General Public reviews
6310 out of 10 experience we have been coming to general public for many years now, and we are always given the best service and experience there! We had at my husband‘s surprise birthday party there the other weekend there which he absolutely loves this venue and I was given nothing but the best support and help to make it an amazing night! Matthew was 10 out of 10 the best help gave amazing service was fantastic at the communication back-and-forth with me, making sure that I had everything I need and more MATTHEW WENT ABOVE AN BEYOND! He knew what I wanted for the night needed it was amazing! All the staff were amazing so friendly and helpful. Matthew thank you once again for all that you did a more, we will definitely be back for more celebrations and we know our family will too. They all absolutely loved the food. Everyone raved about it and they even said they all wanted to have their parties and celebrations there! The kids had a fantastic time in the arcade area in the bowling. Of course we were the last one there at midnight with my husband not wanting to leave and just keep bowling haha we will be coming back over and over again! Thank you
Went out with my son and his friend.
We did bowling and many more games and also the food was so good.
This place is great to hand out with friends and even with the family
Nice food
The bowling is nice
Super fun venue with lots to offer. Adam was exceptionally helpful and provided great directions and good energy.
This place is good! Fun for all ages I think. Just come prepared for food, bowling, and games. At least 100 bucks. All worth it. Food is great, especially the nachos which I don’t see on the menu. Hope they didn’t get rid of them because those were better than any Mexican place around Melbourne.
Great atmosphere and such friendly staff, Maddi went above and beyond with her customer service and really made sure we were well taken care of, was super helpful and friendly and was an overall superstar!
Great place for families, kids parties or just a catch up with friends. The service is always great, the venue is clean and the kids love it!
My daughter celebrated a young adult birthday at General Public with 20 friends and family. It’s a great venue with great pizza! Staff were so attentive and friendly and went out of their way to make guests feel welcome and happy. Chloe looked after our party amazingly and Matt (manager) made sure also the night was enjoyable. They also played arcade games and bowling. Thank you General Public, would thoroughly recommend
We celebrated my son’s birthday with some of his friends yesterday and we all had the BEST time. Although it wasn’t an official bday party, Matthew, the incredible venue manager, went above and beyond and we truly felt that nothing was too much trouble. We have always loved visiting General Public but after yesterday, it’s really gone to another level. The kids loved bowling and playing in the games arcade, Matthew was even happy to hang a pinyata inside (he climbed a ladder to hang it from the roof for us) and the kids and parents loved the pizzas.
Organised my birthday party here, and this place was exceptional. Super friendly staff especially adam! Thankyou guys.
Dining and bowling here were enjoyable experiences for my kids and me. In particular, Chloe was so kind to us and set up our bowling games, even getting us water on such a hot day without asking. It was a great time and I would definitely recommend it!
Perfect for kids bowling party, end of year or work function. Casual and relaxed. Basic options for snack food that tastes great alcohol for the adults. Huge tables to seat 12+ groups. Bench seats. Additional dining area too.
Mathew the centre manager
Was outstanding venue clean and organised we were there to celebrate my adult daughters birthday and had a thoroughly enjoyable night
Great place to go with family or big outings. Food, beer on tap, bowling, generous arcade selection.
Service for food and drinks is 4/5
Arcade service 2/5
Problem is, many if not most arcade section games are broken or in state of disrepair. It's hard taking kids over to play, they jump on a bike or a tiny carousel pony and it just doesn't work. Moving to next game doesn't work, kids get upset and cry and there goes the atmosphere hah. Still nice to have a place like this around the corner.
Food is amazing, good parma and with larger groups the bigger food boards worked a treat and they're generous servings. Overall a great experience.
I had my sons 8th birthday and general public were amazing. Everything was so easy and the kids had a great time.
The food was ok, wait time was accurately estimated, and they offered a gluten free option. Service could do with a little attention as I had to return to the counter because of missing items in the kids meal. Can get loud, but overall an enjoyable night out for a family. However when it came to the arcade machines, the majority were out of order or in disrepair, including the pinball machines, which was a major let down and a waste of our gaming card. It is the reason they missed out on 4 stars for me.
Great spot for kids. We had a nice night out but the guys behind the bar should apply for a job at Karens, I got an eye roll from one and the other looked like he would rather be at home in front of his PS4! Not great for business boys!
Where to start?
I can definitely say Management been changed.
This place is joke, mess and list can go on.
I was very disappointed on Sunday. I am a regular customer to this place ever since this place opened. Last 3 years we had our staff Christmas party here.so, we wanted to do the same this year too. We spent $110/person for 100 staff. But, yesterday it's a mess. Very first time I felt like came to a place where staff don't really care about their customers. There are hardly any customers. Staff were relaxed sitting on their laptops like a office job. Weirdly enough there is a guy on blue shirt looks like a Manager who got all the staff around near bowling counter and talking and talking and talking for hours. I never seen this Guy before he don't have a clue what is going on. I'm giving one star because of Four staff members Lucy, Julia, Reid and the boy in Arcade. Half of the arcade machines were out of order. Finally, I went to see the manager about the availability for Christmas party but couldn't find him.on my way out the guy who doesn't bother about their customers is smoking outside. I'm not surprised seeing that
I'm glad that I didn't book the staff party yet. I'm sure i won't go back to this place again. I have saved my bosses $10,000. Any one wants to spend big money please go in as normal customer and see how everything works.
Not good for business Guys. Hope the management protect their business.
I won't be returning. Atleast 11 of the games were out of order, turned off, had parts broken or just not working properly. Absolute waste of our money. On school holidays you would think maybe a little more attention to the games to make sure they are working. I saw kids climbing on machines, piffing balls at machines all with no adult supervision.
The only thing I can recommend is the food. I can't complain about that.
This place is a mess. We arrived and the place was 40% busy so we could see a bunch of tables with no people but still with the leftover and garbage from previous customers. Then, we tried to play pool. TBH the tables are just a joke. Our table only had one cue so we had to give it to the other player after we played. Also, the tables look from AliExpress or something cheap cuz they were smaller, the balls were smaller too and the quality wasn't good.
About the arcade. This was so disappointing. It feels like a scam. There were plenty of machines malfunctioning but still taking the money from you. For example, after we pay for one of the machines that was supposed to give us some balls, the machine didn't do anything. Also, there are some machines without instructions and when we asked the only person in charge of the whole arcade place, she also didn't know how to play it. We lost around $16 with all the broken and malfunctioning machines. The kid selling the cards for the arcade didn't care to explain anything. So useless.
I am sure I won't ever go back to this place.
