Fantastic value, nutritious food. The Krishnas spend a lot of time and money feeding the poor and homeless, good to support them.

I’ve loved eating at Crossways since I was a kid in the 90s. It’s wholesome, always tasty and great value - you don’t need to be a vegetarian to enjoy the food here!

Always a favourite of mine, crossways offers a humble, friendly and warm atmosphere with beautiful indian (?) cuisine. The staff are always lovely and the meals are always satisfying and enjoyable. The menu serves one meal at lunch and dinner, the same plate and dessert for every order. These meals rotate on a specials board which is visible outside and inside. Not only are the meals delicious, they are also very affordable, and also vegetarian.
I would very highly recommend crossways to anyone.

$6.95 for students, everyday's menu is different, curry rice, dessert and drink, cheap india vegetarian restaurant. Upstair 2nd floor is good place for eat alone.

Good Vegan Food and affordable price. Best part is that food is made by volunteers, served by volunteers and everyone working there is doing the service as volenteer. Best part is the Sweet dish called Haluwa. Very tasty. Lassi can be made as buttermilk as it is very watery.

Cheap and good vegetarian food! All you can eat too, although their one plate is usually enough. $8.95 to eat, cheaper for students!

This is a no-frills Hare Krishna run vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne, on Swanston Street, directly opposite the Town Hall. It's similar to Gopals just with less options. Basically, it serves a set lunch and dinner menu, with a different meal each day of the week (Moday to Saturday). For example, Monday lunch is Satay Vegetables with Basmati Rice and Raisin Halava & Custard dessert. Monday's dinner is Chickpea with Vegetables in Pumpkin Sauce served with Cous Cous and Apple Crumble for dessert.

The daily menu consists of two courses along with a cordial or lassie. The best part is that it's an all-you-can-eat! It's also both eat-in or take away.

Crossways is not a fancy place. It's a no-frills restaurant serving inexpensive ($8.95 or $6.95 for concession with a small surcharge for take away) yet delicious meals that are like home cooked. We've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The service is very friendly and the staff very courteous and most helpful.

Nothing fancy but that's the point! The food is delicious and as much as you can eat, the process is simple, the staff are super friendly, and it feels like a community dining hall in India. For a big, good quality, affordable meal this is a great choice.

Poor service, arrogant and negligent staff. Bad value for money.
Had to wait for 10 minutes just to get a round of Naan.
They say have as many Naans you want but they make you wait so long that you get embarrassed as if you were a homeless freak waiting for something for free when in reality you have paid the price.

Even after the recent price increase (standard meal now is $8.95), it's still great value, all you can eat vegan meal, vegetarian or vegan dessert plus drinks. I don't like the food on Tuesdays though, the brown rice is a bit bitter for my taste.

Always Good! A pocket of India, one might say, with Nice Vegetable Curries and Yoghurt Lassa Drink with pudding dessert coated in custard! Very affordable as well for travelers and battlers! The arrangement of Book Literature allows one also to investigate the Krishna Religion at leisure while one is eating. It's a great opportunity for freelance study in comparative religions, if one has that interest in Looking Towards The East!

Always budget friendly and I always leave full. If you visit crossways 6 days a week you might only get disappointed once either by one of the attendants or the food itself but generally a pretty decent meal place. I love their desserts, the papadum, their rice on Fridays esp and pretty much most of their food.
PS. Still a regular customer ;)

Really cheap delicious vegan/vegetarian food. Standard is always high and very filling. Gets busy during lunch so if you're not keen on queuing go outside of lunch hours.

There was some nice meat on the waitress. The steak was pretty nice too. They do this thing were they get lamb, steak and pork, put it in a blender with some milk and some other "secret ingredients". The result is what they call a meatshake. Its God damn amazing.

Growing up in a traditional family in Southern Part of India, food like this was always part of my life. The very first time when I visited the restaurant with my friends, they were more excited than I was. The very first thing you need to notice is that this place is more like an ootupura (dining hall) at a temple. There are certain believes and values this place withhold and the patrons are expected to keep up with that. A strict no to the Non-vegetarian food. The ambiance is just average, the staff are incredibly courteous and kind, the pricing is amazing considering you get to have as much rice and curry as you need.

Looking at the food, the taste is average. Of course, it is of homecooked quality and one of the best vegan options in the city. I know vegetarians who are concerned to eat from outside (it is an obvious fact that the vegetarians would never prefer a spoon/utensils used by non-vegetarians). This place is a great option for such people. The students get a discount by showing the student ID. For me, the best part of the meal was dessert. The Lassi they serve is, well I can't call it as Lassi. It was very watery and I had to stop it at the first sip. I know this review may attract some negative comments but, this is my personal opinion. Overall, if you ever miss your home and craving for some Indian food at an affordable price then just give them a try.
PS: You also get to ring a bell once you are done with the meal.

Very neat & tidy place, has fixed menu (no ala-carte). Probably the best vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the heart of the city. Loved the wonderful food, desserts are just brilliant! Would recommend it any day to anyone hunting for healthy veg food.

Delicious.
This is a quiet, calm place to enjoy lunch and really end up feeling like you have eaten something. The food is extraordinary, and the all-you-can-eat policy is just the icing on the cake. Beautiful, totally recommend.

Pricing is higher now. However the same large portion of quality vegetarian food. Loved it! Throw in the chili flakes and pickles if you find the food bland.

Nice Indian vegetarian food. Just the dessert a bit too sweet. Sometime can get 50 percents discount in Groupon
