Din Tai Fung

I went to the Melbourne Din Tai Fung with friends for my birthday as I had been to the flagship original Michelin star branch in Taiwan earlier in the year and it blew me away, so I was hoping to share that with my friends. I was not disappointed. The dumplings were as divine as they were overseas, and I could honestly not tell the difference. Xiao long bao at its finest. Bursting with flavour and wrapping so thing it was translucent and you could see everything inside. The prawn soup dumplings (the ones like xiao long bao but the have a brawn on top so they are like a bow shape) are the yummiest and are heavenly. The Melbourne branch has different sides to the Taiwan one, and I actually liked the Melbourne sides better. The beans were absolutely delicious, I have no idea what type of oil or dressing they put on them but they are YUM. Also their honey pepper beef melts in the mouth and is divine. Be aware that it's worth going first thing at 11am or you may be waiting a long time to get in. Overall, this is the fine dining experience for dumplings that won't disappoint.
