistently checked in on us, offering assistance with a cheerful demeanor. She was particularly helpful with our orders.we'll definitely be returning. Highly recommended! And I wish can give them 6 stars!
The food and the Soju cocktails were good. Nice venue on the river near the beach. But pricey! We spent about $200 for 3 people sharing a 2 person set menu but added in another main dish.
We’ve been frequently coming here for years and celebrated anniversary’s, birthdays and work dinners here and always left happy…. Came here again with the family for an engagement dinner about 2 nights ago…and we weren’t too impressed…We choose 6 of the $59 set menu and really it was just meh! 2 meats w cos lettuce, fried chicken one fried dumpling, small plain rice and some pancake…We also only got one onion to share between the 6 of us.apart from that the staff are always lovely
I brought my Wife yesterday for her Birthday Lunch and we were delighted by the Above and Beyond Service of the Lady who was on her own looking after the Customers. Great Service and the food was like a walk in Heaven. Took the BBQ Menu 1 on her recommendation and loved it. Can't wait to go again
Average, was here a couple of months ago, booked online. Table wasn’t ready, seemed overwhelmed by a 60th bday party. Couldn’t supply all food, but surely charged us for the whole amount. Only reason why I’m not giving a one star as I was here previously and experience was really good, but this time it was really bad.
Food is decent. Service is lacklustre. Don’t expect to get your food at the same time if you go in with a large group.
Absolutely no atmosphere. Disengaged staff. Food was average. The tap beer was good but not much else. Do not recommend.
I had lunch at this restaurant, the food is very good to try and I really enjoyed the tofu salad. I would definitely come back to eat.
First trip to this little gem in Frankston. Excellent service and awesome food. Staff really looked after us and made sure the food was expertly cooked at our table.
Great selection of drinks and amazing meats.
Definitely going to visit again.
Loved this place. Has been awhile since we've had Korean BBQ. Different but the same in so many aspects. Great food, brilliant drink, great non-korean music (aussie top 10). Lovely manager, had a great chat about life. Will go again before our 6mths are up.
We have been there a few times now, and always amazing. Just let them select a range of food as they know what's best! Their shared meals, with amazing starters and a fantastic selection of meats barbequed at your table are to die for. Be careful with the drinks there are some particularly powerful cocktails (especially Soju) which is very deceptive with the fruits, but packs a wallop! Great entertainment for any size group of friends!
Food was very disappointing. No flavour whatsoever. Overpriced and unauthentic korean. Extremely small portions for the price. Overall rubbish experience.
My wife and I had a very unenjoyable and concerning experience tonight. I was tremendously disappointed with the lack of management of this restaurant and felt bad for the staff who were doing the best they could. I wish it had an option for zero stars so unfortunately I have to give one, spend your cash elsewhere.
Ps. Who serves pasta salad as a side at a Korean restaurant!?
Great ambiance and fabulous location.
Food was great and so was the service. We paid $49 per person, not bad for what we had. We went for a walk down the beach after lunch. Will certainly visit again:)
A little over priced l think now enjoyable but don't go hungry because not sure the meal portions are filling enough when having a set menu
Very poor service, communication issues. We got our table at 8: 30 ordered some nibbles and we clearly told waiter that will order main soon. At 9: 00 we said let’s order main and was told kitchen is closed. No one told us about kitchen closing time etc.in fact on arrival we were told to order drinks and enjoy ourselves. We literally run to maccas next door after our dinner. Plus didn’t even get things the way we ordered. Only one dish came when we ordered two etc.food was delicious but service was so bad.
Food was exceptional.
We had a soju tasting paddle (highly recommended) and a ripper bottle of pinot noir.
If you are lucky enough to be served by kate you are in good hands.
Highly recommend
We were a group of 12 so we had to have one of the banquets, apart from myself who is Vegetarian. I wasn’t expecting many choices but was pleasantly surprised and ordered vegetable dumplings, a sizzling plate of sweet corn and cheese and a vegetable stir fry with noodles. I also shared a little of the vegetable pancake that was part of the banquet, all were very yummy. We also ordered as an extra two of the Korean Fried Chicken plates which came out pulled high with very delicious chicken (so they tell me) the fried chicken was definitely a favourite among the rest of the tables.
Service was great, very friendly and they were full so extremely busy. Think this will be a new regular haunt.
Great experience and impressed by the tastiness of the food.
I'd probably rate it a 4.5 but cant give 1/2 marks so uprating.
Booked for a Friday night for 3 ppl and rang them to book on Thu pm but managed to get a booth seating (the last at 8pm), which I'd read was easier hearing each other over the noise of the whole place. For me this can ruin the experience.
I'd recommend you book a few days prior for either the bigger group tables or booth's that fit 4 whatever best suits your numbers.
We all chose the $55 set menu which was a great choice, plenty of variety, all happy with the quality and portion size.
Some staff had a better approach than others in service skills and explaining the menu.
If you want a different dining experience, with variety of meals give it a go. Very tasty, I will return:)
