Very disappointed today, with the young lady on duty at door. I went with my son to get a covid test done (not syntactic but wanted a clearance) treated us very unprofessionally. She didn’t even let us into the building! I clearly told her this is for a covid clearance and we are not been anywhere or syntactic. I clearly say that you are a racist person and you treated me and my 6 year old like we don’t belong in this country. Even my son was asking the same when we walk back to the car! I have been many times to epworth before and never had any dramas before. There was another lady trying to help us out but it didn’t succeed at all. Shame on you! We are well past the racist era, If you still belong there, I think you shouldn’t be there at front door and you must going through some early childhood development issues. Go get your self checked! Date 18/10/21 time of incident around 4pm.

Recently I spent some time in ICU at Epworth hospital Geelong, not something everyone wants but led by Chris it made it a lot easier, it was a very eye opening experience as to the work our fantastic nurses have to do under extreme circumstances everyday. I was then transferred to level 3 to hang out with Robyn and all level 3 staff, fantastic all nursing staff nothing was a
problem I was kept up to date on everything that was happening Very big thank you to all staff, the only thing I didn't like was the air-conditioning.

Had a bad experience with Patricia Bains.
If I have ever seen a incompetent narsastic doctor she would have to be the one. Not only was she rude, dismissive and avile person. The way I entered the Ed department is the way I left 6 hours later. She pretty much kicked me out because she couldn't handle my pain. I was threatened too be kicked out cause I asked her to help me. "I said I'm in so much pain I feel like killing myself". Wrong choice of words on my part but her response was if your suicidle we must transfer you to another hospital. I said that's not what I mean, it's a figure of speech. Every time I tried to push the buzzer for a spu bag they would turn the buzzer off. After 30min of asking for assistance no one came to help so I lent over to grab one myself, fell on the ground throwing up. They rushed to my aid, said we are trying to help you. I said no your not. If anything your putting me through more distress. She would lean over me in a hostile position with her hands on her hips. After she spoke to my doctor these where her words. "your doctor has asked me to give you a referral letter to see a stomach doctor and have asked to have you escorted out the building".
I looked at her and said there is no way my doctor would say that. I left there in more pain, distress, with no relief. Now everytime I go to the Emergency Department I make sure she is not assigned to me. Worst experience of my life! I have never had a problem with any other doctor in ED but her. Terrible bedside manner.

The hospital is great and nursing staff are too however the security working there he is the most arrogant person and very rude it is what gives the bad review for hospital overall as this person let down the hospital overall.

As much as I hate hospitals, the staff here made me feel at ease. Always caring, respectful, and set realistic expectations. Kudos to the team!

I have just had my second hip replacement surgery and subsequently moved from Epworth Richmond to Epworth Geelong for rehab. I have to say that The Nurses, Doctors, food staff, the cleaning staff were all just FANTASTIC, The facilities are magnificent, all the staff mentioned above were very friendly and didn't hesitate to go out of their way to help when asked. Cannot make enough good comments about the crew in rehab Thanks gang

I recently had my first surgery of my life in Epworth and I was so happy, relaxed and satisfied to see the environment of Epworth hospital. As it was my first surgery of my life, i was so nervous and freaking out inside my heart. I shared my heart to nurses and told them how I am feeling and they took extra care of me and did their best to make me calm. When I entered into the hospital, a lady advised me to change my mask and wear this new one. I was so happy to hear that because of the precautions they are taking and how well disciplined it will look. Changing a mask will ensure precautionary measure in regards to covid and will look like uniform. Well done Epworth Hospital Geelong. Moving forward, they checked my vitals, gave me a gown to wear and set my bed. Lovely nurse asked me to relax while someone's come to take me for surgery. I was relaxing in nicely warm cosy bed and my anaesthetic nurse came. She made me so much comfortable when i told her about my nervousness and it was my first time taking anaesthesia. She was continuously talking to me and ensuring me how they will take care of me and lovely anaesthetic dr.came and explained everything about anaesthesia and finally i met my doctor who was going to perform the surgery and he explained everything so well. After the surgery, nurses took great care of me and treated me so well. I was feeling cold, they were putting warm blankets over me and checking on me time to time. They also helped me to go to rest room and they were with me until i wake up and completely better. I asked my nurse to let my partner know procedure went well and she called him straight away. We need hospitals like Epworth Geelong. I am so happy that my doctor advise me Epworth for surgery. Initially i was a bit worried about cost but my private insurance covered it and I am glad. I just want to say bundle of thanks to this Amazing Hospital Team. I trust this hospital and its lively team. Epworth team, you all are doing a great job. Well done

I rushed to the Epworth in Geelong last Friday 6th of August with what turned out to be appendicitis. I cannot give enough praise and am so grateful for the care and treatment I received. The facilities, quality of care and level of service such as food and electronic facilities are at 5 star level. My eternal thanks to the doctors, nurses and all other staff for making my time there as pleasant as it could possible have been. THANK YOU.

