Freddies Coffee

We booked our work Xmas function dinner here and found everything to be perfect. The staff were fabulous and very attentive. We had 17 people and were put on a table in a private part of the venue which was great. The food was very impressive and came out all together. The venue is very clean and well kept. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We all had a great time! Thank you!

Great service and wonderful food. I had eggs benedict with pork belly. My companions had build your own breakfasts with fried eggs and additional items. Every meal was delicious. I completely cleaned my plate. Eggs cooked perfectly with a beautiful hollandaise which was smooth, creamy and not vinegary like some.

The service was fantastic and the severs were very attentive. They took down details of my daughters allergies for the kitchen on their tablet.

The meal is fantastic healthy and delicious. The atmosphere is very calm, and the service is great. Strongly recommend.

Excellent food, coffee and friendly customer service.
After many visits these last two years, Freddie's remains one of our favorite spots in the stretch between Mordialloc to Rosebud.

As new-ish locals, we wanted to like this place and give it a chance, but after more than 1 disappointing visit we won't be back, and we aren't fussy foodies either.

First visit we'd already finished eating 2 full dinner menu items without our 2 basic wines even reaching our table (we ordered the wines first). We politely asked wait staff a few times for an update on where they were, no one really seemed to know or care. We had to ask not to be charged for them after giving up waiting.

Second visit for lunch, before even sitting down we witnessed one customer lifting open her child's cheese toastie and asking why there was no cheese in it (yep.), plus another customer across from us asking why his egg was blue (not kidding.). My partner ordered a full sized lunch menu item, I just ordered a cheese and tomato Crossaint. He was literally halfway through his lunch before my Crossaint even reached the table. There was also a staff member weirdly standing all of 2 metres away from another table of about 6 adults just watching them eat?

We are the least fussy people, we hardly ever eat out, and really wanted to like our new local. You really get the feeling that the business owners have just given up on caring about improvements or taking any customer feedback, instead focusing on how to cut costs, and how to make the most money they can with the least effort. Unfortunately after some really weird experiences, reading other reviews on here and seeing the way in which the Freddie's team respond with very generic and inauthentic responses ("Thanks for the lovely review, see you soon! "), we're gonna give up on this place.

Had the best lunch last weekend. The staff are so friendly and the food was amazing. Love the decor as well.

We went here today for an 11: 30am booking on Mother’s Day after looking at all the great reviews and seeing their wide ranged menu that would cater to my family members many dietary requirements.
We showed up to a very limited menu on our tables. The girl serving us talked us through the 4 items that we had the choice of on the brekky menu and said no changes allowed. With my family members having many different dietary requirements and being plain eaters, we found it extremely difficult to actually find something we wanted to eat. For starters, there was absolutely no mention of this limited menu on their social media or website so I had no idea it would be like this; when I booked I checked out the whole menu and it looked great and had options for everyone in my family to eat. But when we arrived they wouldn’t even do a simple bacon and eggs on toast, until we told them my Mum literally wouldn’t eat anything else on the menu so they said they’ll do that for her.

We noticed on the menu it said b/fast until 11: 30am yet the lady took our brekky order at 11: 45 after talking us through it then came back 10 minutes later saying sorry as it’s past 11: 30 we’re now only doing the lunch menu.
I openly expressed my frustration with this saying I don’t understand why she took our order in the first place to come back and say we now have to choose something completely different. On the lunch side of the menu there was only 4 items that were even worse than the brekky items that none of us really wanted to choose from but we had to as we were already seated with our drinks.
We waited about 40 minutes for our food and we were starving at this point after being messed around with the ordering, and when we finally saw our meals on the food pass, I saw the male worker taking videos and photos of all our food rather than hurrying up and bringing us our food that we had waited so long for.
The food wasn’t anything special at all either, my Reuben sandwich that I ordered absolutely was not worth $30 for a sandwich with about 8 chips on the side, my sisters Vegan burger was bland and tasteless, the only semi decent item was my mums bacon & eggs on toast which we all would have preferred over what we got.
When the other lady was clearing our plates, instead of coming around and grabbing them from us like any other hospo worker would do, she stood at the end of the table and CLAPPED AT US and said ‘plates! ’ and gestured for us to pass them to her! As a hospo worker myself, this absolutely shocked myself and my family, unbelievable.
The service was slow and the waitstaff seemed to have no personality at all, no smiles or happiness.
I went and paid for it all and was served by a man in a suit. I expressed my frustration with how the whole day went and I said that we were completely shocked and appalled with how it was handled - I said how there was no mention of brekky menu being only until 11: 30am and he said ‘it was on the menu’ to which I explained how my frustration was that this was not advertised anywhere on their website or social media that they had a breakfast cut off time OR how they had a shockingly limited menu. If i knew this was the case, I would not have booked here and would have gone somewhere nicer with a wider menu range available on a day like today.
He barely gave me any response back and I said that we will not be returning.

