Fitzroy Gardens reviews
64Exceptional garden in centre off a busy cbd.beautifully cared for with some amazing planting and old huge trees planted by intelligent forefathers. Thank you
Beautifully kept park loads to see and uncrowdedvnice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne.
A nice garden with lots to see. Miniature English village, Cooks’ Cottage, Conservatory. Close to Jolimont Station, trams and the city.
Oasis in CBD, cant ask for more. Sit and enjoy, walk and explore. Best free thing in the world, cool and COOL!
Really pretty spot, especially considering thay it's nestled right in the city. Beautiful buildings immediately surrounding. Great environment (aesthetics and vibe-wise)
Probably together with the botanic gardens, the nicest parks in melbourne as many of the others so called parks are actually not at all parks, but just few alleys with no benches and maaaaybe one barbeque area.if any. It is beautiful, green, clean, why are there not more like this? Sooo many are dirty and full of weeds. You have to wonder.does somebody really care?
Very comforting place to go for a walk. There are so many small paths and hidden gems. It is a beautiful piece of nature.
A lovely park, covered with lush lawns & interspersed with a wide range of native & foreign trees & flower beds.
I really loved that beautiful place. Everywhere you look is perfect. A green place, with a lot of grass and trees. Very quiet and peaceful.
Really love these gardens, the best for walking or running. Always clean, plants and the cottages are well kept. Nice place to have a walk by.
Greatly under-utilised parkland. Good for all (legal) purposes a park is fit for, with bonus of not being crowded ever.
Happy to call it our local. This is the Melbournes little 'central park'. Great to bring the kids to visit the cafe, check out the tucked away water filtration garden around the visitor centre big surprise at the end. Mornings walks here are breathtaking stop and take in the nature so close to the city.
I have been going to fitzroy gardens since childhood. Landscape is very up keep. Observatory always refreshed with beautiful plants. Best part is a aromatic coffee at the parks cafe, after a long stroll through the park.
Went beginning of Sept 2018 and they had quite a few areas under construction so we weren't able to enjoy everything (looking forward dolphin fountain, but that was just a big hole)
Other than that, great place to unwind and relax. Kids had fun running around and it's lovely lush grass is great for picnics.
Just be careful of parking. It's 1hr, even on Sunday.
Signage needs to be better. Was disappointed that you couldn't wonder around the model Tudor village. Fairy tree was a little underwhelming and playground had 3 things. Could also benefit from a parents friendly toilet for change kids.
It is such a neutral place for all modes of sadness, happiness, normal etc. It has got a variety of generous gardens, water, shadows, sunshine, and parking. I always love this place. Strongly recommend
Fitzroy Gardens are on the eastern side of Melbourne CBD. Well worth the time to take a stroll even on an overcast and cold day. Visit the Conservatory, perhaps Captain Cook's Cottage or the model English village which was a gift to Melbourne after WWII.
Absolutely gorgeous gardens! We spent a few hours here admiring all the beautiful flowers, plants and trees! So many perfect spots for a picnic and lovely paths to stroll along. We loved the greenhouse (our favourite part!) and the pretty fountains and ponds. A variety of birds can be seen here too. A great place to enjoy a day outside in both sunshine or shade! We'll be back!
It's as good as any park you can compare with added advantage of having it near to walking distance from Melbourne city. Having Cook's cottage, Sinclair's cottage and couple of other historical places inside the park gives Fitzroy Garden that extra adge over all other surrounding parks near cbd. Overall the Big plus for me is having it so close to big and busy cbd, yet gives that calmness and peace you need to relax your head and mind.
