ENA - Southbank (Melbourne CBD) reviews
77The cost for the Greek cuisine was disproportionately high given its lack of authenticity. Regrettably, I've decided not to revisit. The so-called meat platter banquet failed to meet expectations, presenting a thoroughly underwhelming experience that left me quite disappointed. The discrepancy between the price and the quality of the culinary offering was particularly discouraging.
Food quality was poor given the overpriced menu. You can't have souvlaki when dining in which is disappointing. Service was slow as well.
We went to Yassas, a restaurant serving Greek cuisine, located at Southgate in Southbank. We got the Meat and Seafood platters to share among the 5 of us; when the bill came through though we realised that the set menus would have got us a better bang for the buck. The meat platter consisted of lamb & chicken gyros, lamb cutlets and pork skewers, and there were chargrilled prawns, calamari, grilled fish, grilled scallops, bugs and octopus on the seafood platter. The meats on the meat platter were really dry and chewy, and they were served with pita bread that was also dry - though the tzatziki dips helped. The seafood platter was a bit better, especially the prawns and the bugs, although the grilled fish was really fishy. Overall not a fan of their food but service was friendly, and the venue was modern and cosy with an outdoor dining area overlooking the Yarra River.
Food was very basic, and it seemed like the supermarket bought type, they show off their stunning kitchen just for the basic food that was expensive, don't come here
Went to eat some good Greek food in Melbourne. Where can I start we ordered 2 lamb skewers plates, 1 chicken skewers plate, octopus, kids euros meal, 1 corona and a wine. The lamb skewers plate came out with the kids euros meal and octopus. So we asked where is the chicken skewers and they said still cooking so obviously they have forgotten it. When it finally came the chicken was pink and was told it was marinade lol what marinade makes chicken pink! Chicken needs to be white. The chips were scrap pieces that were deep fried to the max which were dark brown. The lamb plates were so suppose to come with taziki which they forgot. The kids meal didn't have pita bread which it should of had. The beer was Luke warm what a joke and to top it off $160 stay clear, unless you like eating raw chicken getting ripped off with half your meal missing.
I had the open lamb plate. Price was fair and affordable. The lamb was cooked perfect. It came out very soft and succulent, definitely not dry.
Nice casual place for a meal and great view of the Yarra!
Definitely a returning customer.
The prices have increased a lot but the food quality was bland and not tasty and the staff appeared unorganised. It was standard Greek food at high prices.
Amazing location and great experience. A good place to meet for coffee and food for either catch up or a private function. The view is jaw dropping
Had lunch at Yassas today with my Husband nice place right on the water and everything was delicious from the grilled lamb cutlets served with greek salad to the grilled Calamari served with chips and greek salad.
My only complaint would be that on my grilled Calamari they had put on an olive paste which really doesn't compliment the calamari olives belong in a greek salad not on grilled calamari take that from someone that has lived in Greece for 20 years.
Other than that the food was very tasty especially the cutlets?
We will definitely return
Ordered chargrilled octopus for mains. Got a side plate of cold oily octopus and was charged $29. Never again.
Very nice dining experience. Food was a little on the expensive side but tasty. Really good for coeliacs, with lots of gluten free options and awareness of cross contamination.
TLDR: Good friendly helpful service without being too pushy, tasty food, filling serves, good value considering location
Detailed review: Meeting over lunch with a colleague. We ordered the chicken and mixed tapsi each. The chicken was succulent and really flavoursome. The chips were divine.they use some sort of herby lemon salt which was perfectly balanced so neither of us needed the wedge of lemon that was provided. Food came out relatively quickly and serves were larger than expected so we were both full without finishing everything. Quite cheap and good value for money considering location. I have been here prior to COVID lockdowns and ordered the share platter (pictured). The quality of the food has not dropped. In both situations we just walked in and were able to get seating
Lovely food, good atmosphere but the wait staff don't give you much attention. They don't seem to check how the meals are or if we needed anything else. Customer service is a bit here nor there. There was some great traditional Greek music playing. Overall a good night out.
Gorgeous little gem. I had the swordfish and it was to die for. To top off a lovely night, service from all staff was impeccable. In particular, service from Chris was top stuff. He will make you feel at home and allow you to relish the Greek hospitality. Thank you, will definetely return!
The value for money and service was very poor. The food was very basic- $80 meze platter with a piece of over cooked saganaki that could not be cut.everything deep fried - 1 dip to share only 3 tiny pieces of pita! We had the the meat plate with chips and salad was disappointing, there was 4 table spoons of meat on the plate, Greek salad didn't have feta or olives in it! This place is very main stream and noisy, disappointment to the Greek culture here in Melbourne!
Ticks all the boxes for a nice lunch. Efficient service, delicious food and a nice outdoor balcony to catch the river crowds vibe but not be in it.
Absolutely spectacular food! I cannot recommend Yassas more highly! The ambience on the balcony is wonderful and energetic
Very bad environment. Found whole cockroaches in food. Had to come back without eating. I will never go again.
Food was delicious and very generous serving
Sat on the balcony ft like I was in the Mediterranean
Today I bought a slovaki and it didn't come with chips, I had already bought there and It had chips
