Cumberland Lorne Resort

Have been staying here for 20 years plus and have always booked an Ocean view room right at the front looking at the beach. BEWARE! They have just changed their terminology and now Ocean view means an apartment at the back that has a glimpse of parts of the ocean plus a view roof of the blocks at the front. Even the photos on my booking do not match the apartment which shows full ocean views. I’m not sure if the management has changed but the staff were not the usual guys and could not care less! This picture is apparently an ocean view room. Very disappointed Cumberland especially for $2000 for 3 nights.

We have stayed here many times over the years. This time we managed to get into a newly renovated room. It is well upgraded and seems more beachy now.

Rooms are VERY tired.need TLC! I stayed here over 20 years ago. Think minimal maintenance been done in the interim. They are, however, spotlessly clean.

I am an owner of a travel agency and deal with lots of properties. The staff at this property were INCREDIBLE!
My clients had a fantastic time, said the rooms were in a great location, very clean and also mentioned how fantastic the staff are. Very impressive!

We are so impressed with the service we have received both on previous stays and on this current stay. Heath in reception has been just wonderful, his customer service is flawless and nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are clean and well appointed with clean linnen, comfy beds and plenty of fresh air. We are on the 3rd floor with an unobstructed view of the ocean. We have the kids with us this time 4,5 and 13 yrs old. There is ample room for them to spead out and the spa bath has been a big hit. Spent some time in the resort pool and spa today, really clean and just big enough to be comfortable. Easy walking distance to the beach, shops, cafes and pub. Thankyou for making our getaway so easy and restful.:)

Very well located and plenty of amenities to keep us occupied. Lorne is a beautiful place to visit.

Highly recommend the Cumberland resort! Location is perfect! Free underground parking was fantastic and we didn’t need the car for the 3 nights as everything is within walking distance, Shops/restaurants/cafes and the beach was across the road.

Cannot speak highly enough of the staff at the resort! Every staff member we came across was genuinely happy to help and no request was too difficult or a bother to them which is very rare these days!

Rooms are very spacious and clean - we had a 2 bedroom apartment. Free internet, full size amenities in bathroom’s which was perfect especially when staying a few nights! We had our own with us as we always take bring them but didn’t need to open/use.

Games room, bbq facilities, indoor pool/spa and baby pool. We went down for a bbq and forgot to bring tongs and were surprised to find they had tong stands and paper towels provided.

This resort has definitely thought about every detail and that’s what makes it stand out from others!

We can’t wait to be back there soon!

Had our overnight stay here. The hotel is located near the beach, shops and restaurants so it's very convenient. It has a game room (wasn't able to try it but will do next time), heated pools that are kid-friendly, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. Great amenities which are good if you want to do some activities in the hotel.

Apartment rooms are spacious enough and good for families. Staff are very friendly and provided excellent service so overall we enjoyed our stay here and will definitely recommend to everyone.

Our stay today never eventuated due to a punctured tyre early on our way so we slowly headed back home (tyre repairers, how about working on Sundays!).

I never thought twice to call the hotel (and yes, i ignored my wife's insistence!) thinking the booking is gone and nothing can be done about it.
Then later in the night i get a call from the hotel asking if we are coming. I explained the situation after which to my greatest and most pleasant surprise they told me to call Expedia to cancel the booking and they'd approve it!

They didn't have to do this, but they did it anyway. For this they will always be my first option when traveling to Lorne (plus we've stayed here once already and can confirm it really is fantastic!).

Excellent location and value for money.
The Cumberland Lorne Resort is located at the heart of Lorne close to the beach. Great space for the apartment, self contained kitchen and a bathroom with a spa.
There is an indoor pool at the resort and if you need to have a bite a variety of restaurants are located in the main Street below.

Highly recommended.

A great location and very helpful staff, but the resort is starting to get a little dated. Such a beautiful location with a great outlook, but minor things like cobwebs high up the walls / ceilings, rotten wood on the balcony, holes in flywire screens and electrical problems (to name a few) bring it down. Time for a major refurb, especially at the price charged for an off-season booking. Also, what is it with the tree pruned back to a tall pole? Strange! But still a beautiful location and we enjoyed the stay immensely, hence the overall rating

Love the Cumberland, however was disappointed that the disabled toilet near the pool had no grab rail and was not at all functional.

Great location with amazing views from the Casino building, the apartments are specious and in high hygiene which is the most important part of each stay. My friend and I visited for first time, but definitely we will get back for more and longer stay.

Rooms are getting very tied and require a refurbishment
With the property charging top tariff the property should have a TV that operates correctly. No electric blankets on bed in middle of winter
With the property having an indoor pool robes should be provided in the suite for the client to access the pool area
Generally the rooms require updating

Not great. While staying we payed top dollar and wanted a warm shower while the temperature outside was cool, however, the water did not get warm even with it on the highest setting. This is ok for if you were paying less money a night but you are not. When wanting a few ice cubes after filling up the ice tray and leaving it in the freezer overnight, we were disappointed to find the ice was still water, just cold. We stay here every year and this has never happened before, please take care out there.

Excellent accommodation, high standard. Has everything that you need for a restful break. Great location close to beach and shops.

The location and water view are amazing.
However everything is run down and looks tired.
They should be updated.

Overpriced, dirty rooms, very out dated and ugly rooms.not worth what we paid at all.there were spiders everywhere.we ended up leaving early and forfeiting our prepaid nights because it was so unbearable.

Every year this is our go to dinner on the Friday night we arrive. Best pizzas ever.

Best place for holidays and honeymoon. Missing this place since I came back. Can't wait for next holidays to stay again. Best services. Highly recommend.
