Coconut Lagoon Indian Restaurant reviews
57 Food arrives only after 1 hour of waiting post ordering. Pre-eat before coming here to eat! Lol
Guess they're just lazy to keep up customer satisfaction.
Unfortunately bad service. Ordered chicken dish and beef which was good, however paratha was cold. Service was very poor even after the food arrived didn't serve the water.and seems to forget the initial order!
Amazing Authentic food. My family and I have been to Coconut Lagoon since2019. It has lively atmosphere with lovely food. The service is great. Onam Sandhya food was exceptional. One of the best Indian Restaurants in Melbourne. Well done Manoj and Team!
We visited Coconut Lagoon on 26/08/23 for their Onam Sadhya. Great food and excellent service. We were impressed with how generous and willing their staff were.
Onam Sadhya - personally a bit expensive for what you get. Papadum was a bit soggy by the time it arrived. Had to call the waiters for more food. The experience would be much better if it was more organised, however I understand how difficult it is to achieve this in a workplace!
Onam Sadya was very fulfilling! The service was hospitable and the staff were attentive. Highly recommend and will return.
I would leave zero stars if I could. The food is ordinary for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to authentic Kerala cuisine.
Waited 2 hours for 4 parotta and a chicken briyani. Initially advised about 45 mins wait but we waited for 2 hours! No courtesy to advise back to the customers about the delay.
Skewer version of kerala food. Had a christmas buffet disaster here.the last straw whilst spending christmas away from home. The appam was hard it could be used to cut diamond! And basmati rice with moru kachiyathe! Whoever thought that would work.every dish was a disaster except idli sambar (nothing christmasy abt it though). And fish curry was mostly slimy skin pieces floating in some weird gravy.and calling it kottayam style fish curry.i better stop listing it all out
I visited this place forst time with high craving for kerala taste. They asked for booking before reaching, we did. On arrival we were told they have serving wait of around 40mins, we still stayed and waited. About an hour later, when asked for an update in kitchen, we were rudely told, it will take atleast 15 more mins, do u want to proceed. You lost me there as customer, never going back
Oh the food, served food was good in taste, but their dishes are customized. Chicken starter tasted too much coconut oil and was deeeeep fried. Egg curry and kadai chicken was good in taste, but kadai kitchen appeared as veggies tossed with kitchen in masala. Kerala paratha was really yum
Authentic Kerala food, buffet is the best value if you want to try multiple dishes - too bad they don't do the buffet on more days of the week.
The staff is really good. The food is authentic Kerala food and helps malayalees like me survive away from home.:)
Excellent cuisine from the Corellah region in India. The menu was delicious and well priced. We'll be back.
Not that great experience. I and my wife had a beef dry fry, some Kerala porotta, 2 samosas and a lime soda. Lime soda and Kerala porotta is great and very tasty.
But samosa felt like it’s frozen and tasted very much similar to Haldiram frozen samosas. Beef was very big pieces, did not taste nice at all.
Why I gave one is for the boy at the restaurant- very hard working and respectful- keep up the good work.
Chef- bit rude to the waiter boy, I did not thing that was great and needed at that time.
Quality has dropped off over the years. Like most Indian restaurants food now, many dishes have bland flavours, not really worth the $$ for basic/cheap food preparation. Maybe some south Indian dishes it's fresher, but it's a nice expensive and slow waiting gamble. Often it's very empty in the shop, so there is no proper chef maybe, unless its Kerala festival time. Ive been better off going to the nearby Mexican restaurants which have far more flavour, spice, freshness.
We made a bulk Onam Sadhya order for graduate students from different countries which everybody loved and gave them a feel and taste of the South Indian festival and culture (love for food and how it brings everyone together to have a good time)!
Although a bit on the expensive side, especially for a student, I feel this place was the closest to getting some good yummy authentic Kerala food in Melbourne! Looking forward to try out other dishes from here in the future!
100% authentic kerala food. Loved the food. Especially the pepper chicken is a definite no miss. There is a long wait. But totally worth it as they make everything fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have genuine desire to feed quality food to customers.
I went there with a friend and the food was great. Both of really enjoyed the food and great service. Looking to our next meal
The food is made fresh and it's delicious! Such a gem in the area. The spicy fried lamb is the best! Will definitely revisit!
The food was amazing, it was from scratch and it was so worth it! The waiting time was a bit long 40 minutes. But worth the wait! The guy who served us, was very friendly at the same time professional.
