Fonda Mexican

I've had several great meals at Fonda (or from here), the staff have been universally cheerful and competent and the food is usually delicious. The kitchen has let us down a couple of times, hence, no fifth star.

The mix of food flavours is very refreshing and a nice change of pace from your standard fare. Only issue for me is the portion size is too small so you will have to get entrees or a second/side dish.

A box of plain chips and 2 dips of salsa and guacamole after 2 wrong orders in a row. $16 for nothing.

Go for the lunch special if you are there during lunch time for $20.
Chips and a very refreshing lemonade are thrown in with the deal.
For tacos, I'd recommend the fish or prawns one.

Lovely place and food but the portion sizes can feel a little small. Especially for the chips and other sides. Recommend you try the burritos though.

Tried the cheeseburger burrito (special). May not have been 100 percent authentic, but it had great flavour and not too heavy.

Although the staff were really lovely, and the food was tasty, there appears to be something missing in their system because our multiple drink orders seemed to go MIA and when followed up, still took a VERY long time.

Good food, gorgeous fit-out, friendly service but a quite a bit all over the place. Were waiting ages for drinks that we ordered upon our arrival. Probably need to look at your procedures, Fonda could be a 5 star place with a little bit of extra effort

I'm really Fonda of this place.great decor! Friendly and attentive staff. Stripped back mexican food with hipster style.

Fresh Mexican food. Good service from happy welcoming staff. Variety of drinks both non alcoholic an alcoholic. Maitre de young and very competent.

Great food and a really enjoyable time. Prices are a little expensive for the small portion size, but if sharing with friends it's easy to fill up and find things everyone will enjoy!

We go to Fonda every now and again, and I must say it's hard to leave unsatisfied. The food's always good and enjoyable, and we just love the Jane Fonda sauce! Cocktails are great too, esp.the Lychee/Elderflower frozen margarita! If I have to criticize anything, it would only be that the burritos seem to keep getting smaller.

Just ordered from Fonda Hawthorn through Uber Eats.
Fonda forgot to put in the Corn Chips and they blamed Uber and Uber blamed Fonda.
What a circus.
Such a simple thing to get an order right.
Obviously not for Fonda Hawthorn.

Very popular restaurant so expect to wait for a table at peak times. Friendly staff and good food made our wait worthwhile.

I used to love Fonda, but after coming here a week ago I was really dissapointed with the small serving sizes and high prices. They have skyrocketed in price recently!

Great range of variety for the whole family in particular for those with vegetarians and gluten free preferences. The friendly staff were very helpful in explaining their gluten free range. I would have liked more gluten free options for coeliac disease (as some of the gluten free options may contain contaminants) but still happy with the range that is offered.

Awesome fitout, music and atmosphere. The food was amazing, recommend the chicken tacos and the beef burrito. Great service and margaritas too! Will be back

Not a place I'd recommend. Very small serves at too high prices for what you get. (Been there 3 times at the behest of friends but won't be cajoled into doing so again.) On top of that the cuisine.supposedly 'Mexican' or perhaps 'TexMex' in name perhaps but in reality no! There are many other and better faux 'Mexican ' eateries around town go to one of those instead.
I'd give it no stars but that is not an option.

Went here for a birthday get together. The team were very warm and accommodating. One of the waiters Tom was very understanding given the size of our group and super tentative. Food was fresh and moresih. Love the choice of vegetarian dishes in the menu. Good range of choices for drinks as well. Would definitely go back and recommend.
