City Wine Shop reviews
793 star because of the chili won ton and 2 star lost because of the usual bad and disgusting Chinese service.
Just love this wine bar, one of my city favourites. An incredible variety of wines, and a lovely menu. Always a nice crowd also.
Great little bar and wine shop in Spring St. Perfect for a quick coffee or a wine at the bar. Lovely interior and great selection of wines.
It used to be an excellent place for a quick meal and to try some interesting wines. Unfortunates it seems the staff have lost interest in tasting/describing/recommending the various wines. It felt more like a pub.
The schnitzel was disappointing this time too - it was dry and the sauce was burnt.
A beacon of civilization in the CBD for a small plate and a glass of wine or a full meal and a bottle at very good prices (retail plus 20 to have in the restaurant).
Always stop in here when in Melbourne
The polenta chips are a favourite in the family and hence it’s a point of call.
Nice to sit with a lovely drop and enjoy some delicious nibbles.
Staff are great and make you feel right at home.
For the beer drinkers there is a much smaller selection (it is the City WINE Shop) but the ones they have a generally good.
Wanted some bespoke gin that's hard to get in NZ or Aus. They found it - and delivered it on time and with a smile!
Card fees? ! You can't serve nice wine with $20 corkage fees AND act like a $10 dumpling place - decide what you want to be.
Love this place. Excellent selection of wines albeit a slightly high mark up on wines. Service is impeccable and staff have a great wine knowledge which I would expect. Definitely a great place for a catch up with friends or even a date. Had a light meal and food was terrific. Will re visit soon.
Rude, blunt staff offering limited description of wines on offer, taking plates away before they were empty, and pushing us to leave so they could fit the next customers in. Not impressed, won't return. Expect better service for a $14 glass of wine. Little Andorra on Nicholson St was a world of difference, very pleasant and enjoyable experience and would highly recommend.
If you wanna enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese or nibble on some food, enjoy your time and have fun with your friends? Then this is the place to be,
Gorgeous wines and professional services.
Always busy but you'll be seated shortly don't worry.
After spending nearly $500 for a birthday party, we were asked to leave to let smaller groups (and fresh $) in. Wine and service was good otherwise, but what a way to s*! T on a celebration. I'd never recommend to a friend or acquaintance.
Our server was great and so was the wine. HOWEVER after a group of us was there (spending several 100s) for a few hours, we were ASKED TO LEAVE. We were told it was because the group was too big (only bookings up to ten while we were eight), but really it seemed they wanted smaller groups that have a higher turnover (ie $$$). As a member of the services industry, I haven't felt so s#! Ty in a restaurant ever, like some riffraff rather than patrons.
Always amazing food and really great service. A firm favourite for lunch or dinner in my friendship group. Quantity of food can be small but it makes up for it in it's incredible quality. Staff have a great knowledge of the beer and wine on offer.
Cozy atmosphere with delicious food! Wine store with some spots to dine in. Very interesting place, high stools, communal table or outside tables, you can choose what fits better for you! Great variety of wine. You can choose one bottle from the store for a good price but you pay an extra to have it with dinner. The food menu is not extensive but everything I had was delicious!
This gem of a place has the best coffee, lovely staff and a wonderful atmosphere. It is a little touch of Euope in Spring St and is owned by the European which is right next door.
A taste of Melbourne, enjoy a couple of glasses from their extensive wine collection, polenta chips, schnitzel, & cheese platter!
Great staff, tasty treats, excellent selection and knowledge of wine. Quite small place with limited seating.
Appalling service for the price you pay. Ordered some toast which never came, even after 25 minutes. Asked waiter to cancel the order, but he seemed to take it very personally and said “we’re so busy right now it would take the same amount of time anywhere else”.
We weren’t unhappy it didn’t come, we just wanted to cancel the order so we could leave.
Never coming back.
