My dad was admitted to the emergency on 26/12/2023. I cant remember the nurse name (she was originally from Singapore), she was amazing, very gentle, very helpful, very comforting. So gratefully for her and the doctor and all the staff are super nice.thank you for looking after my dad. GBU

Had a relatively small procedure Monday 22nd January and recovered in 3 West of the hospital - all the nurses were great but I just wanted to thank Becky in particular. She was truly amazing, the Gold Standard of professionalism and compassion. We need more like her.

Having Mr Andrew Byrne (Orthopedic Surgeon) move his Surgery And 'Orthopedic Rooms' from Ballarat to the Epworth Hospital in Geelong / Waurn Ponds several years ago, was the best move! The Hospital is lovely, the staff (nurses, cleaners, etc.) are all very patient, as are the Orthopedic Surgeons!
UPDATE:
Surgery / Staff Vs. Patient. August 2023 The History of prior 'Surgery Respect' given to the Patient, needs to be re-examined. Dollars $$$$$ do not equal Respect

After a recent fall I was admitted to ED then transferred to 5E! I was so fortunate to have been cared for by such a wonderful team! Special thanks to Emma who took such good care of me. Thank you to Nathan Donovan for putting my foot back together and for his expertise. Thanks to Sini, Narelle, Jordan and the whole team! Very best care by a beautiful team! How fortunate are we in Geelong to have such a state of the art facility and such great practitioners! God bless them all!

Incredible staff, extremely focussed on the patient with exceptional care. Menu and food quality superb. Felt like I was dining at a quality restaurant, not at hospital.

I had an MRI here yesterday and am overwhelmed with how amazingly I was treated. They showed me so much compassion and kindness. I am in acute chronic pain and when I arrived early they told me to come in and straight away got me in a bed while waiting for my appointment. The lovely nurse made sure I was as comfortable as possible. Every person I interacted with was lovely.

Went in for a back operation. The nursing staff that looked after me for 5 days were amazing. Competent, fantastic communicators and attentive. I was lucky enough to have Leigh, Kim, Molly, Emma, Sarah and others that helped. Really appreciated their care and support. Thank you.

My first time at Epworth Geelong Hospital was a few months ago. I was extremely impressed by the level of care, quality food, great Dr's and nurses. The room I was allocated was private which I wasn't expecting either and even the room was spectacular. Even though I will be going there every 3-4 months now for treatment, this is one of the better hospitals that I have been admitted to. After 1 week of treatment I felt amazing afterwards which I believe that the environment played a part in this. Great place. Just wish you could get a great chai tea on Saturday and Sunday though.

Leaving a patient covid positive who has other issues on top of that and not responding to when wanting assistance for upto 40 minutes on average is pretty ordinary. Your staff ought to be ashamed of themselves! Lucky to get one star. More like 0 stars with that terrible service

The family of Jean Tansey (Ward 5 East, Room 554) would like to thank all the Staff that had interaction with Jean over her final week of life. The compassion, care and service shown to Jean and family was amazing and we could not have asked for better staff, service or facilities. We would particularly like to mention the following staff members, Asha, Clara, Kerry and Dr. Peter ISER.

Epworth Geelong,
Is a first class, Hospital, with every area. They are very professional, the Dr V. Was extremely helpful, and the nursing staff,
Caring, efficient, kind, respectful,
The Hospital is a beautiful place, and the entire staff are friendly,
It is not the usual type of hospital,
It’s just like staying in a lovely hotel. And if you have any health issues, Epworth Geelong, is the best choice if you are fortunate enough to have a DR, that goes there.
I can’t speak highly enough about this HOSPITAL.
I may be going back to Epworth, and I don’t think that it will be anything, but a pleasure to go there. They also have a Wonderful Pain Management centre there, it’s pain Matrix. Top of the range. All in all it’s first class. And the food is definitely delightful. Jo M.

Been here for a couple of things and found the place and staff a pleasure. The EMI lady today was lovely and even wished me well as we passed nearby in carpark.

I can happily say that a very caring person took charge of this and sorted everything out - thank you Dr Nick.

Epworth - Putting profits ahead of patients. My son presented at Epworth Geelong with suspected appendicitis. ED took him in (with an upfront payment) and confirmed this but would not admit him as the health insurance system did not recognise his cover. Spoke to the team who were very sympathetic but said they could not admit him because the system said he wasn't covered by private insurance despite the fact that he was. As they could not contact the health insurance provider till tomorrow, he was transferred to the public hospital. Epworth only cared about the risk of my son not being covered and me not being able to pay. What's the point of having private health insurance and where is our compassion for health care these days?

I would like to thank the wonderful staff and nurses in the Cardiac Imaging area. Nurse Sue and her colleagues were professional and very caring. Dr Catherine Zaworski was caring and explained the process of my test in a way that made me feel very relaxed. A wonderful professional! Mo and the nursing staff up on ward 3 in the Cardiac ward were amazing, caring and gave their professional time to make me feel comfortable. The hospital is amazing. Thank you!

Was under the care of Dr Kara from Pain Matrix. She is a great doctor and very professional. I handed in my meds in the am to the administration nurse. The meds were listed with relevant amounts etc. Nightmare started. Told anaesthetist that I wasn't breathing properly 3 times before being sedated and that chord was across my throat which I moved twice. It also took me a lot longer to come to in recovery compared to last 2 times which was apparently due to the fact that I was told that I wasn't breathing properly during procedure. Once in ward, then asked for panadene forte which was prescribed by my GP and Dr Kara was aware. The nurse said was NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE IT as the anaesthetist did not sign it off. Was told by Dr that she did not want to sign it off. Ie anaesthetist. I said to my doctor that's not up to her as my doctor prescribed that and you were aware too. The anaesthetist apologised to Dr Kara NOT TO ME! Call was made to Epworth doctor on duty and she refused my pain relief also WITHOUT TALKING TO ME OR SEEING ME! Call was then made to Dr Kara and verbal approval given. I waited 1hr and 20 min in a lot of pain for any pain relief. Was told that they were on hand over. Not happy. Spoke with Dr Kara for about 20min after she had finished work and she was concerned too. Approval was GIVEN AGAIN for panadene forte. Asked for it before bed and was refused it again. Epworth doctor on duty once again refused. Asked nurse to call Dr Kara again and was approved again as was not signed off. There has to be a better system in place for patients in pain with ALREADY PRESCRIBED MEDICATION. Tried several times to speak with ward manager and HR no one having decency to call me back. This is the second times have had major issues here after going to the Health Commission.
