Everything including the service was pretty average or below, nothing special. The tortilla was cold and not very appetising.

If ya Fancy Mexican food, in a chill setting, with friendly staff and excellent food, then ya in the right spot.
Went at lunch, was busy, but got shown to a table and our food came pretty quick-had the Chicken Quesadilla, for $16 and hubby had the char chicken meal deal, with a drink for $20.
Will definitely head there again, recommend a visit if ya need a Mexican food hit.

Good place to eat in the city. Food was very tasty and arrived quickly.
Even with the 15% public holiday surcharge we did not feel hard done by. Chicken burrito was a winner

Had such a good time here! The food was amazing and the staff so friendly and welcoming. BIG shout out to the incredible Connie who was so warm and went out of her way to make us enjoy our experience! We will be back and thanks again. Bianca xx

We ordered some drinks, tortilla crisps and tacos as soon as we sat down.
Drinks came reasonably quick but was another 15 minutes before the tortillas arrived and 45 minutes before our tacos arrived.
Tortillas were stale with unseasoned guacamole and unfortunately they were the best part.
Ok granted we were a walk in on Easter Sunday night I would not usually leave a review like this, but when the tacos took as long as they did and then came stone cold (fish, prawn, chicken and beef), bland and dripping with liquid, the logical response is to warn people from wasting their hard earn money on a souless "restaurant" like this.
Honestly Guzman Y Gomez would've been a much cheaper, tastier and nicer experience.

What else can I say, other than the fact that FONDA is on top of their game, very trendy, incredible food, Everything I tried was absolutely beautiful
The textures and tastes all together makes for a full home run
The staff were really nice and did a great job at making everyone happy and welcome, I was really impressed.
I would definitely recommend FONDA for a night out or even a lunch date between friends or family.
I can't wait to come back!

Average food with below average customer service.
Ordered a few dishes, two of which were forgotten. Half the table had already finished their meals by the time they rushed to make the forgotten meals. Staff were rude and did not even apologise for forgotten meals. Also, two seperate groups that were seated nearby were also missing meals. Unfortunately I will not be returning back to Fonda.

Us and a couple of other customers had to wait quite a while to be seated.
Staff told us to order via the QR code but there was no 4G signal and no wifi in the restaurant so neither of us could load the menu and had to go order at the counter.
15% surcharge for the public holiday meant we decided to order less food.obviously.so they ended up getting less of our money. We would’ve liked to try their drinks otherwise.
The food is pretty good, but even by Texmex standards there are much better places around.

I was having very bad experience here.

-> Staff is rude, they just throw the food on the table.
-> They gave me the food very late, and asked us to vacate the table within 5 minutes after serving the food.
-> and this is not a Mexican food at all.only restaurant name and food names are Mexican, actual food is not at all Mexican.

It is completely waste to go to this place.

The Tacos were amazing but the nachos were unfortunately not as great and guacamole was bland with a huge chunk of avocado that somehow missed the mashing process

: Had a massive Mexican food craving the last few weeks so visited Fonda a few times for their tasty range.

️: Loved the Fonda Salad with chicken and fried fish, super tasty and filling. Also got the nachos to start, of course. Didn’t miss out on the tacos and quesadilla as well.

Fonda is one of a kind. Great tacos (the fish and prawn tacos are crazy good!), lovely staff and fun ambiance.

Keep eyes out for the roaming possom if you are out the front. Also super easy to order on their qr code app. Enjoy. Will be worth it.

Service was poor we even had to ask for water after 30 min wait. They did not brings full banquet then asked us to leave “when time was up”. Food was ok when it came but never got the dessert. We were there on New Year’s Eve and will not be back

Very tiny tables, booked 2 weeks in advance. Only to have a bar stool for a table up against the wall. They were planning to serve 5 meals at once like this. Asked to move tables got a "sorry can't we are booked out". Put some other stooge on the dinky table then

Been here a number of times and have always found the food delicious. The wait staff are very friendly also. I like the system now where you can order via QR at your table.

Got here by 5.30 on a Friday afternoon with a friend, which was just before the place started to get busy and also meant we could get happy hour frozen margaritas for 6 bucks (finishes at 6pm, so two each thanks). We also ordered the main portion of beef nachos, a pork quesidilla and some chipotle chips, all of which came to 69 which including the drinks I didn't think was too bad. The service was good, food came out quick but do need to be aware that you go up to the counter to order. The place has a good lovely atmosphere but is spacious enough. The nachos were probably the best part of the meal and while I did enjoy everything I felt the quesidilla was lacking a little in the ingredients department. Otherwise a good experience and would return.

Wow, who would have thought ordering lunch could be so difficult and so unpleasant. This "place of food" (restaurant is far too generous a term that implies hospitality) takes making it hard to a form of high art. All I can say is that the food, if you actually get to ordering and eating it — assume nothing after entering this bizarre Kafkaesque labyrinth, is overpriced and unremarkable. Looking at the other reviews it seems a lot of people don’t think their set up is working out for them.

The system for ordering and seating guests is moronic to the point of drooling stupor. On entry a sign says wait to be seated. Seems pretty straightforward, but no one ever turns up to seat you. On my first visit I stood there waiting as a stream of others shoved past to a counter further in so I joined that, now behind a bunch of people who came after me. After waiting here for close to ten minutes I was told I had to go and find my own table before I ordered, somehow reserve this table; even though I’m on my own and the chance of someone else taking that table during the lunchtime rush once I go back to order is pretty high — and then come back to the counter and queue up again. I opted for takeaway as it was getting ridiculous and my lunch break was almost over.

A month later I thought I’d give them one more try, surely this was a crazy one off situation. Nup. Again on arrival there is no one to seat you despite prominent and stern looking signage telling you to wait — I wasn’t going to fall for that chestnut again. I queued up and then told them I wanted to be seated please, they said sure no worries and a guy came and took me to a table, then informed me that despite being seated I’d have to go back to the counter re-queue behind 10 people and order there – effectively losing the table I’d just queued to secure. I asked the guy what the point of taking me to a table when I hadn’t ordered was and why I wasn’t given the chance to place my order when I first queued and he just shrugged. I asked what was the point of taking me to a table if he knew I’d have to leave it and go back and re-queue to all over again order? Why can’t they have prominent signage saying no table service/order at counter instead of a big sign saying wait to be seated which implies some level of actual service? That would just make sense and we can’t have that in this insane hipsterfied kudzu. There needs to be a zero stars option.

Food was delicious, very very noisy and awkward ordering at the front counter with people coming in the door (Flinders St).
