Flying Tarts Bakery & Cafe reviews
52As a regular to Flying Tarts pre Covid, I have to say today we were disappointed. The food has always been good and today was the same. We dined in. We were not provided with plates or cutlery. Coffees were served in disposable cups. We had to ask for serviettes. Both the floors inside the cafe and on the deck are in serious need of a mop. The balastrading and window ledges need a good wash/down and dust. The one toilet for patrons was in need of a deep clean, with paper towels on the floor. I cant believe staff are not rostered to mop and dust on a daily basis. The tables were clean. I think it will be a very long time before we come back here.
Coffee great and the cakes are magnificent. One of the best tasting lamingtons I've had. They are huge asks with jam in the middle.
Great location with indoor & outdoor dining along with friendly service and amazing food. Possibly the best salad roll I have ever had! And the berry pie was pretty good too!
The pastries were wonderfully flaky and filling and the tarts were a lovely balance of rich and fluffy. Staff were lovely.
Great pies and cakes. Indoor seating and outside with plastic blinds for protection. There are even a couple of seats out the front. Plenty of parking
Great place to visit before (to get picnic supplies) or after a waterfall walk. Amazing pastries, especially the vanilla slice!
Stopped in after hiking the Mount Sugarfloaf circuit, exactly what we needed after the hike! Delicious pies and sausage rolls. It was late in the day, so the choices were limited, but even the standard pies are full of flavour with the perfect crust. Also enjoy a freshly made eclair, the cream was lovely and light.
Sausage rolls magnificent
Camembert Chicken pie and puff pastry made a hell of a mess of my car, worth every bite.
Staff are friendly, nothing to much trouble, an oasis of rustic cuisine
I highly recommend this - friendly service and delicious food. I had the butter-chicken pie and possibly the best coffee I've had in years.
Best sausage rolld curry pies there is
Don't bother with sanfwhiches or focaccias (less than average tbh) just head straight to the warmer for the baked goods, you will not be dissapointed: unless of course you arrive after 12pm and then their will be a lunch-queue a mile long, hardly any pies left, and a whole heap of 'weekenders' with their noisy, snotty kids to contend with
I have been there today, the food were alright but all the floors inside and outside very dirty like never been cleaning for yeras also my partner he been to men toilet he said nio light working there and paper were every where on the floor. The dirtiest bakery shop, s floor i have ever seen in Australia.
We had a good time with our bushwalking group here. The only thing was that they didn't let us to be served inside. We preferred to be served inside in a warm place after 14 km bushwalking in Kinglake National Park in a cold day, but they served us outdoor with takeaway cups. Coffees were enough hot for a cold day, Thank you.
Pecan tart was good and custard tart was excellent. Coffee is ok. Location, ambience and service are all good. But.sit down coffees served in takeaway cups, complete with plastic lids? Really? So environmentally unfriendly! Not to mention that it doesn't taste as good in takeaway cups. Table cleaning was not up to standard - it was done, but not frequently enough, so many of the vacant tables were unuseable.
Enjoyed the break in our travels here and had great tasting and fresh food, with service from smiling staff. Thank you.
What sort of bakery doesn’t stock loafs of bread. Asked for one and they said sorry we haven’t ordered any in a while we don’t really do that anymore. Can’t really be called a bakery if there’s no baking on site.
The people working here are happy and smiling all The time the food is great I had a mushroom pie followed by a vanilla slice truly magnificent
I may be warming to this Aussie pie thing. I had a Butter chicken pie here (kinda Aussie), very nice, big chunks of chicken. Lamington was nice, coffee was nice. Staff were nice. I'll be back.
It's always busy, which is definitely a good sign, but the ladies that work behind the counter need a nice rest. There never seems to be enough staff. We will be back. Awesome pies.
The iced coffee here is INSANELY BRILLIANT! Made with coffee flavoured ice cream.
Bring a book, sit outside in the nice setting and enjoy.
Impressive the quality of the food, specially the cakes. This is a shop in the middle of nowhere and yet spectacular food.could easily compete with business in Melbourne.
