Dosa Cafe Hawthorn reviews
69Open n close as they like …. So dont go unless u call n some says YES open n serving basic food for topper dollah NAH
Most ridiculous service I have ever came across. I ordered a take away today around 8pm and I ordered more than 5 items, definitely more than $60 but when I went there at 9pm after an hour to pick up. They said they didn’t received any such order only and they were soo negligent in handling the situation itself (Felt like they realised they missed but were not even ready to accept the fact) I even called the same number where I ordered in front of them but nope nothing said and done.
There is literally no difference in taste between mysore masala dosa and masala dosa. The crepes taste like rubber, So save yourself some money. Actually, save yourself some money by not buying at all! The sambar portions are laughable as they put it in the smallest container ever, same ones they use for chutneys. Stingy as ****
Pretty good place to come for a filling & affordable lunch!
Ordered the masala dosa combo, solid portions and great value. Dosa was decent but a bit too thick.and the stuffing was also pretty good but lacked that masala flavour. Idli was too dry and dense but the vada was great. The dipping chutneys and Sambar was good but not great, too watered down. Also ordered samosas and they were actually pretty good!
Sorry for the messy photo, only remembered to take it towards the end of the meal!
Pretty nice - masala dosa filling a little dry, the dosa itself nice crispy texture but needed more fermentation. Otherwise very nice
Tried noodles today…no man not good.in chicken noodles I literally searched for chicken and taste was avg.need to improve a lot.
The dosa is absolutely delicious I always get the cheese masala dosa, I love it. Best Dosa around the inner city for sure. Customer service is always top notch, if you want good quality and affordable Indian food Dosa cafe is the place to be at.
Best Biryani in the town, veg or non-veg. Moreover, been consistent for years we have been eating there, and last but not the least great service. Definitely recommended.
Great food but they are never open. You MUST call before going to speak to someone. VERY high chance that they just randomly close for an entire day or 5 hours early just for fun.
Some good plates like the chicken 65. The dosa was good but had the same problem as 90% of places in Melbourne - the dosa was a little inconsistent in their thickness with some being too thick and doughy, and the rasam and chutney were watered down.
Consistently good and authentic tasting Indian food. Plain dosa is especially good - super tasty and great value for money.
One of the best biryani i had with my family after long time, been to many places but this place specifically for hyderabadi dum biryani is my future destination! Good work chef! Nice staff
Best dosa, manchurian, fried rice and noodles.
Great ambience.
Going there for more than 4 years once every fortnight and always found very polite staff and consistently great food.
Food was so good but bit expensive compared to other Indian restaurants.
Service was excellent too.
Food is very good, tasty, and fresh. Monica especially provides an amazing service. Although the prices are slightly more expensive compared to other restaurants but it’s definitely worth going once in a while.
Great food (dosa, biryani, curries), but the quiet vibe and absent services often seem to null the appetite. Sometimes the service is okay. Yeah, it’s okay.
I went there during lockdown period. Believe me this is one of the rarest places who can make dosas that are amazing even after being packed un aluminum foil. They have amazing variety and perfectly catered quality. Would surely visit this place when lockdown opens up.
Ordered through doordash yesterday night. Spent around $35. Dosas were old and tasteless. Wada was old and dry. Wouldnt order again!
If you like Chilli rice, this is the best place to eat. I have ordered biriyani.basically mixed rice little bit of onion fried with plenty of Chilli Powder dust. Make sure you check their food clean and fresh when giving this children They using cured rotten meat kept in fridge for ages.be-aware of some Resturant in melbourne.like very doggie.no business ethics for customer. I became sick for about month. I don’t know what the heck they putting it on biriyani.hardly felt biriyani taste.their Dosa may ok but be aware of their spices curries left fresh for ages.not fresh at all
Not terrible, but not great. The Dosa's where good but the cheese Naan and Palak Paneer were not good at all. Tasted like they were reheated with very minimal flavor. We won't be ordering here again.
