El Gordo Bendigo reviews
67Went there to pick up food for a mystery picnic day. We received tarts and a drink. Tarts were very nice. Staff were very busy but friendly. Cafe was busy and looked a nice place for a sit down
A seriously great find, up an alley way, we LOVED IT. The team are good kind passionate hospo people who love what they do. Wine and food knowledge is outstanding. We 4 Melbournites really enjoyed this hidden but found, dining experience in Bendigo. Thank you team
A little rustic and unique laneway that appears out of nowhere as you walk along the main street. The ambience is the main seller of this eatery as well as the extremely friendly staff around.
We ordered the Burrito, 15th egg and another breakfast dish. All three were well ornamented and looked delicious. It looked a bit of the fine dining style. The taste was just right and we’ve learnt a new way to bake kale and sprinkle with salt.
The coffee was fresh and refreshing. The hot chocolate was also equally delicious.
Really enjoyed the unique laneway dining experience here and would recommend anyone to try it.
Rustic little tapas restaurant. The food is very nice and the service is spectacular. We had the beef brisket tacos, El Gordo toastie, and chorizo roll. Definitely recommend going here. The brisket tacos and the chorizo on the baguette were awesome.
One of the best huevo ranchero I have ever had. Great service and atmosphere. Great people, very welcoming and friendly.
It was my first time visiting Bendigo, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to dine at! Although I arrived a little late in the afternoon, the staff were very understanding and still went to serve me.
Great food!
A friend of mine ordered the Sangria and loveeeed it!
Will definitely visit again!
It’s a really unique and cool alley, very chill, and beautiful. They were really busy, but still make a good coffee
A wonderful delight of a laneway coffee shop. With an interesting Spanish influence menu and great coffee. Service is friendly and welcoming. If only it opened before 8am.
We visited Bendigo today and chose this restaurant for lunch. We did not expect the food to be so delicious! Every single dish was delicately made, it was the quality of fine dining restaurants in Sydney (do better Sydney). Service was superb, all staff members were ultra friendly. I don’t know if I will ever have the chance to visit bendigo again (long drive from Sydney) but if I do come back I want to try every dish on the menu! We ended up buying a lot of canned sardines as they are delicious!
Great breakfast foods and excellent coffee. Great location, reminiscent of the typical Melbourne alleyways. Great crew too, we were welcomes and given great advice by the staff, they were very helpful. We would come back here. In fact we came back to grab a coffee for the road.
Great coffee - especially for soy drinkers. Excellent gf spice. Friendly staff who enjoy their work. I’d love to spend more time here…but leaving town. Just do it!
Very attentive staff, great laneway experience for our first trip to Bendigo. Food was fast and fresh, was tempted to sit there the whole day!
I hadn't been to Bendigo since before the lockdowns. But I knew where to go for a quick bite. The staff were as friendly as I remember and the breakfast burrito I had hit the spot.
Not every latte with a lid on is called ‘Flat white’. Great place, great customer service but extremely poor ‘ Flat white’ and simply overpriced. Ruined my day.
Rated 2 based on the lovely customer service from the two ladies waiting on our table. The food however, very underwhelming. Well and truly overpriced for size of servings and no flavour to any of the tapas dishes we had. Most disappointing was the 6 rubbery, tasteless prawns for $30 - all the flavour was on the head and shells and not in the meat. If you enjoy bread then this dish is for you as you can mop up the plate to get a taste of how the prawns should be. $120 not well spent unfortunately.
Place was really friendly and staff know their menu. Fast and efficient, simple, clean and fresh food.
Nothing like tinned food at a restaurant! Whilst the service was fantastic, the tapas was very elementary. What appeared to be some store brought sourdough, served up with tinned octopus and a few pickled vegetables.
Great place for brunch! Cosy environment. Good food. Friendly staff. Chorizo a la sidra is a must try!
Lovely friendly staff, great food & the best margaritas - thank you for your wonderful hospitality - el gordo was a fun highlight of our weekend in bendigo! Xx
I was seated near the kitchen drinks were great BUT! That’s were it ended watching people cook meals is a great experience but when the the female chef is caught swearing and putting down the junior male it’s quite off putting and to then go to other staff and start sooking about how he’s not doing well enough is honestly revolting and needs to be fixed swearing at him isn’t gonna make things easier it isn’t gonna help him learn he looked so sad and that’s work is the last thing he wants to do and that’s never fair RESPECT IS THE BEST ANSWER -