I planned a nice surprise brunch for our family for Mother’s Day for us to all leave disappointed after wasting $200 here, It made me feel extremely bad for my mum that this is how her day was spent.
Do better.

There’s so many better places around with better service and staff, I recommend avoiding this place.

Food is okay here. The breakfast menu leaves a lot to be desired if you don't want sickly sweet or eggs, but build your own kind of makes up for it.
There should be sugar and sweetener options on the table for those having coffee rather than having to ask for it.
All in all it is good enough.

Freddies Mushroom Gnocchi are a hit and I will come again for that.
The place is beautifully decorated, has a nice atmosphere, good service and prices are not prohibitive. 5 out of 5

Freddie's is without doubt the nicest Cafe I have ever had a takeaway coffee from. Actually it's not a Cafe it's a home. The staff are really friendly, the menu is extensive and the coffee is superb but what made my heart sing was the decor. Old timey lighting, furniture, ornaments, mirrors, phones, suitcases, pictures, all displayed perfectly! Such a warm inviting place, There is lots of seating inside and outside, either on the street or out the back in a beautiful courtyard. I LOVED it! I will definitely come back.

Never a bad thing here. Great service, great food and coffee. Definately worth a stop on the way through.

Humming little cafe a short walk from Carrum station. We sat outside (because it was so busy).
Great food, exemplary service and licensed. We had fish tacos - succulent fillets on a delicious bed of salad & coleslaw. Asahi beer & coffee to wash it down.

Fantastic experience at Freddie's Kitchen! The decorative aesthetic is beautiful and the booths are nice & comfy. We came in for breakfast, were so pleased that we came back again. The waiter was incredible! Which is what prompted this review. He greeted us, "welcome back" and even remembered our orders, all while smiling. Made us feel so welcome and comfortable in the midst of a move out, probably for the best because we'd be here every day if we weren't flying out tomorrow! Great vanilla chai lattes, awesome atmosphere & exceptional hospitality!

Great spot, away from the main hwy with dog friendly outdoor seating. Friendly staff, nice food and coffee. Gluten free options available.

After an early start at basketball tournament at 1030 Sunday we were ready for lunch but only breakfast menu could be ordered. Then it was too complicated for their fancy ipad system to let our family and another basketball family to share table but not bill. Food was good and generous servings.

Freddie's Kitchen is 110% wonderful. Our family has been going there for years, and my daughter and her husband had their wedding reception there. From Freddie, the staff, the food and the decor to the amazing chefs and ambience: nothing could be improved on! If you haven't popped in for breakfast, brunch or an evening meal yet, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended for functions.

There's something about Freddie's that just reminds you of some old school charm.the decor - a touch nostalgic.with lots of space for small or large gatherings. For me, it oozes warmth, especially when the service is filled with smiles. The place was pretty filled up when we arrived around midday, ordered fritters, and pancakes. They kindly explained, as their renovations are in progress, their kitchen is a little limited from their regular menu. Nevermind, we enjoyed the dishes all the same! And we will love to return to try dinner here too in a month's time. Wishing your team a smooth transition til renovations are completed. Thanks for a great lunch in the meantime!
