Common Room Co reviews
66 One of the BEST hotcakes I’ve ever had
FOOD: I ordered the Ricotta Hotcakes and they were amazing! Common Room were not shy with their toppings and it was truly so special from regular toppings on hotcakes! They have it all from tart to nutty to even a little salty from the salted butterscotch! The meringue was absolute perfection and was actual meringue which I appreciated ️ The hotcakes themselves were an amazing texture because they were a little crispy on the outside but an incredibly fluffy texture on the inside. The fruits were also not skimpy at all and it was definitely worth every penny! One of the BEST hotcakes I’ve had in Melbourne
SERVICE: Incredibly pleasant! They were really friendly and more than happy to serve you! They were also really attentive and efficient!
Overall, Common Room should be more common on everyone’s list because it is truly a phenomenal cafe!
I love this place. Coffee is great and food is amazing. I'm working thru the brunch menu at the moment and everything is as good as the other. Service is on point and they are very attentative. I strongly recommend this place!
Uncommonly fantastic. Attentive staff, fabulously presented and delicious food, and $12 bloody marys. Plus the bacon is streaky! All you need to kick start your Saturday. Will definitely be back
Food and staff great, its a bit noisy as always packed - the food is more high brow but definitely worth a visit
Frequent visitor to this place. Staff, food, vibe, location.all on point. I live 25mins away, however will drive for the menu.
Great coffee and people. However, now they are getting busier due to spring they need to add more staff. Should not have to spend 15 mins trying to get attention to order a coffee in the morning.
This place is fantastic! Food, service and atmosphere were all A+. It was busy but the service was quick, friendly and helpful, unlike a lot of other places these days where the staff can be almost too cool to bring water/cutlery/take your order. Our waitress was great. The food was delicious and unique. Highly recommend the chicken burger and the chips. Also did I mention there’s a dog menu? Our dog gives it 5/5 paws
How times change! A hipster cafe in Caulfield North! Kale comes three ways: wilted, baby or massaged. And quinoa abounds. And yes! There is smashed avocado. The food is very pretty. A hot chocolate comes in a mug with a skewer of three toasted marshmallows. Very Instagrammable. And I asked for extra strong, which can often also mean extra sweet and here it didn't. Big upvote for that. The porridge is fully decorated with such things as slices of dried apple and pear, artistically distributed, but for me the addition of quinoa to porridge isn't a benefit. It takes away from the glorious glutinous sweetness of the oats. The coffee is clearly standout (I don't drink coffee so can't comment personally) because the entire time I was there a constant procession pouring through the door for takeaway. There are plenty of other take away coffee options around here, so this says a lot. The brunch menu is heavily eggy. Again, not my thing so I had limited options. But the menu changes every month, so maybe next month there were be more non-egg options and a porridge with no quinoa! Have to also comment that the service was rather inattentive. Again, benefit of the doubt: they were flat out busy on a cold Saturday morning and they haven't been open that long. Could just be teething problems? Will I go back? Probably, but not until next month. Unless I want a blast of hot choc with marshmallows.
Just stopped here in passing and grabbed an exceptional coffee. Service friendly too. Will be back soon to try the Tivoli road pastries and brekky options!
Amazing food, amazing service, plenty of space both inside & outside. Definately recommendable!
Best food and coffee in Melbourne. Me and my partners new local and we are there every weekend. Amazing staff and friendly.
Breakfast of ricotta pancakes with scrumptious fillings was unbelievable. The service was impeccable and served with a smile. Highly recomend this place.
Great coffee, service, ambience and the food was fantastic, especially the ricotta hotcakes with the torched meringue and fresh fruit and the slow cooked benny with the grilled pickled onions and spicy relish, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly, we will definitely will be back!
The latest addition to the Orrong Road - Alma Road neighbourhood will have a long life if it keeps up the quality and variety it opens with. Excellent coffee is a must. And they deliver. Sourdough bread is better than average and offering streaky bacon is a twist that hits the spot.
I love to support local cafes especially new cafes
Terrible service and attitude
I asked for a side on its own and was told that they can not do that and very cafes few would do just a side. Well wrong! Just now had a side of Haloumi at another local cafe the owner most obliging only too happy to serve me a small side from the menu.
Had to go looking for more water staff not at all attentive
Good luck you’ve lost me plenty of amazing cafes
I will not be back

We visited the recently opened Common Room Co cafe in Caulfield North and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. You can expect great coffee, a menu full of brunch classics with a delicious twist and service that comes with a smile.
Beautiful new venue in a new development complex.
The menu is very interesting and the coffee is great!
Always busy and buzzing, definitely a place to be if you are in the area.
This new café in Caulfield is so cool! I love the décor, artwork and layout of the place. The team is super friendly and the menu is pretty cool.
I tried an Oat Mylk flat white which was delicious. I was really happy to see many vegan options on the menu. We tried the Mushroom Medley and the Smashed Avo, which were both served with amazing cashew feta. The flavours of the dishes were beautiful.
Definitely a great place to catch up for brunch or coffee. It feels nice and cosy inside but it is also nice and light due to the many windows. Would definitely recommend!
Had an amazing breakfast here (french toast with pink dust). Not cheap but very reasonably priced for the quality of food.
Will definitely return.
The service is excellent. Very attentive but not annoying. Very good food selection. Strongly recommend the pulled pork Benedict and the fruit toast with passionfruit curd.