Lets face it - going to hospital is never going to be a fun experience. The doctors and nurses are often seeing us at our worst while we expect them to treat us with their best. It's a reasonably unfair arrangement if you think about it. It's for that reason I am hesitant to write this review (especially in a public forum as these things are personal and in my opinion always best to try to be resolved privately).

For the most part I found the care from the nurses to be outstanding. The room I was in post surgery was particularly unpleasant but that is not the nurses fault and is was it is (every nurse on every shift apologised for it). I had a minor surgery but was / is has been significant in impact. I have not been provided with any information on potential complications on discharge. Indeed I was given a blank patient discharge plan. That’s pretty poor & should be given to all post operative patients on discharge. I did provide all of this feedback confidentially to the Epworth at first and they asked me to return a call (which I did) and have since heard nothing.

Worst hospital ever. I was in severe pain from day surgery and all the nurse was interested in was cost cutting. Instead of giving me pain killers she told me to buy heat packs and pain killers from the pharmacy in the hospital entrance when I have just come out of surgery and waken up from general anaesthesia and is so much pain I can't even walk.

I am a private patient and my health insurer is paying heaps for this hospital admission and the nurse won't even give me a pain killer when I had just come out from surgery and she expects me to hobble or crawl to the hospital pharmacy to buy my own painkiller and heat pack when they are charging my private health insurer thousands for my hospital admission. This nurse needs to be fired and this hospital needs to be investigated for prioritising costs over patients. This hospital treats patients worse than 3rd world hospitals. This hospital needs to be investigated by the VIC government.

Don't believe a word the hospital response wrote. They absolutely did not care one bit about me and the agony I was in after the surgery. My formal complaints were responded with some generic email which did not address a single part of my complaint.

Avoid this morally depraved hospital!

What a great hospital. The staff were great and caring. You never felt like you had been forgotten. The wait time were not too long. The place is very clean and the staff are covid savvy. The car park is under cctv for security. The grounds and the surrounding area are very well kept by the maintenance staff. Having said all that i hope I don't have to go back. Health is wealth.

Very disappointed that the Epworth at Waurn Ponds is making everyone entering the building change their own brand-new surgical mask to another hospital supplied surgical mask. If someone has just put on a new surgical-grade mask, this is an absolutely unnecessary disgrace to the environment! Adding insult to injury is the fact that I have entered this hospital twice in the last few weeks, once to visit a surgeon's rooms on level 2, and once to go to Siles, and both times I have witnessed one or more reception staff in these rooms wearing their masks under their chins! If you are going to make visitors and patients unnecessarily change their masks to 'stop the spread', then the very least you can do is make sure your staff wear their masks properly at all times! Absolutely disgraceful and illogical.

After having back surgery and spending 4 days in Epworth Geelong, I found that all the nurses, theatre Staff, admin, cleaners, food staff were just lovely and understanding.
My private room was large enough, modern, clean and QUIET.
I loved the meal ordering system touch screen TV, with a great range to select from and I could even select what time I wanted my meal from a range of times and of course the Meals were great.
I’ve been in a couple of our other Geelong Hospitials with no complaints, BUT Epworth will be my 1st preference from now on. Keep up the great work.

But, Only one thing that could be improved, to assist family & visitors, rotate that parking ticket machine so its facing inside, does get cold and breezy outside, also that machine is frustrating and I see that a number of people require assistance, facing it inside your concierge could assist elderly when needed.

I spent 3 days in Epworth and would like to say a massive thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff for looking after me in a professional and caring manner.
The hospital itself is well equipped and ran accordingly. The doctors provided concise diagnosis with easy to understand explanations, the nurses were caring and considerate, nothing was too much trouble.
The hospitality and cleaning staff were polite and efficient too.
Again, thank you Epworth for your 5 star treatment and hospitality.

As someone who is a practising registered critical care nurse and has been a patient here numerous time. I'm sad to see the quality of staff both in knowledge of practice and compassion decrease over the past 3 years. The inability to listen to patients and provide basic care such as bed changing when sheets have been soiled should not be too much to to ask. This is a hospital I would alway recommend to family and friends, now not so sure after the last 2 recent experiences over the past 3 weeks.

The most caring and compassionate staff who managed to make a very emotional experience for myself and my family less daunting. The follow up and after care has been first class, also. Could not recommend Dr Emily Huning, the theatre staff and nurses more. They truly are the best.
