Da Guido La Pasta Melbourne reviews
69What can I say, as an Italian from Italy, this is the first real 100% authentic Italian food, the restaurant is nice and welcoming, it gives you the vibes of the Italian restaurant in Italy, in here you can smell professionalism and passion especially from Mirko, the owner who took care of us, he’s brilliant and with his experience the quality of the service goes over the top! The food is another 5 stars, simply incredible, right portions and price, about the wine, the wine list speak for it self but if you have any doubt don’t worry cause Mirko will be there to help you! Highly recommended!
An honest review, the service and atmosphere was good however we were disappointed by a few aspects of our experience.
The tables were very cramped and there were only a couple of staff working so we had to wait a while to order food.
The starter was excellent and we were impressed by the freshness & quality. Our mains, the carbonara was yummy but not as good as expected with the pasta being undercooked, lots of fat on the bacon and small serving size. Additionally, the cost of the meal felt rather pricey and did not feel reflective of the quality of the food.
Overall pleasant experience but hoped for more.
Highly recommend - food and service here is exceptional. We went here last night for our anniversary. The food was fantastic and our waiter had great recommendations for dishes and wine. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and we sat on the balcony which is a lovely spot on a nice night. To top off the night, when our dessert came out the waiter had organised for the plate to read ‘Happy anniversary’.
The food was amazing, customer service was possibly the best I ever had and the atmosphere was astounding! I have nothing bad to say about this place at all and I felt very comfortable the entire meal! If you are willing to go towards the city for some Italian food then you must try this place!
General consensus amongst the group was bland pasta and quite small portions, expected more at the pricepoint of menu and the general standard of Italian on Lygon St. Cheese boards had limited selection on offer and hardly a sharing serve. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating and a nice intimate vibe and atmosphere which we appreciate so some positive in the experience but otherwise wouldn't return, there is much nicer on offer elsewhere in Carlton.
Highly recommended! I found this place on Google and we decided to have a last minutes bookings on a Thursday night! The experience was exceptional, we had a 3 course menu and all of them was amazing. The service was really good… I think this would be one of the restaurants that have the best service
Definitely gonna go back!
We had a fantastic meal at Da Guido La Pasta. The food was excellent, service was fantastic and a lovely family atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Great place, very friendly staff. I love pasta very much and the flavors blend together perfectly here. I will definitely return
Food was good for the price, portions were on the small side and charging for cold bread and charging separately for a small dish of oil or butter strikes me as pretty stingy. Is it normal for higher end restaraunts to charge for bread?
We rocked in late and were greeted with wonderful, friendly and professional service, delicious food (bruschetta, pasta and dessert), and didn't feel hurried in the slightest despite being the last table left. Decor is delightful, too. I'll be bringing my mum here.
We went to Da Guido as a family last night and 'wow'. It's a beautiful italian restaurant at the city end of Lygon St and the food and staff were amazing. 2 great pasta dishes, a caprese salad which took us back to the local markets of Italy and a risotto, not on the menu, and made just for me by the chef. Customer service like this is a rarity in this post-covid world where often hospitality staff appear to either 'not care' or appear 'arrogant' and at Da Guido, Mirko and his team really care. I definitely recommend you go here and experience great food and great service in a lovely setting.
Great place, friendly staff. Food great, just wanted more
Very helpful when I asked for a particular recipe
Wanted to eat here but the waitresses totally ignored me and my partner after making eye contact multiple times. Who knew preparing a table was a 2 man job
A wonderful surprise. Great service, great food and a really stylish restaurant. Can’t wait to go back and try another of their meals.
The team are attentive and warm without being overbearing or dramatic, and their knowledge is excellent. My gnocchi was probably the best I’ve had - they make their own, of course - and my companions had the squid ink pasta and a venison pasta dish which they really liked. I could have eaten the bruschetta all night. Another time I will try the tiramisu, but the almond tart was delicious. I recommend it.
Food was amazing. Ordered the charcuterie and Spaghetti con le cozze and both was delicious. Service was also great!
Slow service, waiter seemed to have no idea what was going on. Waitress was lovely and attentive. Our mains were forgotten, waited an hour for them. All meals were served bland with no flavour. Cocktails served in tiny glasses
I don't live in Melbourne but I'd move just for this restaurant. They give you complimentary bread which I'm pretty sure is house made. Need I say more? The waiters and waitresses are lovely and charming. Fillipo was a gem to my mum and I. The menu is diverse and traditional. Love love love. Definitely will be my first stop next time I go back to Melbourne
These were so delicious.
I definitely will be back for Tagliolini al nero di Seppia. And staff was also lovely.
I’m sure their food is great but service is terrible. My partner and I booked a table for dinner, when we arrived they were busy and left us standing at the counter. We tried to speak with some one and he held his hand up to my face and said sorry we’re busy. We decided to leave after that.
