Beyond expectation. Food was really lovely and very good portion. We ordered too many and left no room for dessert! Steak Tartar was so refreshing, every single one of the 6 of us enjoyed it so much. Mussels were seasoned very well, too. Rib eye for 2 was cooked just right for medium. Beer on tap tastes good, too.
Service was attentive and welcoming.
First time here and will return! Great dinner experience.

Always a great place to eat. Would recommend the Belgian beef stew and vol-au-vent. Amazing beers as well.

Very nice ambient, waiters very attentive and most importantly, music is just the right level, ie.you can chat and don't need to shout

Franco-Belge serves delicious French food with excellent service. Flavours are beautiful, menu uncomplicated, but interesting, we loved the taste of every item we ordered, from terrine to duck breast to dessert. Hearty meals. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is deceptively expensive for what they offer compared to one other long established French restaurant in the general area.
One notable example was the snails. Last night we ate in Armadale at a long established French restaurant (Chez Bob) and for $22 you receive a dozen snails.
This restaurant charges you $19.50 for 6 snails!
The other notable feature that distinguishes these 2 restaurants is that with your mains at the Armadale venue you receive sides of vegetables as part of the course.
Alternatively this restaurant provided very limited vegetables with the main.
The other thing we noticed was that the service was very perfunctory and not very welcoming at all.
Go and try Chez Bob and enjoy the difference!

Amazingly friendly, communicative and authentic French staff. Our steaks were so soft, fries and salad were also great. Even the seating was 10/10. Beer and wine was a cherry on top. Thank you. See you again.

Ive been there with my partner and not getting really impressed at all. Food is overpriced, don't order escargot, the texture is like they have been taken out a tin. Service is also pretty poor. Good selection of wine but only few are by the glass.

Lovely food and beautiful and welcoming service by the two female waitresses, a typical kind Aussie welcome that feels so good. French male waiter who served us was pretty blunt and rude, little engagement and shoved plates on our table, pushing our plates and cutlery using the bread roll basket. We found his behaviour funny, got to see the bright side on a lovely Friday night.

Had dinner here with 4 friends over the weekend and it was fantastic! We had the french onion soup and goats cheese tart for starters and they were light, fresh and delicious. We had variations of the mussels and fries for our mains and I think they were the best mussels I've had in Melbourne! Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes mussels, great European beer and wine, and friendly service.

Excellent ambiance, service and food. Good wine and drinks list. The French onion soup is the best in Melbourne and you can dine inside or outside in the summer. Highly Recommended!

Had a fantastic lunch here. Service were incredibly friendly and helpful. Lot's of good wine and beer options and I wanted to try everything on the menu.

Went here with a group and so got to see a few reactions and taste a couple of dishes.

Had a great bottle of wine and people were generally happy with the food but it doesn't deserve five stars at the price point.

The fries were amazingly good. Order some!

Franco-Belge is simply a delightful restaurant.
I’ve had date nights, work lunches/ dinners, family dinners (8-11 year old kids loved it), functions with school dads, it’s a go to now.
The food is fantastic, the service exceptional (friendly and professional) and the wine list delicious.

Great all round dining experience. 10/10 service, authentic cuisine and atmosphere. Excellent soup, duck, pork special and deserts.

French girl was rude when we walked in, real attitude ordered 2 coffees which she couldn't remember and chocolate croissant, put coffees on bench didnt say they were there, croissant was bland and stale, didnt want the hassell of dealing with her again, coffee was good but smallest late ever seen like a piccolo cup

A long overdue addition to the area. Great Food, Beer and Wine.
Escargot then soak the Baguette in the Garlic Butter.
Hand Cut Steak Tartare or Mussels Au Bleu / Blue Cheese Sauce and the Assiette Gourmande Selection of 4 Petit Desserts.

Excellent French menu with great service. A selection of traditional French dishes are available, including moules (mussels).
