Classic Cinemas

Large comfy seats. Relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly its a great supporter of film festivals with much more engaging content than what you get from Hollywood.

Local cinema with a lot of heart. Classic theatre is in a great location next to Elsternwick station with plenty of parking and public transport options. The movie selection is fairly similar to the larger chains but with a point of difference in showing smaller lesser known films frequently. The actual cinemas are great with excellent sound and comfortable seats. Ticket prices are good (can even get a discount with my RRR subscription). Only problem are the prices at the candy bar, a tad expensive (understandable in the industry), not exorbitant though. It's always a joy coming to these cinemas.

The seats are absolutely pathetic, literally the one I was sitting on I think it had a stain on it when it had a hole in it. It's an absolute disgrace with how the performance is. The staff are very slow, and they don't keep their products close by they keep it at the back.
I'm absolutely appalled with the outcome!

Nicely renovated but wish they turn up the sound a notch. It wasn't only me who could barely hear the soundtrack of the movie.

One of the issues with most cinemas is 1) the food is trash and overpriced 2) the staff don't really care about their jobs. You can expect different treatment at the classic. From the responses of the staff they seem interested in their jobs or at least providing quality customer service (they're just generally really nice and able to make useful suggestions about movies you might be interested in) in terms of food, while the food is still a bit pricey (no more so than other cinemas) the actual quality of the food is much better. They'll have the standard popcorn etc but they'll have really great brands of snacks such as tyrells and chipman chips, some really great nougat, etc. As well as hot food they make there (e.g. Bao). If you're looking for a cinema that treats you like you're special, the classic is the cinema for you. Also added bonus, usually easier to get a seat bc it's usually not too busy so you can have a quieter session.
