Cobblers of South Yarra

A bit disappointed. Quite slow and very expensive.

Brought in two pairs of boots, one to get resoled and patched, and another to get reheeled. I was charged over two hundred for this, which seems a bit steep. It also took a long time, and he wasn’t even finished when I came back a week later to pick them up - he had to stitch the patch on while I waited. The stitching on the patches is done in a colour that doesn’t really match the leather and the patch looks obviously thick with glue on the outside of the shoe.

The resoling seems well done however, and the heel cap is fine, although I can still see the base plastic beneath the leather he was supposed to be replacing. Probably won’t be returning here, but I think it’s a fine place to get a resole or recap of a stiletto.

Just had my shoes fixed here and they are amazing, I couldn’t recommend A better service in Melbourne, Eugene was fantastic!

Eugene is an amazing cobbler. He replaced the soles of my RM Williams. Super impressed in his workmanship. Shoes look like new again. Highly recommend.

Rudest man ever! I went in to return shoe laces I bought for my daughter that were too small, in their original packaging, unused. He initially agreed to refund me but he couldn’t work out how to refund my card on the EFTPOS machine. He then started getting angry and saying he wouldn’t refund me, I asked for cash he didn’t have any. So I asked for another pair, he gave me whatever, would let me choose, and kicked me out of the shop in such a rude, aggressive and intimidating way. Absolutely shocking way of treating customers!

Now to your response:
There were no issues when I came in to buy the laces with my daughter, it’s when I came back the return them you treated me aggressively. A simple request for a refund on shoes laces (which are not gold thread as you seem to think) that were too short, is very reasonable and fair.
I’ll tell you what isn’t fair, being treated in such a misogynistic way, aggressively and having to fear for my own security. You were twice my size, walked round the counter towards me in a very menacing and intimidating manner.
I will make sure to share my experience with others.

I asked for a full sole replacement & was presented with a half sole. When I questioned this he threw me out of the shop. What a waist of $200. Very disappointed.

Look at the replies given to customers that give negative reviews. Eugene does not learn, and does not accept fair commentary. Poor service. Not professional.

I have been taking my shoes to Eugene for many years. He's always happy, professional and does a fantastic job. I recently had my soles replaced on a pair of suit shoes and could not be happier. Just a fantastic job. Highly recommended!

Being new in town, had to search for a near by cobbler and found this place. I brough in two pair of heels and 1 pair of sandals last Friday, got them back yesterday Monday. Not only was it a quick 'turn-around' but the quality was great, the propriertor was extremely courtious and responsive, and the service affordable. Coming from New York City, where everything cost an 'arm and a leg', this was by far my best experience with a cobbler. Again, thank you so much. Will continue to use your service.

Anyone who has problems fitting shoes because of bunions will know the discomfort that you can have.
Eugene worked very hard to find a way to stretch my shoes for a bunion in a difficult spot, and result is fantastic.

I've been coming to Cobblers of South Yarra for six years now for my bosses who own a collection of high end fashion shoes like Dior, Prada Gucci and the like. The quality of workmanship we are used to from Cobblers of South Yarra has, in my experience, always been of the highest standard. They are prompt, friendly and reasonably priced. We have presented them with some difficult problems and these cobblers have provided very creative solutions for us and greatly extended the life of some favourite shoes.
I happily recommend them to my friends and family as well.

Nothing is too much trouble for Eugene. His workmanship is first class and he's a great guy to deal with as well.

Excellent customer service and impeccable attention to detail.

Whether it's replacing a heal or fix the tips of my boots, the repairs always look great and it's to have a friendly local cobbler in the neighbourhood.

First of all I respect the fact you have been a long established business.
However that doesn’t excuse for the poor workmanship by you as a professional cobbler.
The repair work was shabby with the stitching coming apart days after shoes were collected.

Your follow up service after I complained
needs urgent attention as you seem to lack the understanding that customers don’t complain for the fun of it. Telling me how long you’ve been in business doesn’t justify or excuse the poor craftsmanship.

I would prefer no follow up feedback as I notice with all your negative reviews you dont take them as an opportunity to learn rather you attack the feedback.

Bad workmanship, plus expensive. Wouldn't recommend and won't go back. PS read his response to the negative feedback below to get an idea of what you're in for!
