City Wine Shop reviews
79Staffs are really kind, they’re always ready to help to recommend a good wine if you need some help. Food’s amazing too! 10/10
Amazing selection of wines and all very affordable! Even bought a bottle to takeaway.
I got a table for one on a Friday evening as was travelling alone; it's a fantastic people watching spot.
Staff also very friendly.
Fantastic customer service, food is pricey but definitely worth the spend.
Had steak with the best salad I ever had from anywhere.
Will be coming back and would definitely recommend
Great wine list and incredible food but service is terrible, took 30 minutes for everything, including paying the bill.
Also they don’t us we could smoke cigarettes — don’t call your restaurant ‘the European’ then!
First rate! Charcuterie platter was very well done. Often I find good core ingredients contrasted against excessively acidic pickled items. This was a well flavored yet harmonious combination. List of by-the-glass wines was spot on. Importantly, the prices are reasonable and our experience with the bar staff was that they have a good appreciation of matching food and the wines on offer.
City wine shop is nextdoor to the European and close to Spring street grocer. Great spot to share a wine while gossiping about work with friends. Small menu but thoughtfully put together. It is a little expensive but it’s difficult to find a bad wine here. Walking inside you’ll be greeted with a wall of delicious wine. Service can be a little slow and limited seating when it’s raining. Parking is a bit tricky, best to catch the tram into the city.
Part of a series of Melbourne institutions - The European, Siglo and of course City Wine Shop. Always great service, brilliant wine offerings, so very tasty food and a terrific atmosphere. Perfect place for catching up with friends or that all important business meeting to seal the deal!
Nice wine selection, we only went to the bottlo and would like to go back and try the food. It was quite cozy
French bistro in bustling Spring st, great atmosphere and excellent food to back its reputation. Beef tartare and schnitzel were superb!
Kes was wonderful! Provide excellent service. Super friendly and welcoming and is very knowledgeable about wine.
Clearly the place to be at the top of Bourke St. Good food, drinks and service. Couldn't fault it.
After years of bringing up 2 children, being stuck in COVID, I finally launched into our new business. Flying to Melbourne for first business meeting of a new venture the next day, of course the first place I went to was City Wine Shop. The experience was five star. I was blessed with an Italian waiter to whom I said - I will order, you match my drinks…. It was perfect! All of it…. I can definitely recommend letting the staff do what they are good at while one can relax and watch this very busy venue do what they do best. So thank you to my waiter, to whom I failed to get a name, see you again soon.
A great hidden gem near Parliament and next to HP theatre.
Food was amazing, I would definitely recommend gnocchi and the chicken Parma.
Three staff intently walked past while I was waiting to be seated. When questioning why we were being ignored was told by the server "OK, well I just got here". Go elsewhere if seeking a wine and half competent service.
Brilliant wine shop and bar in Melbourne's CBD. Unusual wines you don't find everywhere. Went twice on a recent trip and thoroughly enjoyed each visit.
Outside and inside seating and good food choices. Loved the Salumi plate.
Great food/huge wine selection. Personable staff attentive to needs. A favourite restaurant visited twice on this trip.
Great place for wine and also the food is classy.
I had a nice Pinot Noir and a desert wine here.
If it’s a fancy wine bar like this why do they not pour the wines by the glass at the table and show you the bottle? Who wants to order a wine and just have the glass brought to you without even being shown the bottle? It’s a pretty basic thing if you are at a wine bar.
Such a nice and peaceful little joint near Parliament! There is a great variety of wine and very well-thought options of small dishes, main dish and dessert to go with the wines! There are plenty of seats outside for you to enjoy some sunshine but there are also options for indoor seating and bar table. The food was very well cooked with good quality ingredients. The staff team was really friendly! Love the Gnocchi, very fresh and flavourful!
Wine by the glass is rubbish and I doubt it’s 150ml. We got our glasses of wine served the wrong way around, the staff had one job.
Like most wine venues in Melbourne, the cost is up while quality is down.
Had a great time.they have a top range of wines that arent overpriced.hard to get a set sometimes but it is worth the wait
