Fitzroy Painting reviews
67Loved the workshop. Judith was warm and inviting, making those of us a tad tentative, feel relaxed and able. She was generous with her encouragement, and gave informed instructions based on decades of experience. The class was well-paced and we left with a deeper understanding of the material and our tools and some skills that we can build on. Loved the venue and appreciated the morning tea too. Look forward to building on this experience, Thank you
A seriously fantastic class. I was so nervous to start that I put it off for years. Ebony was such a great teacher that after finishing the 4th class, I have the confidence to explore painting at home. The studio is relaxing and inspiring, and it was great to see everyone in the class develop their skills over the 4 weeks. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in painting for the first time. 10/10
We just enjoyed a great four week drawing class with Ebony. Everything about it was fantastic, the school is generous with materials, knowledge and snacks!
Just completed my first 4 week drawing class with Ebony. Loved it! A really evocative 19 century studio space. Perfect environment to try a range of techniques. Ebony is really encouraging. I’m enrolling for more classes. Highly recommended.
The space and the teachers are just wonderful. I love going to my oil painting class! Would highly recommend!
What a wonderful studio tucked away in Fitzroy. A friend invited me to join her for a class. The instructor was amazing! Attentive, giving all students guidance and direction. The atmosphere was professional - here to get work done; but so warm, weLooming and friendly! I highly recommend this experience whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner! Just be sure you have the stamina to climb stairs!
Lovely Sunday afternoon immersed in watercolour painting with Judith. She ran a relaxing class with a lot of patience and clear instructions.
Kez is a great teacher 'dad jokes' and all. She has a vast knowledge of the materials and conveys that information in clear and simple language. She guided us through a great introduction to oils and we all ended up with a painting that we would no be ashamed of. The venue has its charms as well.
I love Fitzroy Painting, I’ve done 2 day courses there, one on portraiture and one on oil painting.
They have the best teachers, real artists that make the days both challenging and rewarding in an awesome environment. All materials supplied so you don’t have to think about all that. I also enjoy getting such a good overview or introduction that I can then practice at home. Delicious cookies and vino contribute also, to the artistic process.
Wonderful time learning how to paint still life in oils. Judith our teacher was very knowledgeable and helpful. Very attentive to detail. I learnt a lot during four weeks of classes. I will return for other classes.
I had a great day at Fitzroy Painting, and learnt a lot. Judith is lovely. I would recommend the class to anyone who wants a fun, creative day and a solid start to developing their artistic style.
Highly Recommend the beginners oil panting class. I had never painted anything properly before this! Kez and Adrianne were fabulous teachers, it was such a warm and welcoming space. They guided us gently through the process, and taught us the essentials to allow us to put together a painting by the end of the day (with a glass of wine I might add).
Feeling really inspired and can’t wait to start painting at home!
This course is perfect for beginners. Judith, our teacher, was knowledgable and approachable. Thanks for making it an enjoyable experience!
What a great day.
Kez and Adriane were awesome - providing heaps of information, help and insight - with a great balance of humour and teaching.would highly recommend.
Great oil painting for beginners class with Kez and Adriane:) super supportive and helpful- great teachers! Also played great music the entire day, cherry on top of a wonderful experience in the studio!
What an amazing class. I was luckly to meet excellent and friendly painting teachers. Working in an encouraging environment is so exciting. I have learned some of the basic concepts about oil painting. I am so excited to have another class in future
Special thanks to Kez and Adriane looking forward to meet you again
I started here as a beginner two and half years ago and love it! A friend and I completed the 4 week beginners course and now continue there on Tuesday nights in the atelier class taught by Kez Hughes. Its a fantastic group of people, a safe place to learn and develop skills as well as a place to socialise and chill out. There are varying skill levels and no pressure to be a great artist! The cheese and wine are a great touch too.
Cant recommend highly enough!
A fantastic painting class that’s invaluable for both beginners and more intermediate painters. Both Kez and Adriane (successful commercial artists and teachers) will help you structure and build pathways to achieving solid painting technique. They’ll also help you explore your own preferred painting style. Highly recommend this course!
As a longtime student of the Fitzroy Painting Studio and now part of the Atelier class, I am always inspired by Adriane and Kez. Not only as artists but through the expert technical training they provide. They offer students a breadth of information not offered at other classes. Topics such as artists materials, exhibiting as well as specialist classes by other well known artists in art history, portraiture, landscapes and more. It’s fun plus there’s wine and cheese!
Thanks Ardriane for organising the lecture on History of Art by Geoff Tolchard. It was a very interesting and insightful lecture covering history of western art. Geoff was impressive (went through 96 slides without rushing in two hours), passionate and funny. I particularly liked that class discussion and sharing experiences was encouraged.
I look forward to attending the other lectures.
